On Argos website in UK (with a picture of Disney minifigs, but code 71013) - says not available until September.
  • fourstudfourstud Member Posts: 1,380
I called a few stores around Texas and got an answer why they want them out so early -

They don't want them to compete with the Disney series when it comes back in September so they're pushing these out earlier!

Second set of Disney, or more of the first wave?

^^ I'm pretty sure that's some nonsense.  Who is the source on that information?

^ If that info is accurate, I would presume a second run of Series 1 Disney CMFs.

Nowhere in the Northeast, I'm sure.  I'm totally confused as to how September product got shipped anywhere in the US this far in advance.

You are probably right.  The fact that no full boxes or anymore than 20 series 15 minifigures showed up in my area is a good sign that I won't see them until about November or December.

^ Maybe we can trade our excess Series 14 cases that are still readily available at Target...

I saw a new LEGO catalogue online a couple of weeks ago (one of the square ones) that are often found in independent toy stores and also in the LL Billund shop. Next to the Disney figures it said new series out July. This was supposedly a new catalogue and the Disney figs had already been available (from the reported street date, not the early availability in Billund) for at least 6 weeks so I thought really? wonder if it's true.

Anyhoo I began asking a certain store if they had any word of new figures coming into stock. They laughed and said we've heard nothing but you usually know before us! ;o)

I'll try to recall where I saw the catalogue and post a screenshot.

In the meantime, C'mon banana man! :o)

I called for you and they said they didn't have any. The one at 3900 S 27th Street.

Saw these at TRU in Frisco, TX yesterday, but they were in cart being wheeled to the back with a sign saying to not put out until 8/1.

Thanks.....I checked already anyways (its 5 minutes out from here). Must be the one on 27th. Thought it would be cool to get some before the announcement of them, but I can wait.

Hey, what happened to the front page article about this? Did TLG request for it to be taken down?
  • LukeSkywalkerLukeSkywalker Member Posts: 231
I love the new terrier!! And the new penguin! And most of all, the first official acoustic guitar!! Does the dog show guy have new hair too? Looks a little different from the new superman/football player hair but maybe it's the colour that's throwing me.

At this point I only want a set.
Paging @MinifiguresPlus. Will your company be doing a 'pre order' for these soon?
  • krklintkrklint Member Posts: 502
Yes! Acoustic Guitar! and the dog is sweet! I know which ones I'll be hunting for. My MOC music store will be nearly complete. This series is a nice way to get the new baby mini/micro fig (not sure what it qualifies as) out at a low cost.

I think it is usually a couple weeks before street date, so if these are Sept, I wouldn't expect a presale till mid August.

I heard over on EB that they, so said, "Want there to be enough Disney CMF stock out to go w/ the Disney Castle coming this fall" Which to me is a bull Dooky excuse.  There is no way they knew last second that the castle would exist and there's no way they can know the CMF Details last second either.

So they could of had Disney in the fall and 16 in the summer. Now its going to be BEYOND a nightmare for some of us. Where i live, there's no lego stores. Last run was a little under 3 weeks ago after not being able to go for over 4 years. Next run is not going to be anytime soon. There's 2 targets that are beyond a hit or miss on stock. And 4 walmarts which are mega hit or miss.

I don't like the looks of series 16 at all and is tied at series 10 as "worst series" in my book but i have no choice but to try hunting them down. There's a penguin guy and banana man. While i have no interest in them, i have to try finding them to put on the side since i know that if i do want them one day, i don't want to have to pay the aftermarket prices

Maybe the Disney CMFs are actually selling faster than LEGO had predicted, but they had already shifted the production line over for making Series 16. Having already switched, it makes sense to produce a full run of Series 16 and then switch back over to make more of the Disney CMFs, but if they cannot get that done fast enough it (sort of) makes sense to release Series 16 early and hold back some Disney CMF inventory to ship out with the upcoming castle.

Note - I know NOTHING about LEGO production schedules. The closest I have seen to this is artificial shortages of fresh produce a month before Christmas, followed by a sudden influx of stock just in time to make holiday baskets.

^ These products were made months ago.  You have to factor in internal Lego QC, safety testing, shipping, customs, etc.

Production schedules are really not conducive to flexibility and last minute changes.

None in the Raleigh NC LEGO store today, but they might be tomorrow or Wed. acc to the clerk. (This is the same mall that had a major flood a few days ago, and lots of cars were drowned. So do park on the north side of the mall away from Crabtree Creek unless you enjoy the big time smell of mold.) Also they were sold out of the new VW Beetle, but you can see a cool model of it built in the window.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Should wait to buy the VW till August anyway to get the free London bus.

They had 3 boxes open and about 4 sealed behind the counter at the Costa Mesa LEGO store.

Grabbed 5 at random to start this series.

Picked some up at the Lego store in Milwaukee (Wawatosa).....I said I was surprised they were out since Lego has not officially announced them and they had no idea what I was talking about.

My son and I bought a complete set this morning.  We went in for the penguin and babysitter, but ended up getting one of each.  It was nice having an entire box to ourselves for a change.  Plenty of time to feel each one out.  Thanks everyone for the heads up on the early release.  :)

So it looks like Lego has officially released these, but it is all very confusing, as they have not officially announced them. It does not seem that they are forcing sites to take down pics at this point either.

Not sure how you can stop someone from posting pictures of items they have bought legally.

True....its just this set president for Lego as they keep a tight lock on things until they announce it and then release shortly after. Its just odd is all...somewhat confusing as many of us are throwing down money about a month and a half before we expected to. Like the set though....although I only bought five today I could see getting most of them even if some are just for parts.

I think something similar happened with the VW Beetle leak. Someone bought it from a shop and LEGO had pics taken down.

Tough to call it a leak if the product is on the shelves at your own retail stores!
