Ahhhhh. I made a mistake, anyone else a muppet?

so I built the Volvo L350F over the last week in between lots of other tasks. Switch it on and realised I have made an error with the wheel drivetrain as forward/reverse is messy with wheels turning incorrectly.

ahhhh...just taken it all apart and now back at step 5!!!

Anyone else got a similar tale of woe about being a LEGO muppet occasionally???

When connecting one of the legs to UCS R2 I accidentally put a 2L red axle in the wrong place and because the last set is so well built, I had to rip the entire thing apart to get it out. I think the torso was maybe 4 bricks tall when I was finally able to disconnect the piece that the axle was stuck in.

it was one of those "dropped it in the wrong place" moments and I knew I messed up bad the moment I did it.

While not a Muppet, I am a tosser. I toss tools up to my co-workers all the time...

When I built the motorized ATAT, the gears were out of sync and it tried to gallop like a strange horse on acid.

#10178 like any motorized set really does need to be built perfectly and you need to make sure there is no friction. It took a little tinkering on my part to get mine to run smoothly.

I recall the UCS Tumbler had me tearing my hair out and I had to rebuild both sides at one point because I misread the instructions  for both sides.

Black bricks on black bricks in a LEGO instruction manual. What could possibly go wrong?

Built the pet Shop and finished with one 1x6 brick spare, and two gaps in opposite walls, 1x2 and 1x4.

Now the question is, did you have to search for that image, or did you already have it ready to go?

What does a Jim Henson creation have to do with Lego?  There are no Lego Muppet sets (although I would totally buy them if there were).  Closest thing I can think of is Yoda, he's almost a Muppet.

Easy solution: ass one 1x6 to parts bin. Remove one 1x2 and one 1x4 from parts bin. Forget it ever happened.

I screwed up on the Emerald Night and had to go back a few steps due to using the wrong colored parts due to shading in the instructions (dk grey instead of black)

In the UK, we use muppet as a slang term for being a bit of an idiot.

Thanks, I thought that this was probably a bit of a bad choice when I saw the kermit photo. I quite like 'muppet' as it seems less harsh than idiot and more of a 'ooopsie' moment than a DUH!

Ok, got it.  I'm not going to say it makes sense, because it doesn't.  But slang rarely makes sense went you really think about it.  But a least I understand now.

And to throw another term into the mix that will confuse those in the us.

    Couple a fannies!

What I really want to know is just how does anybody accidentally come across a picture like that? How do you know where to look?  What do you search for?  With SafeSearch turned on or off?

Tearing down the model and rebuilding everything from scratch will still have the same probability of repeating a mistake.

What if you rebuilt the model and found out a mistake in step 4....

not sure you want the answers to all those questions @legoboy - the internet is a strange place and no-one has mentioned Rule 34 yet... Is that even still a thing these days? Seems... archaic, to me, these days. Don't Google Rule 34 by the way. Unless you're in private browsing, within a virtual machine, far from anyone else...

I've made a few mistakes in assembling Lego sets, normally attributed to poor reading of the instructions (sometimes due to the colours) and others due to wanting to complete it as quickly as possible to admire my handiwork.

And a few comments later someone had spotted a second error in the same photo that I hadn't even seen - doh!

I built #42009  recently, had just about finished the base when I realised I'd made a mistake in the outrigger units by putting a DBG beam instead of black. That took a lot of dismantling, not helped by the fact I'd make exactly the same mistake in both!
