I don't think they did they set any favors for anthropomorphizing it. It would have been cute as just a cupcake. And brown frosting certainly wasn't the best chose! Everybody know that kids like sprinkles on top better.

Awful. Looks like a turd in pajamas. And why are the eyes stickered when there are plenty of good Mixel printed options? Perhaps there are alternate eye stickers. I assume there are alternate language options for the happy birthday sticker.

Don't know who exactly thought of "anthropomorphized cupcake" as a birthday promo, but whoever designed the set certainly nailed the concept!

Then again, I'm also in the camp that thought the Rio Olympic Mascots set was well-designed and that the mascots themselves were adorable and inspired.

Because you get stickers (and an extra pair of tiles) for eyes with and without eyelashes.

Well, they probably would've had to print a sticker sheet anyway for the "Happy Birthday" flag (since it's a design they're unlikely to use often enough to be worth having a printed piece in production, and a seasonal set like this probably doesn't have the budget to introduce unique printed pieces anyway). So maybe they figured that if they were going to have a sticker sheet anyway they might as well take advantage of it to give the character more sparkly eyes.

I don't know if it was strictly necessary, and if they didn't need any other stickers they probably would've just settled for Mixel eyes. But I do think the extra sparkles add to the set's cuteness.

Is anyone else imagining the actual eyes are the pink 1x1 round tiles? This, along with what looks like a forked red tongue makes it look like a snake-like alien creature that uses two spinning hypnotic discs between it's eyes to stun its prey? If the hypnosis doesn't work, BALLOONS!

Sparkles? Looks like teardrops to me. Or sweat.

In any case, I agree with all who see the Obelix connection. That was the first association that came to my mind as well. Actually, that "thing", whatever it is supposed to be, could be the basis for a cool Obelix MOC.
