Hello from Snipsa in Pretoria, South Africa

SnipsaSnipsa Member Posts: 6
Hi all,

I am a brand new (lady) AFOL from South Africa.  I am still testing the water slightly, buying smaller sets that I find interesting/appeals to me, before, hopefully, finding a niche where I'll settle into - modular buildings hold a great appeal, but the cost needs to be taken into consideration - I'll need to work on saving rather than spending on the smaller sets.

I am also trying to buy as many bulk lots of bricks as I can (that are reasonably priced) to start working on some MOCs

Also love the CMF's so will always try to increase my collection of those as well.

    Hi there.

Once you've got some bricks stored up, why not join in the monthly building contests?

Welcome to Brickset.  The modulars do draw many people in but the cost of them is rather high especially the discontinued ones.
I was lucky with the CMF's as they just started when I came out of my dark ages so have a complete set of them all.  The Marketplace here is good for trading with people and may help with increasing your collection.

I'd also add the advice to buy what you like rather than complete sets. There are enough CMF now that you can make a good display without having them all.

For me CMF's are like Pokemon.  Gotta catch 'em all.

I wish I hadn't bought many many sets that I own, when I add up the cost of these small sets it equates to the cost of a modular, and a half.

Welcome to Brickset, say Hi to Durbs if you ever go there, it's my ancestral home.
