Mixing Friend Amusement Park with Creator Fairground sets

stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
Having missed out on #10196 Grand Carousel, I'm now looking at other ways to flesh out the park side of my new Lego city. Is anybody considering mixing the new Friends Amusement Park sets (e.g. #41133 ) with the #10247 Ferris Wheel and #10244 Fairground Mixer? Or would these look too much out of place? I don't have any Friends sets yet, so I'm a bit doubtful whether the colour schemes would fit.

Yes they would fit. Look at any fairground. Do they have consist colours throughout all the rides? Very unlikely, as different rides are build at different times and also meant to appeal to different people. Also as it is lego then you can swap out parts and replace colours if you don't like them.

Makes sense. Whilst my wife is supportive of me buying tons of Lego since I came out of my Dark Age late last year, I'm trying to be "reasonable"(-ish) and only buy sets I know will fit in my city setup/will be used for display. I guess that in worst case I can gift these to my nieces if I don't feel they fit after all.

I use quite a few friends sets in my city layout as the basis of moc buildings as they are a good source canopy's and windows and the doll hair pieces fit standard minifigures for a bit of variety. I will be picking up the hotdog van to go in my fairground but I am not that impressed with the rides themselves so will give them a miss. A good source of rides is Jokerland.

These amusement park sets are near the top of my list of sets to buy. I`m excited to flesh out my amusement park. My son loves playing with the Ferris wheel and the mixer. We also add Jokerland and a Carousel MOC that I`m making (looking forward to the new rumoured Carousel out this year!). I can`t wait to add the new Friends sets which I`m sure will be a lot of fun to play with (not bothered about the colour of the sets and I`ve got plenty of spare parts if it offends me). I might try and MOC a Dragon rollercoaster - its his favourite ride at Legoland Windsor . My son loves playing `Legoland` with all the amusement park sets.

@msandes Brickcoaster makes 3rd party parts for roller coasters, you may want to investigate them.

@MattDawson Now why did you go and do that?! :-) You`re going to cost me money! Now I HAVE to have these! I really don`t have the money and the postage + import charge is going to be sky high, but I NEED these rollercoasters! My son would looooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeee this. Hmmm.....how to convince the wife!
