Is B&N going to be carrying all of the sets this year or just HP? Specifically I am wondering about the Ninjago one. Maybe I missed it in one of the other threads.

I just stopped by my barnes and noble. The lady worked really hard to help me which I appreciate.  Anyway, they only showed up at two stores, Rockefeller and a store in CA.  When the lady called, there was no more at Rockefeller and three at the CA store was being held for someone.  If you are the one holding the three....fess up!
She also said there aren't any in the warehouse meaning the stores won't be getting anymore.  I'm hoping they are in mid transit.

Are you referring to the HP bricktober sets?

My local B&N knew nothing about what I was asking for and tried hard to look it up with zero luck.

As someone else who lives in Illinois, I am definitely curious about this situation.

My worker had to look up the product number by looking up the item on ebay.  She definitely went out of her way.  They were also listed for $7.12....b&n and their weird pricing.

Don't know if he's the same person, but a couple of weeks ago someone posted on a Facebook LEGO group that they had successfully gotten a local store to lookup the HP bricktober figures and place an order to ship to their home. Others reported trying and they could no longer be done.

I second the request for more information
Yes, seeing as it doesn’t appear on their site when searching “lego Harry Potter”.

Here is the product number the b&n employee gave me.:
    0673419294300
You can try giving that to a store employee to look up.

So all I did was go to B&N straight to customer service and had them look up

"LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Professors 4 Minifigure Set"

The lady there knew what she was looking for and placed the order for me for home delivery. The item came out to less than $8. I got a printed confirmation at the store and am email confirmation as well. It was shipped one day later

I for one will be a little disheartened if they are indeed gone already.

I did notice that eBay seems to be flooded with them, but at $39.00 and up it's just not worth it to me.

I went at lunch....and gave the customer service people the Product Number (thank you for that, ReesesPieces). They looked, but said they weren't able to order it, and weren't sure if the store was going to get any.  They said that Corporate Headquarters is usually very good about giving them information about Lego products and events, but on this, they've heard nothing, and were still thinking they should have had them by the October 1 date that's been floating around.  I left my information and they promised to contact me when they found out.  I can't say they didn't try, but it's still an unknown!

Same answer at one B&N I checked, they said they may get a few but not sure when.

I checked for the wife tonight.  They said its a specialty item, something about a warehouse, and that they could not ship it to the store for me.

Same deal here, they said best bet was to just keep checking

I got the same result at my B&N. But the cashier threw 8 Kessel Mine Workers in the bag for the #75212 I was picking up in store. So, I'm not complaining. At least not for a day or two.

Local store doesn’t have any info. No warehouses close by have them in stock so they aren’t sure if they are even getting any. Meanwhile, eBay is full of them.
I suppose this is going to be a bit of headache trying to find them at retail prices. Anybody heard anything about the other sets?

Well you also have to remember that some people likely got them from overseas and are trying to profit take on them before these appear in the US.
I will say that it sounds like the B&N stores are not getting many per store (at least according to the store I checked with), and given how many TRU likely ordered from LEGO before going belly up, one would presume they will appear at other outlets (though not sure as cheap as 7-8 dollars per) as well, if not LEGO stores themselves and online

I tried a B&N in Orlando today and staff insisted I needed to spend the $30 to get the figure. I had hoped to buy a few but don’t have room or need for multiple $30 purchases

Stopped by my local Barnes and Noble and gave them the product number for the Harry Potter set and the employee punched it into their computer.

Showed up as none available anywhere, not even in the warehouse. I don't have high hopes of actually being able to get this set at retail price.

B&N in Milford, CT had Brickheadz on sale for 20% off, so I picked up Mickey, Minnie, Elsa, and Olaf+Anna and got the Kessel Mine worker for free. Was able to purchase 2 additional Mine Workers.

I stopped by my local Barnes and Noble to ask about the Kessel Mine Worker. They showed 30 in stock, but when they looked for them, couldn't locate them. I called back the next day to see if they'd tracked them down. No luck. I called on Sunday and they said they were probably stolen. The person I spoke to said they have a real problem with theft. I asked if that was something I should call the corporate office and let them know they have theft issues. They said it was a store problem, but I could call corporate if I wanted to.

I called another store and was very pleasant. They were not. The person I spoke to was very rude and wouldn't look to see if any other stores in the area had them.

The last store I called didn't seem to know what I was talking about, but eventually they were able to track a few down. They took my name and I just need to buy a $25 item.

The figure is definitely not worth this effort, IMO.

Mine worker promo ends today so if any stores have them left tomorrow they may be able to sell them, according to the employee I talked to last week, may go back and find out

I stopped by last night around 8:30pm. The lone girl at the register let me purchase the remaining 8 mine workers. After my member discount, the total was $9.74. I'd say it was a good night.

^Doubling down on your two hopes...though my guess is it will once again be a huge YMMV situation as many employees are not very seasoned when it comes to Lego promotions.  Guess we will find out in a month or so, hope they made enough for everyone.

I just called a store that confirmed they had them in stock. She said all stores were told to pull them from the shelves for an upcoming promo. She personally had no details of the promo. She did say you will not be able to buy these.

thebrickfan.com is reporting that they are all be held for a GWP promo on Nov 17, though I heard there is a promo for BF that they are for as well. Still, with an allotment of 8 per store I cannot image that promo is going to go over smoothly (especially if those ordering from the warehouse actually took from store allotments). I also think that these will be at other outlets than B&N at some point

I bought one from Ebay. It is what it is. I bought myself the privilege/peace of mind of not having to worry about it, visit the store repeatedly, bother the workers, etc., etc.....add to that the fact that (to me anyway), my time is very pricelessly valuable!

Plus, it's a gift for my wife. You could say I earned "double points" on that purchase!

Sometimes paying a little more to save time is the logical thing to do.  For some, searching and finding one in the wild is part of the thrill and excitement that many enjoy.  You should definitely enjoy your purchase and not worry about it.  And I'm sure you can cash in your double points for an extra special reward from the wife!

There's nothing wrong with paying secondary market prices to skip the hassle of finding an item, it's a free market. I've been tempted to do so myself, I just personally don't want to encourage scalpers.

I emailed Barnes and Noble about it as this is also a gift for my wife, and the response I got back gave zero indication they actually care about the lack of proper information regarding the set. I got a generic "well just keep checking your local store".

The secondary market prices are too high for my liking, but they're what people are willing to pay. While our minifigure collection will feel incomplete without them, we can live with that compared to the secondary market price.

I went to my Barnes and Noble yesterday and there was no Bricktober pack. (Though, I wasn't necessarily looking for it at the time.) However, what I did find was that my Barnes and Noble was seriously overstocked on some of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts sets. They had at least sixteen of the Grindlewald's Escape set on the shelf, along with a high volume of Newt's Suitcase and the Hogwarts Express. I know these sets were selling like hotcakes at some of the other stores when they first came out, but I guess Barnes and Noble was not one of them.

As for the Bricktober pack, I actually got lucky and won a giveaway that someone was doing on Instagram to celebrate 2k followers. He should be sending it out by this Sunday.

B&N tends to put out all of their stock, particularly toys.  They really don't keep a back room overstock.

The BN in Evanston still has a ton of Kessel Mine Workers. I didn’t try to buy it outright but got one with 29.95 purchase.

I walked in a B&N today and all lego product was stacked on portable carts...like they were moving them to aisle 9-3/4 or something....maybe a big reset or something in the works, but it was a mess nonetheless
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 850
I think some B&N are getting a remodel.  My local one had their music/dvd area cleaned out.  It's been practically empty for 3+ weeks.  Won't be missed.  Can't believe anyone buys dvd/cds from them anyway.
I stopped in today because I thought I saw someone here post that the Kessell Mine Worker sale was over.  There wasn't any indication of that at my store.   They wouldn't sell the extra polys because the signs of 'spending $30 for a free one' don't have a defined end-date.  So their still running the promotion.

There was a planogram sitting out at my BN that showed some of the LEGO shelf space turning into space for some Barbie and other dolls like that.

My BN cashier was nice enough to sell me a mine worker for the $1.14 price. All I had to do was ask if I could just buy one outright even though the signs were still up for the $30 purchase being necessary.

I'm going to NYC at the end of November.  Was hoping to pick one of these up for a friend at work, but I suspect that's not going to happen, judging by the tales above.

    Oh well.

According to the (very) fine print on the signage, BrickHeadz are 20% off through the end of the year.
