True, as I had made that comment above (yesterday) per the leaked black Friday ad.  But was still curious.  We all have stories about various store employees not knowing about promotions, or those which don't follow the rules or make exceptions, etc.
It seems that the stores are being put on notice for this one, as there are only so many they have, where it was unclear with the Mine workers before (they may have had 40-50 mine workers, but it sounds like only 20-25 Potter prof sets in the store, heck one store by me said they were getting only 8 prof sets in). I think this promo also has been buzzed about for some time with a lot of people asking about it so demand and attention is higher.
Finally I think some stores may have gotten a 'swipe on the nose' for doing what they were doing with the Mine Workers (that is selling them outright for under 2 dollars a piece)

Possible.  I will say that the employees at the Barnes and Noble stressed that if I were to return any of the sets I had bought to procure the HP minifig set, I would have to return the minifigs as well.  I am curious how everyone else is making out.

While they rang up for $0.02, the cashier told me when she totalled it that they were marked not for individual sale in the system. A manager came over and told me that while he'd like to sell them, he couldn't. As always, YMMV.
  • BrickByBrickBrickByBrick Member Posts: 748
They come up on the receipt as Harry Potter Minifigure 4 set NOT FOR SALE AS
so I'd guess it's going to be a lot less likely that you'll get an employee to sell you one.
  • jmeninnojmeninno Member Posts: 1,216
Well, I am glad I got my one (in case my secret Santa is on the lookout lol).  Was just curious if they were found "out in the open" today.  Will be curious again after Black Friday.  Really need to hunt down that Jurassic World minifig set next, now that the wife is taken care of with this HP minifig set.

I called another Barnes & Noble store that was too far for me to just drive and check out. The manager told me that he'd been told very specifically that they were not to sell the packets individually. He said there was another promotion coming up, and they would be available again on Black Friday with another large purchase.

My store was out today, too bad. Guess I'll try my luck online but IMO it's easier to just grab one off Bricklink/eBay at this point rather than try to find $75 worth of stuff in store where things are mostly picked over .

I was able to get one for my $75 purchase and an employee gave me a second one for signing up for B&N rewards.

I'm happy to see that people were able to get some. My second one is coming from Europe in 2 weeks

Purchased #75955 Hogwarts Express and got the Harry Potter minifigure set for free.

While I did overpay on that particular set as compared to Amazon and Target, the important part was getting the minifigure pack for my wife.

I was able to get the kessel mine worker on top of the HP 4 pack after spending $75 (included a $30 star wars set)...the store manager let me do this twice to get a second HP 4 pack...but I had to spend $150...(they would not sell the kessel mine worker individually either)...

I did have to wait 20+ min to actually get the store manager to come to the register though...the cashier did not know how to include the kessel mine worker promo...

the manager did tell me if I return any of these I would have to bring back all promos...also I would like to mention to check your receipts...you have 2 weeks to return...ONLY 2 weeks...not that you would want to return and lose the HP 4 pack...(so now I have $150 of legos that you could of bought elsewhere for $100...rip)...

I went to 2 different B&N the next day to see if they would sell these individually and they both said they had limited (under 20) and are saving them for the black Friday promo...in my area they were stern on not individually selling or giving away these promos...

  • legomyeggoslegomyeggos Member Posts: 47
One more note...if you buy from B&N online...some items are NOT returnable in stores...better check before you buy...I got stuck with certain unreturnable legos before...and B&N online said I would have to pay for the shipping to ship it back for return

So did your HP set show up on your receipt?  The employee scanned mine, but when it rang up for .02 he, voided it and just gave it to me.  So, its not on my receipt.  I kind of want to return the set I got, as I can get it $15 cheaper elsewhere.

I don't think the HP set was ever scanned when I was at B&N so I could theoretically return the set and keep the freebie. But I won't.

Mine shows up on my receipt. I guess it just depends on who you got at the register. The cashier said the same thing about not being able to return the set purchased without giving the promo back. I'm hoping there are still some of these at the B&N that is farther away from me because I was in there today, and they had received a shipment of a couple dozen #40262, which I would love to purchase a bunch of to get another HP promo.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
^ My B&N just got the same #40262 plus #40260 (a little late).  Are anyone else's B&N Lego boxes pretty beat up?  I'd have to say 75% of this stores boxes are all pretty beat up.  But they did just go thru a remodel too.  The back 1/2 of the store used to be a music/dvd section with the security scanner at you walked in....now it's all games/collectables/lego.

The HP set does show up on my receipt. It does come up as $0.02 price, but the cashier should have scanned a coupon that reduces the price to $0.00 and it is reflected on the receipt.

I got a gift receipt and the promo is on it too, thought that was odd.  Says statute of liberty and Hp promo

Has anyone else been getting notices that the B&N order has failed?
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Limit of one per account. They are aggressively enforcing this apparently. I got one order that went through and one that says it failed. I tried under a new account and so far it hasn't said failed.

One per billing address is the actual term in their conditions. It would also explain why they still have the promo available. In the end, that is a good thing as everyone has a good shot at getting one, though I would have liked to get two.

Was hoping for some nice cyber Monday deals as in the past, but I don’t see anything. The toy deals don’t include lego and neither does the 20% off everything code.
  • jmeninnojmeninno Member Posts: 1,216
Now that the Black Friday promo is over, I walked in to see if they would sell the figures outright.  Still a no.  However, I saw the new Spiderman sets out...are they supposed to be out already?
  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 Member Posts: 1,833
^Saw the new Spider-man sets in my LEGO Store, so they should be ok to be out.
  • ReesesPiecesReesesPieces Member Posts: 1,131
I asked about the bricktober and they said they are running the promo until 12-24 or until supply lasts.  Looks like they had quite a few of these left.

^The store I went to today had quite a few of these on a shelf behind the counter.

Last Friday I bought #21030 United States Capitol Building as my store finally got one in that wasn't completely mangled by the spider wrap.

I noticed that they had a few of the Harry Potter sets sitting on the shelf behind the registers, but I was not offered one. I didn't push either though, because, long story short, this store did me a huge favor allowing me to get the one I wanted for my wife in the first place.

I was surprised to see some left at my store though, especially since it's considered a smaller store.

I was at the Ridgedale store yesterday and they had all SW constraction figures at 30% off, and Brickheadz at 20% off.

Has anyone gotten their Harry Potter Minifigures from an online order on Black Friday?  I received the actual Lego order yesterday, but the minifigure pack wasn't included.  It has a separate shipping tracking number, and even though the website says it shipped on 11/25, UPS has no record of it yet.  Making me nervous that it is in limbo and I might not get it after all.
  • RonyarRonyar Member Posts: 373
^Called B&N and they told me that their system just wasn't updating correctly.  Should be delivered in the next couple of days.  Probably just overwhelmed with Black Friday offers.  Fingers crossed...
  • hleonffuhleonffu Member Posts: 247
^ I received the Harry Potter Minifigures about 1 week after receiving the set. Both came in excellent condition. The HP set came in a cardboard mailer used to send books.

B&N has 50% off advent calendars.  Thy eyes are sold out online but you might be able to find stores near you that have them in stock.  I found several stores near me that have the friends one for $15 but the city or star wars were all out.

Got my Prof set a couple of days ago.

I was able to purchase in-store with the extra member 10% off and get the Harry Potter minifig set.  They allowed to do 3 separate $75 orders to get 3 sets as well.

Too bad the site only limits you to one prof set per billing address (and still does to the best of my knowledge)

Has anyone managed to find out this morning if they will now sell the Potter professor set (formerly known as bricktober set)?
  • starwars4everstarwars4ever Member Posts: 489
@madforLEGO On the receipt they ring up as "NOT FOR SALE" and when I spoke with the manager, who used to work for Lego, he said they'd be sending all the extra's back. Unlike May the Fourth promos, it look so like these are staying exclusive

That's is a bit dumb IMO. I guess they will be used for another promo at some point, but thank you for checking!

B&N (in-store) have all their Lego Batman Movie sets 50% off(clearance).  There was a small $19.99 Technic set also
Oh....and I see people are buying the Lego Movie 2 set for $9.99 on Walmart.com.  B&N had all the series sets available in-store.
  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 Member Posts: 1,833
Was just at 2 B&N. One had 90% of the new Lego sets out, but no Harry Potter 4 pack. The other only had the LEGO Movie 2 sets, but had the Harry Potter 4 pack for a gift a $75.

Just saw this today at B&N.  Sorry for the poor picture quality as I was alone with three kids including a 20 month old in my arms.

Looks like a pretty fun build.

So they are still doing that promo then it appears.. Interesting as I thought someone else said their store reportedly returned all of their sets to the warehouse. Wonder if there are any good sale/clearance deals at my local B&N stores
