Awesome! Looks like a lot for a wealthy expanding bricklink seller to me.

Impressive. Just spent a few minutes zooming on the pics. Those trains, those sets. Wow!

That's nothing special - my store room looks like that.

Okay, one rack of that. I can't imagine keeping all of that.

Maybe if we started a Brickset pool with each of our life savings we could purchase it...

Looks like it is located in Belgium, so they may have paid European prices for the collection. Wow! That is too much to take in at one viewing.

If a few sellers with collections like this decide to dump them at the same time, it could have a serious impact on Bricklink set prices all over the world. Would make me a bit worried if my collection was in that league or if I had a BL store with many of the same sets.

    That is quite the collection!

Ha ha, yeah I'm sure if you got about 80 people to pool in 1k each, everybody could walk away with some cool stuff.
  • thebeermonkeythebeermonkey Member Posts: 390
    ^ I'm in!

It would be a very interesting meeting when 80 people stake their claim on what they each want for their one thousand euros.
  • kiki180703kiki180703 Member Posts: 1,063
@bobabricks Well, now, it's at 40k so you would only need 40 people to pool 1k or 80 people to pool in 500 euros...  ;)

^being a generous soul, for the 500 euros buy in I'd only take the 1 box, as long as it had the numbers 10179 (in that order) on it somewhere.

Got to disappoint you, He's still after 80 grand but he allowed bidding from 40. It's a website like Gumtree.

Funny he says you will need a week to pack it up and the buyer has to do it himself.

@MattDawson well, it was just because it's in the same country - but I guess it's only polite to bring a present to the hostess and flowers wilt ;)

    @MattsWhat
As I said, I am a generous soul.
I already have the parts to put the set together so they are not necessary & according to numerous threads on here, the box must be worth loads as so many people just want a copy of it to look at without building what's inside, so I reckon I'm on to a winner.

Better yet, buy some cheap creator sets, and re-fill the box and apply some new seals. Then there's the illusion of it being sealed and having the set inside...

Can you imagine explaining that one to the other half? 'Honey I've just pooled our life savings with a bunch of AFOL'S I've never met to take a trip to Belgium for a week of packing and dividing up lego, you don't mind do you?'

I suspect a cast iron saucepan might connect with my head

I'm still game it's an amazing collection

Considering how LEGO crazy we are, that explanation might actually sound pretty normal.

I can picture the newspapers story now.
"Police are baffled by sudden increase in domestic violence as 80 adult fans of Lego returning from Belgium are all hospitalized on the same day after all being  beaten severely with what seems to be old Lego sets"

@samiam391 I can see book coming, dare I say a movie trilogy.

A band of AFOLs set out to a far away land. They find refuge at a Belgian lady's house after being hunted by a woman with a saucepan and a 'different view' on this hobby. When the travellers finally arrive at the house, all of the loot has been stolen!

    dun dun duuuuu...

There is afwul flooding in this guy's city so at the moment we'll need to have a hovercraft or a dinghy.

I just really hope his basement is waterproof - can you imagine that collection getting soaked?

Could you not just build a protective perimeter out of Lego?  Pass me  another box it's still raining!

@legomental Why did you let your wife bring her saucepan?!?
@bobabricks I like where this plan is going - I appear to be getting dibs on a #10221 also.
In other news, do you think the police would be suspicious on discovering a gang of 80 people travelling abroad with large amounts of cash and empty suitcases?

Sounds a tad redundant that we protect the Lego... By using the Lego, I definitely don't want no flood water on my prize. ;)
