I once got sent for a left handed screwdriver. It was to open the tin of tartan paint that my wife bought.

I found it next to the long stand.

A bottle of Fisherman's wine with a picture of a fisherman on the front. About 5F (50p or so in 1990) in Le Harve before catching the ferry back home and it tasted like it was worth all of 5F.

One of those dynamo things that makes your outdoor pushbike into an indoors exercise bike. I'd rather be rained upon going up and down the North Tyneside coastline than sat upstairs pedaling away.

Worst thing I ever bought... Can't think. Got a pile of cushions doing nothing... But worst thing I (n)ever bought would be tickets to a very specific performance a few years ago, when i could've.

Everything to start making my own necklaces and earings: manual, loads of beads, locks, a weaving rack, threads, different tweezers. Then I discovered Lego... The first row of beads is still on the rack!

At least the tweezers come in handy for applying stickers....

You live next to the most horrendous family or the house is the worst thing, with your family being a close second?

@messy - I made a mistake like that with bacon flavoured chocolate once. And cheese flavoured fudge...
Both purchased on the same holiday in the USA.

@LostInTranslation cheese flavoured fudge sounds too wrong for words! @adiemc cheese and onion crisp chocolate on the other hand sounds strangely alluring!

Crappy Asda kettle which you always have to put double the amount of water needed as the "spout" sprays half of it over the side when you try to pour it.

Or the toaster which heats the middle section of the bread twice as fast as the top, meaning you have a decent middle and soggy top or a decent top and a carbonised middle.

I hate to add: these are both actually still in use in my kitchen :(

A little kit to build a solar powered tiny windmill or something, as something for one of my students to do. I couldn't even handle the instructions, never mind my student with super low frustration tolerance.
