A local jeweler shows how he made a solid gold Minifig with a quirky little stop motion video. Don't know if he is going to start selling these.

    Move over Mr. Gold!

Although technically this is a knock-off. Or should that be a clone? Actually no, in Star Wars a clone is something totally different. Argh, how did we agree to refer to LEGO copies again?

I wonder if he used those minifigure ice cube trays to make it.

It was a jeweler. He just used gold stock that he probably had for re-sizing rings and doing custom mountings. For all we know, after the video was done it got melted back down for stock. If anything, he gets to write it off as an advertising expense.

    1) A jeweler made it

    2) "people with too much money" - I can't stand that phrase

^do you dislike the phrase "people with too little money"?

It's better than "people with too few money" or "too many money". Wait, are we discussing content or structure here?...

1.) It's still a gold figure. Gold is not free. If you can afford to go out and craft gold figures, jeweler or not, you've got money.

2.) I honestly don't care how much money other people have. If you worked hard and earned it good for you. It was meant to be funny not offensive.

He won't sit down in it though.

This thing isn't a minifigure, it is a frozen statue of a minifigure. If it was made out of carbonite, then it might be worth something. But as gold, scrap value only. Although free advertising using LEGO's name of course.

I think it's cool. It might be free advertising, but it might also just be someone who genuinely likes star wars and wanted to do something cool with his skills as a Keller. Either way, I'm impressed, nice detail.

I'd still prefer one of the diamond rings though!

    @snowhitie
It's funny you should say that, showed the figure to the boss and she said exactly the same thing.

Knock off Lego is still knockoff Lego. I won't pay more than $1.00 for this bootleg, WITH free shipping from China of course. ;P

Is it a solid gold han solo, or a solid gold jack stone minifig scale?

This is great, I like it.  Now that the gold is part of Lego it should quadruple in profit.

Stay away from diamond rings :D

Of all the minifigures to make out of gold he chose... Han Solo? We have enough variations of that minifigure.

It would be the closest they've gotten to chrome.
