2016 Monthly Building Contest - April: Autobuildography

ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
Another month down, and first things first, the winner of March's contest was.....

@Mynatt (The second entry was the winner) - All the entries were fantastic once again but that Nexo Knights build actually put me in mind of the old alternate builds that featured in the instructions from some older sets.

For this month I'm suggesting something really different, an Auto-build-ography. I want you guys to build something that tells part of the story of your life. There are a lot of ways to do this, you could build a minifigure scene, a brick portrait or perhaps even build an important object from your life - maybe something like your first car. There is one additional requirement to previous months, I would like you to include a short description explaining the story - it doesn't have to be long and it won't be included in the judging, but figured it would be a nice way to build the brickset community so we can all get to know each other better!

As with previous months, new builds only please, as many entries as you'd like with no size limits. please no custom parts, but custom prints/decals are fine. Please only post two images per entry and only one entry per post - trying to make it easier for everyone to view the thread.

Entries close at midnight in the UK on the last day of the month.

There will be a small prize for the winner, a lucky dip from the polybag/mixel pool I have, but really this is just intended as a bit of fun. The winner will be chosen on the last day of the month and announced on the first of the following along with the next contest.

(I don't yet have an example built but I have got one planned so hopefully I'll be joining in the fun too.)

I'd been meaning to do a few builds like this for a while so seemed a good idea.

Just a quick question, would a mosaic be acceptable as an entry and also how recent does the build have to be?
A few months ago I finished a build along the lines of this months competition which, due to what it is of, is a framed and finished permanent fixture in our home so is current, just not totally "new".

    Congrats @Mynatt.

Wow, this will take some thought.

    Happy building everyone.

@bandit778 - mosaics are fine, I'm glad someone asked actually meant to include it. New builds ideally, if it's not been shared anywhere before then I'd say it's a new build.

Hmm.. My life isn't interesting enough to build anything from. I reckon I'm out for this month.

This was the theme of my final model build at the LEGO interview for Master Model Builder in Tempe, AZ (USA) for the new LEGOLand Discovery Center. Specifically it was 'Represent yourself in LEGO' and do it in 60 minutes. A very difficult task for sure.

Having trouble adding a description to my previous post. My entry shows me (on the right) at my school prom. An enjoyable way to celebrate 7 years of school and exams with my fellow students.

Thanks guys. And thanks @shib for the opportunity. I'll stop now as it may turn into an Oscar style ramble.
