Collecting certain parts only

@Mr_Cross I have a spare Medium Orange you can have for your collection if you want. ;-)

I'm sure Sand Blue will appear in a set at some point. 

I also try and avoid paying silly money as colours do appear eventually e.g. it took ages for Dark Brown to appear but it did. Same for the Red 'dalek' 4733 brick, they were between £8-20 on BL and not they are in a set and easily available!

Red? or Dark Red?... If there is a Red out there somewhere then it must be a prototype. Theres a few different ones on BL eg Dark Flesh but I guarantee these are mistakes from sellers getting the colour wrong ;-)

Yes, proper classic normal red. My friend bought a bunch on BL and they're most definitely that colour

95% of the time off colours are just that, wrongly listed. The other 5% is usually jackpot for me :)

@DeMontes that's great news about that Dalek brick.  All of my city's fire hydrants use a gray Dalek brick as their core but we have plenty of fire hydrants that are red here on this side of the pond so I'm looking forward to upgrading them. That's great news to wake up to, especially since Bricks and Pieces seems to be back up and running plus it's double points.

The babies.    I think that’s all of them but hard to be sure, can’t find a decent picture of the baby that comes in the LEGO House Tree of Creativity.  That minifigure could be all white which means I already have one of each or, it has light blue printing which means I will never have it.

New month and completed a new collection...all of the Friends and Elves birds.  Please don’t tell me I’m missing one as my spouse is about to ban me from Bricklink...

Technically this is made up of 2 different part types - 98388 and 35074.  I believe the only big difference is that the feet are separated in the former group.  My personal favorites are # 2 from the left “Shadow Raven” and # 4 (the macaw from #41038 Jungle Rescue Base).

What is it with spouses!?!  Mine has my whole family acting like I’m taking away their birthdays everytime a delivery truck comes with new LEGO.  It just isn’t right. 

I like #2 too.  And #8.  Nice detail printing.

I think these are all of the available colors of monstrous part 53451... I had wanted to have the final one in by Halloween but no luck- better late than never!

With many thanks to @DeMontes for generously sending me additions to my 1x1s. I sent her a bag with a couple of bits of dog poo in and a brown sack that a fox had been at in return for them... she seemed okay with that, but I think I probably still need to make it up to her in some way.



So, as this is now a more complete set, I felt my collection deserved (and warranted) better presentation. Notice the room for expansion!?



That is because I think I'm now committed to picking up a couple more. I have 51 out of the 56 (plus an extra non-production one - light flesh is most definitely courtesy of DeMontes).

I still need v. light grey, old brown, maersk blue, sand blue and old pink.

Very nice collection!  I am working on 1x2 plates but there are a scattered few that are ridiculously expensive.  BTW I’ll check but I think I have a sand blue, a Maersk blue and an old brown you could have... not so sure about shipping across the Atlantic though... if you are still short next spring when we are in London I can check about mailing them from in-country...

^ Yes, I have sometimes gone by "lots for sale", but so often sellers don't list colors correctly or don't know what they actually have... For example, there are only 2 sellers (both in Europe) of black cups, and one of them has over 400 of them!  Was that a custom piece, or unreleased?  If it was in a set I would expect it to be in the database and to be sold by more sellers... I have self-limited to parts that were officially released because my spouse would divorce me otherwise... :-)

looks like I will be back on the hunt now...

Oh yeah you definitely have to be careful! Like that trans-pink one. Only one seller? When there's 800 selling trans-dark pink? I think someone has got their colours mixed up there.

On the other hand, looking at how many sellers there are, I'd say green, light grey and tan are probably genuine.

Nice, I have these too although I had to try a few BL sellers for the Brown as I kept receiving Reddish Brown (story of my life for so many BL colours tho!!)

I logged on to Bricks and Pieces for the Chinese New Year parts and on a whim went looking for the new Friends animals... all of them are available at fairly reasonable prices, and I didn’t really need the cubes, so...

^I bought them all as soon I saw them on B&P earlier this week. I'm a bit concerned about the upcoming series of these play cubes. My Friends animal collection is already getting a bit out of control. Will my need to collect lead me to being overwhelmed by cute brightly colored animals?
  Any guesses about what animals the next series will feature?

I know... I suspect this type of collecting will allow brief moments of “completionist” satisfaction punctuated by repeated Bricklink orders trying to catch up to new releases...:-)
