I'm working on a custom space layout and I'm thinking of making about 20 of these guys to populate it...

Use red tanks too? And for safety's sake, a visor.

Yeah, red tanks would look really good! And either a blue or clear visor.

I'm thinking of keeping it old school, imagine the visor is there, plus visors look pretty silly on the classic space helmets. I'll try out the red tanks.

Add my vote to red tanks too.
    Look pretty cool.

It just looks wrong, especially if you want it to be "old school", IMHO of course.  I would go for the more modern Galaxy Squad helmet in red.

I would do one with the modern helmet and compare side-by-side.

I think my vote would probably be for the modern red helmet with a clear face shield and a red tank.

The old-school helmets ought to be reserved for the plain space torso.  There's too much detail on the body.

Try it with red hands again. Either way, nice.

Looking much better now...but I'd stick with white hands! As you can see from above we all have our opinions, but ultimately it's what you like!

This was just to show @bobabricks what I meant.  The astronaut is back with his white tanks and helmet now!

They both look great. It's a shame that the helmets have thick straps that partially cover the mouths.

^it would be fairly likely this would be the case in reality though, with mics in the helmets and to avoid fogging the visor.

They look great, though I like the one with red hands best.

I'm not sure which one I like best.  However, since I have only one pair of spare red hands (unless I strip all my red Classic Space figures of theirs) the decision is more or less taken for me.

What about a red race car helmet with the visor instead to get rid of the thick strap.

BTW I vote for the red hands.
  • deephorsedeephorse West Yorkshire, U.K.Member Posts: 83
I don't mind the 'thick strap'.  After all, helmets are about those inside them looking out, not those outside looking in!

They look great!  I'd buy half a dozen torsos and legs if you were to...you know...let a few fall of the truck!

    Red racing helmet ........

    Don't like it myself.

Just noticed the grey hands - those work better than the white!
  • deephorsedeephorse West Yorkshire, U.K.Member Posts: 83
Grey is the original hand colour for that minifig.  I prefer the cleaner look of the white ones.

@wagnerml2   That's a series 15 Spaceman. Just go to BL and hook yourself up with the parts you want.

Is there a white Galaxy Squad helmet?  It looks too red with the red o2 tanks.
  • deephorsedeephorse West Yorkshire, U.K.Member Posts: 83
    Yes.

I think it was on another CMF spaceman, though I may be wrong.  My knowledge of LEGO is not  encyclopedic.

Thanks for the input everybody. I'm liking the red tanks with galaxy squad helmet. :)
