Mercedes Benz Technic 42043

Anyone who has put this awesome set together I hope can give me some advice. Not sure if I am over thinking the build with the flexible tubes. When building the crane I wanted to confirm the tubes had to be cut to size. But I when I did that the tubes I cut seem to be too small. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

@Mikeylegos  Tubes are now coming already cut to the proper size, you just need to find the right one and match it to the size chart on the page it is used.

There are a variety of sizes included, as to be used exactly as they are. The call out on the pages is not great since it says the length, and just assumes you can either measure it, or figure out what is longer/shorter.

Some me people have trimmed the hoses a bit so it all fits better, but it is not needed.

    Hi @Mikeylegos

As above - you shouldn't need to cut anything, but you do need to be careful when selecting the appropriate tube.  Most of the relevant pages have a 1:1 diagram that you can measure against.

Take your time when you're hooking the tubing up - occasionally it's not immediately obvious which connector you should be joining to, or how to route the tube.  Once or twice I had to jump forward a few pages in the manual to get a different view.

And the other thing I'd suggest, when you're building the crane turntable, is that you keep checking the range of movement - it ought to rotate 180 degrees, but it's easy to get things snagged, so keep checking at every stage that it can still swivel smoothly.

Other than that, have fun - it's a fantastic set!

A Stud is 7.8 mm wide so if you don't have a ruler you can at least divide the specified lenght by 7.8 and then line the hoses up a baseplate or bricks to count studs.  Looks like there are only 7? different lengths of hoses.

This is all great advice. I appreciate it. I have been taken my time and seems to be going well. Still have a lot of work left to do. This is a great set.
