@gobias1234 Have you tried entering a minimum quantity to your BL search? You can also sort your search results by Lowest/Highest Quantity.

A quick search seems to indicate one seller in the Czech Republic has 1500+ of these bricks in stock. Their shipping rates for large parcels, including to the US, also seem reasonable-ish.
You taught me something new! I will so that particular store to the librarian....But as a stay-at-home mom my budget is a little more limited to donate! : )

@gobias1234 Glad I was able to at least provide you some useful information, even though I misunderstood your request! It's sometimes easy to forget that not everybody is looking for 100/1000's of the same brick :)
Hopefully @KingAlanI can provide you with what you need. Lego also sells a box with basic 2x2 and 2x4 Duplo bricks ( #6176 ) in Europe, but according to the Brickset listing this is no longer available in the US since 2011. Current basic Duplo sets available in the US unfortunately don't seem to contain many 2x4's.

The library will need that much so thanks for the great info! They are wanting to build a lego wall to go with a program for preschoolers...it is pretty neat!
There is probably a way for the librarian to get a large amount through Lego that isn't available to the general public but this is a small way I can contribute.

As much as I love Lego and their sets...I find their "build buckets," to be quite lackluster.  Not enough pieces to build what my kiddo wants to build, too many pieces that she doesn't want to use...so I have been building my own build buckets for my kids (one system and one duplo for my littlest,) through Bricklink for Christmas.  It has been quite fun!

@gobias1234 I look forward to your order.
Yeah, parts sets often have a small amount of what you want and a lot you don't.
If they're building a wall, do they want a few 2x2's for the ends of every other level?

I often wonder how kids feel about the current build buckets; with so many new colours you only seem to get a small number of bricks in each. My biggest need as a kid was usually for large quantities of brick in one colour, so the supplementary packs were a godsend...

On the other hand, I saw thrm as a good way to get rare colors. Friends/Elves/Disney Princess are also good for that.

Just want to warn fellow brickset sellers about a buyer.

had A very small order a couple of weeks ago from buyer 'sufi19'

today he has given me negative feedback and initiated a NSS, no communication from him prior to this to say there was a problem. Normally if I had more of the same parts I would send them out again, but clearly this guy is unreasonable as he's not giving me a chance to try and sort it out!

    My store is Aztec Bricks

Just getting into this and it is a lot of fun. I have 20.000 parts but also mf and some sets.

I will give you 10% discount for the rest of October and November if you mention Brickset.

My kids like them. They don't let the small number of bricks in each colour stop them. The youngest doesn't care too much about colour when making a building, the oldest uses them to make patterns in brickwork, etc.

Here is my new store http://www.bricklink.com/store/home.page?p=jjohnson1675&utm_content=globalnav#/splash

We haven't made a sale yet, and all of my inventory isn't up yet (still have a lot to go).

But we are open for business.

Same here, sometimes it takes awhile to list everything. I might get busy filling current orders or with non-LEGO stuff. Used parts need to be sorted and identified. I might be deciding whether to keep a set myself, sell whole, part out, or keep some parts. I want to check prices on most parts.

I heard people talk about how long it takes to get your inventory uploaded, and they were not joking. Very lengthy process.
  • SprinkleOtterSprinkleOtter Member Posts: 2,780
Funny, I never take more than a few second to upload inventory. The most I ever take at a time is a few minutes ;)

^ If you're parting out new sets it doesn't take much time at all.  If you're sorting, identifying, counting and then uploading used lots the whole process takes a lot of time.

    oh grate....
amazon are going to price match and that going to make #70323 about 50% off....
the good news is the wait time on amazon is "Usually dispatched within 1 to 3 months." so now i dont feel quite so pissed off about it. and the 38% saving i got from Smyths is still not anything to scoff at.

What would be a realistic timeframe between paying and expecting an order to be sent.
I know it will vary between sellers but lets say I was invoiced on a Friday and paid same day, is a week a long time before BL should say posted, bear in mind it has been "packed" for the last two days?
  • RakulRakul Member Posts: 183
^ My first question is does the seller have anything in their terms to indicate their shipping time?  Most ship within 3 days of cleared payment, but I have seen some that say they only go to the post office on such and such day.  If nothing in the terms and it has been a week since you paid I would reach out and ask them about it.

No nothing in their terms, after 4 days with no acknowledgement of them receiving my payment I emailed them and was told I should be seeing the instructions and parts list emailed shortly . Now BL states packed but still waiting, just thought I'd check what others think is acceptable and if it was just me being too keen

I've actually thrown a few pieces in my "keep" pile because I couldn't find the piece in the system. After I search through 5 or so categories I tend to give up, lol. Its usually more obscure parts that I only have like 1 or 2 of.

You don't really appreciate how many different pieces of Lego exist until you start a Brick Link store.

It's a mixed bag really. Some people are better at communicating than others... :P

As a buyer I've seen a lot of variation in shipping times, so if you have some kind of urgency I'd recommend checking what they say on their terms, and even checking previous feedback for hints on that subject.
BrickLink makes it easy to send a message to a buyer to say the package has been shipped, but some sellers don't go to that trouble.

As a seller I try to keep the buyer in the loop as much as possible, but then end up having to chase buyers to check if the order has arrived, and to check everything is okay and mark the order as completed...

Just a question for other sellers.  I am starting to see a large increase in foreign orders from 0 ranking members ordering 1 or 2 pieces.  More often than not these get canceled due to the shipping being so much.  Has anyone else seen this?

Yeah. Put in your terms how much international shipping is. Stopped the problem immediately for me.

^ I actually have in the terms it will be expensive, maybe I will put a min price or something.  Thanks for the tip.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
I have the minimum S&H price in the shipping method so it can be seen at check-out before the buyer commit. That helped levitate those issues a lot for me.

I have never tried, I just wish BL would forget about MOC store and their latest crazy idea of Stud.io and get their act in order on the bread and butter side of the business. Double billing this month and red warnings about closing stores for non payment etc does not lead you to have much confidence in their site. (rant over).

I'm glad it wasn't just me... the warning banner was a bit too invasive for me, especially first thing on Saturday morning!  I emailed the Admin Team about it on Saturday but they haven't replied, although they've added a statement in the Community forum confirming that it's been fixed and apologising for the chaos.

These things happen I guess, hopefully it won't happen again :-)

I don't know how things went you guys when you opened your stores, but we couldn't really be happier so far. We are doing at least 1 sale a day, sometimes more. That's is so completely beyond what I was expecting for our store, starting out. I thought maybe 1 sale a week would be awesome, but 1 per day, wow.

We are already thinking about what to buy to add to our inventory.

currently at 3 sales per week... but i only have sets, so its really goin good!

what hurts a bit is that people dont bother with feedback. i m only 1 feedback away from offering IBAN payment ....

My sales are still really slow. Getting less than 2 orders a week, and at 50k parts and prices a bit under average I was expecting more.

@CaptainPirateMan you must either have a pretty big store or selling too cheap...?
  • CaptainPirateManCaptainPirateMan Member Posts: 353
I am in the US, which makes me more attractive to other US buyers. That might be part of the reason as well. Every single one of my sales has been to a fellow US buyer.
    SprinkleOtterkiki180703
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
For the last 6 months I've averaged 1.5 orders a day and I normally keep 250k parts in inventory.  Down to ~210k as I haven't added anything in a while.  Taking a break from parting out sets.  Before I broke the like 100k part mark I probably didn't even get 1 order a week.

With how many shops are out there it is hard to get orders if you don't have a large number of distinct lots.  I've never had more than 6k (unique) lots.   The stores that have like 10k lots and millions of parts do a lot more business.

Being the US does help as it is the largest market on bricklink.  Over 1/3 of the stores and 1/2 of the members are in the US.  US-to-US shipping is fairly cheap shipping so people tend to lean that way to save on shipping.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
Got several small orders this week - here's hoping the big order is paid for and soon.
Got some clearance DUPLO, I like expanding that side of my store.
The sets weren't inventoried, so I had to submit catalog entries and images for the missing parts, then when that's approved I do set inventories. Learned something new. I added the already listed part sto my store one by one.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
    Parted out 4 #10605 , 8 #10819 , #70312 ,  #70600 recently
    Just listed 6 #30474
Lowered most minifig prices including CMFs, amongst other things set all minifig prices to $x.49 or $x.99
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
Just listed #41068 , including the Anna and Elsa dresses but not the rest of the minidolls.
I lowered prices on various parts, including using $x.x9 for many pieces.
I stopped looking up price for most every piece I part out.
  • brumeybrumey Member Posts: 1,002
    this is a little rant.
out of 5 orders i get feedback for just 1. people dont seem to bother at all!

this will take forever for me to offer IBAN payment!

Yeah @brumey, I find a lot of BL buyers aren't very good at leaving feedback.
Might I ask why you're so keen on offering IBAN payment? I'm guessing it's to avoid PayPal fees (although there might be some bank fees), but won't buyers prefer PayPal to get the buyer protection? And IBAN payments will take some time to come through, so it slows everything down.

I assume it's the particular set box you have issues with rather than set boxes in general used for packing? I reuse boxes all the time, the inner boxes from the Technic Porsche and the Ideas sets have particularly have good boxes and I think it's nice to get a Lego delivery in a Lego box, I often throw in a brick separator too for a laugh and to reduce my ever growing stock :-)

Yeah, mainly the set box. That and that it was 100% covered in brown tape to conceal the fact that it was a LEGO set box. That made for a challenge to open- the order was for a large boat hull, so I couldn't use a box cutter for risk of hitting the hull inside.

When I get a large enough stock of Brick Separators or Rubber Band holders, I think I'm going to advertise "Free Brick with every order!" ;)

I recently listed a #41067 - some of its figures have stickered parts. I initially put them up unstickered but changed my mind. Since I was using the sticker sheet, I also added stickered versions of other parts.

    Other recent additions include 6 #10697, 2 #30447, #41118, #41172, 2 #41174, 2 #70312, 2 #70600 . #10622 is forthcoming.

I got a ton of part sorting done tonight but I still have a huge backlog.
