Amazon currently has the set on sale for $149.93. Not sure how long this will last, but its a pretty good deal.

Well it WAS just on sale for 130 on black friday from the lego store. Maybe it will go on sale for the day after christmas sale?
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
It is sold out from Lego and is unlikely to come back, but otherwise you'd be completely correct. :)

I actually lucked out, walked into the Lego store this weekend on Sunday, they were sold out, but someone had one on "hold" in the back, but had not picked it up in a few days, so they sold it to me. :)
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
^really? Darn, I wanted to get a back up before they disappeared.

Tex get your credit card out again.

^ @LegoFanTexas - has your credit card company not been on to you with a query about 'unsual activity'?? :o)

^ Maybe its not that unusual :)

@flump6523 - ahh well, it helps to have a wallet full of credit cards to spread the pain around... ;)

You guys are right, IF is back on [email protected], and still on sale too! It works out with VIP points to be $10 less than Amazon after tax.
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
The IF can't be added to the cart, and when you go to the full product page, it goes back to full price with no "add to cart" button.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
I just bought another one online, so it worked this morning...

I just looked again, it has been changed to "call to check product availability".

But it did work for a little while. :)

I just got the "the demand for this product exceeded expectations..yadda yadda...your order is cancelled " e-mail.

I purchased 3 of these from amazon for $150. The manager at my lego store confirmed these are gone for good and will not be coming back. Given the demand seems like an awfully good price to me.

I just the cancellation for the IF and I ordered it first thing Brick Friday morning... go figure.
  • andystarandystar Member Posts: 275
Just got of phone with LEGO CSR, he told me that any Imperial Flagship orders that occurred after mine will also be cancelled. If so I expect A LOT of cancellation emails will be going out today. However, I find it hard to believe that they would have sold out so quickly, I ordered mine around 8:30am the first day of the sale. And why would they keep putting it back up for sale over the course of the next several days....
  • andystarandystar Member Posts: 275
Ok very odd, my first IF order (8:56am Nov 25) is cancelled, but my second IF order (4:57pm Nov25) just shipped. It appears LEGO does not honor the earliest orders, but uses some other method to determine who gets the IF.
  • shoutingshouting Member Posts: 4
That's bad. I placed my order in the early 6AM and got the cancelled e-mail, too. Why don't they honor the earliest orders.....

@shouting Anyone else having this happen to them? I have a confirmed shipment for an IF for an order placed at 4:57pm on Nov 25th, with tracking number showing it has already left the FedEx facility.

Maybe start a list of who has had orders shipped/cancelled and the time of the order:

    Nov 25 @ 8:54am - order cancelled Nov 29th
    Nov 25 @ 4:57pm - order shipped Nov 28th

where do you see the time the orders were placed? I placed 4 separate orders (2 for IF, 2 for AT-OT) and they all came in today... I placed them around 12-1am Central time

I am just using the timestamp of the email LEGO sent confirming my order, but I believe that took about 30min from my actual order.
  • DavidRod8DavidRod8 Member Posts: 143
well, for me it's hard because I only got two confirmation emails from them, and it took them quite some time to send them to me... usually when you buy something online they send you a confirmation pretty fast (not just Lego, but any other website) but it took a long time to get them... I was worried I wasn't getting them, but the orders were registered on the site....
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ Yep, same here. I think I only had two confirmation emails. I had eight orders. Four have shipped, with three due to arrive tomorrow and one the next day. Two other orders have backordered items. The final two are "in process."

My IF order was canceled days ago, but now LEGO just canceled my Dropship order, when they had them in stock for days after I bought it. i passed up buying it in the store at the same discount TWICE because I ordered it online. Now the in-store sales are over for now. I have to say - I don't know how much I will be ordering directly from LEGO again in the future. They simply aren't reliable.

I purchased an IF on Friday and it was cancelled. This morning (early) I noticed it was for sale again, so I ordered it. It still shows in process, so I decided to call Lego CS and ask about why mine was cancelled on Friday due to sell out and yet I could order one this morning. The Lego CS rep put me on hold for 10 minutes and then came back on to say that he was unaware that they had gone back on sale again; however, he checked my new order and it showed in his system as completed and about to ship. He said I was "really lucky." I then asked if I could get the 10% discount since I had ordered it previously and it should have received an additional 10% off. I was put on hold for another 10 minutes, and he came back on to say that Lego was refunding 10% of this set (at its sale price) back to my credit card. I really like Lego CS. They are the best!!!

Do you have a good relationship with the people at your LEGO store? If so, I'd ask them to make a deal with you if they still have dropships in stock. Explain the situation.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
@brickupdate - I completely understand your frustration, but this is going to happen this time of year, [email protected] just isn't Amazon, they really aren't setup for the holiday surge... Should they be? That is another question, but they aren't, and that is that.

This is why I bought both in store and online, no way to know if the online orders are going to ship. I had already bought two IF from [email protected], but when I walked in on Sunday and there was one sitting there, I didn't think twice, grabbed it and bought it, just in case. :)
  • Farmer_JohnFarmer_John Member Posts: 2,405
I've ALWAYS had a good experience when dealing with Lego. I'm sure if you called them and express your frustration with your experience, they would either round a dropship up for you or compensate you in some other way.

Last year, they sent me a set that arrived loose in the box (the plastic came off and pieces were everywhere). In the meanwhile, it sold out at [email protected] I called them about it and their rep searched their B&M store inventories and had one of the stores directly ship me another. Unfortunately, they sent me the wrong set. So, another rep searched their stores again and had them directly ship me another. Again, it was the wrong set, so another rep searched again and I was finally shipped the correct set. I offered to ship the other sets back, but they told me they were mine for my trouble. And get this...they also added $15 in VIP dollars (not points, but dollars) to my account. TLG has one of the best CS departments out there in my opinion.

When the raw materials and manufacturing cost for a $100 RRP set is about 2 bucks in plastic and cardboard it probably costs them more to process the return then it is worth.

Unfortunately, many of us do not have local stores and can only rely on Lego S&H (I am in that group). That's why during our family's annual trip to my in-laws we take part of a day to go to a Lego Store that's close to their home. The kids plan and save all year just for that 1-2 hour visit to Lego. Of course they don't mind their grandparents spoiling them either.

@Farmer_John are you willing to share your order # for your IF that was placed an shipped today? It may help those of us who ordered on Brick Friday and had their orders cancelled.

Thanks everyone - good advice. LEGO's phone reps have been helpful in the past. I will call them tomorrow, and perhaps as @sidersdd suggested, even call my local store to see if they would work a deal.
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ For example. The AT-ATs were 25% off on-line only. They sold out pretty quick. I went into my LEGO store and asked if they'd match the 25% off, since they were sold out on-line. They were happy to.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
@sidersdd - did they do it for a single set, or multiple sets of AT-AT?
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ I bought two. This was on Sunday.
  • brickmaticbrickmatic Member Posts: 1,071
Bought two IF at my local LEGO store yesterday at 25% off. The exclusive holiday set promotion was still in effect so I got two of those for free and they also had a PAB promotion for each $75 spent so I got three of those for free. So glad I went to the store because I really thought I had missed out on the sale since it sold out online.
  • shoutingshouting Member Posts: 4
It's available online now with the full price.
Since it's not sold out, how could they cancel my order ?
  • legowin2010legowin2010 Member Posts: 8
Just a quick question: Does 'backordered' means 'canceled'?
I received an email stating the IF that I ordered was out of stock, and when I checked my order status, it said 'backordered'
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
It now says "call to check product availability"

Don't think that just because it is on the web site, they actually have any left... I suspect they will be sending out a LOT of cancel order e-mails...
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
Well, Amazon took their price back up to $179.99. They still have more than 1,000 in stock. I'm glad they raised the price, I was tempted to get yet another one. It's now been 12 hours without a LEGO purchase. I'm trying to be strong...
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
    @brickupdate - Ha! 12 whole hours? ;)

Yea, the recent sales have made me feel that way as well...

@Brickupdate - I feel you, my lego brother...I feel you.

I must admit that this site doesn't help me resist temptation. Everytime I think I'm done buying, somebody posts another good sale. It's like a bunch of alcoholics saying they are going to quit drinking...oh, but by the way somebody is buying rounds for everybody next door. I guess I'm just a legoholic...sigh.

My IF came in today and it was apparently cut open by a box cutter prior to shipping it to me. My wife and I were going to build it anyway as a evening project once the kiddos were in bed, so no big deal. Just glad to have it at a good price. I probably would have returned it if I planned on selling it or had paid full price for it. If it happens to be missing any pieces, I will contact lego to have them send me the missing pieces, so no biggie.
  • DavidRod8DavidRod8 Member Posts: 143
My local Lego store has them in stock, but they are back at the regular price. I don't understand how they can cancel online orders while they still have stock, not a very good business practice...
  • Farmer_JohnFarmer_John Member Posts: 2,405
    I agree...

I can see Wal-Mart, TRU, or Amazon doing that as they are independent, but not Lego.
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
Go to your local LEGO store with a copy of your cancelled online order... They may be willing to honor the price... OR call customer service and tell them that stores have them in stock and ask if they can have one shipped to you from a store.

I suspect you'd have better luck going directly to the store, especially if you have a relationship with the store employees.
