Cargo Train Shipping Box

Hi Folks!

Does anyone know how many Cargo Train 60052 sets are fit inside the original Lego shipping box? Is it 2 or 3? Is the Passenger Train 60051 shipping box the same?

I'm going to buy some of these sets from an onone retailer here in Canada who are notoriously bad for packaging. I'll order the right multiples so they can keep the sets in the shipping boxes.

Thanks in advance!

and no, they are not the same 60051 and 60052. 60052 is almost square, while 60051 is a flatter rectangular.

That's in Europe. In North America, they're supposed to be the same size at 58.2 cm x 37.8 cm. They're different depths (i.e. "thickness") though.

TRU Canada uses long flat shipping boxes that open on the small ends opposed to the top. The cardboard is fairly soft and tends to get crushed if anything is set on top of them. If you order the quantity that the come in the shipping box from Lego, TRU Canada will usually ship in those, which have a better track record for arriving undamaged although the shipping box has no internal padding so more of a chance of a corner getting smashed then being crushed from the top.

Walmart ships in more conventional boxes that open from the top (large side) they have a better crush rating. however I have had walmart squish a modular diagonally into a box to make it fit. needless to say it was damaged. Same as TRU if you order the multiples of the Lego shipping box they will throw a label on it and ship in that box instead.

    I've had great experience with Amazon.ca .

Sears.ca puts the set in a plastic bag, or slaps a label on the lego box. It's outrageous. 100% chance of damage....

Chapters/indigo I've only order smaller items and they were packed properly.

Best buy, I've only used once for multiples of a smaller set and it came in the Lego shipping box.

Lego.ca would be the last online retailer in Canada I've used and I think we are all familiar with their tendency to put a large heavy set on top of a prickly promo poly in the bottom.

I know about 2 years ago there was a thread about number of sets in a shipping box, but it faded away. I would definitely be interested in knowing, but it's a less used statistic so would be hard to keep up to date with the number of sets that are released.

^^^ Nice post!  Yeah, it was TRU. But I've found them at Costco.ca for about 20%.

I have ordered a couple times from Costco online, and packaging was adequate, but I'll still order multuples to help my ods.

My worst shipping experience was last month from Walmart. I bought 2 UCS Red 5 Xwings and they shipped them separately with no outer box at all. Literally slapped the UPS stickers right on the Lego set box. The boxes managed to stay sealed, but obviously are completely destroyed. I still need to fight with them on it.
