What UCS Set should be made next?

With the news of a brand new Death Star upcoming in the Ultimate Collector Series, I am curious to know what you guys think the next UCS model should be.

I would personally love an updated UCS Tantive IV....what about you?

A new UCS Millennium Falcon. Tough for those who have the previous one as it would probably see its value drop, but for those of us without it would be a cheapest way to add a version to our collection.

Honestly, it's the perfect way to get into UCS models for the new movie. He's cute, already a fan favorite, and (hopefully) will head the R2-D2 route in terms of legendary status and not the Jar Jar path.

I would love to put a BB-8 next to the UCS R2. Of course, I missed the damn R2 since I don't collect sets that aren't minifig scale, but I'm still kicking myself because I actually wanted that one.

I want an A-Wing.

The B-Wing didn't sell very well, and from what I understand neither the Jedi Starfighter from Episode II, so I don't think there's much hope for one, but the A-Wing has always been my favorite starfighter from the original movies.

I'd guess something from the new movie. BB-8 would be nice but I think that it would be a significant space ship first. Perhaps the new MF but my money would be on a new design.

Whatever it is, it should have a UCS plaque, a bound instruction book and the UCS branding on the box.

MF should be remade as now there is a much larger market for a set of its size than there was when it first came out, second has to be a AT-AT hard to believe they still haven't made one.

Not really - as those who've built UCS AT-AT MOCs can confirm, stability is a big issue. That's OK for a MOC, but it'd be well-nigh impossible to design a UCS-sized AT-AT to LEGO's exacting standards of stability.

I'd also vote for an A-wing, although I think that remakes of previously-released sets and Force Awakens stuff is what we'll actually get.

It will be interesting to see if there is any type of "re-make".  I believe the X-Wing fighter Red Five was the first re-make of a UCS set.  The gap was about 15 years.  So, I'll be interested to see if another re-make is on the horizon or something new.

I'm also wondering how well the Tie Fighter UCS is selling.  I found the designer video decidedly uninspiring.

Agreed! I love looking at it from a distance, but I don't dare even breathe on it for fear of it toppling over. I re-built it one too many times last year for me to chance anything with it...

Most of what I'd like as UCS models will never likely happen, the Ebon Hawk, the Outrider, the Moldy Crow, TIE Defender, (Obi-Wan's) ETA2 Jedi Interceptor.

I realise that this won't be a popular suggestion with the long-term collectors, but as someone who only came back into LEGO this year, I'd really like a re-designed Snowspeeder. #10240 got me back into the hobby, and (in my opinion at least) it's much improved over the original UCS X-wing from 2000...

I think a it could be time for a re-release of the Star Destroyer, MF or a new Cloud City, a Landspeeder, or as prviously suggested a Degobah Yoda Hut.

Like @tecjam said,if a re-release is necessary (and i think it is,since except the AT-AT almost all "important"vehicled have been made so far) i would vote for a the Star Destroyer! It's been a while since the first one and from what i know the magnet technique is pretty weak and i'm sure TLC could come up with a better solution! It's def.a pretty iconic ship and i would love to own a UCS version :)

Its a problem for sure but not one that Lego could not over come. Remember that fan mocs tend to focus on the overall look more than stability. The other thing to consider about these mocs is that they are probably a lot bigger than one Lego would make. I am sure Lego could make one if they wanted to but I think the reason we have not got one yet is because it would need a very large the kind of size we have only seen with the MF and DS so far.

Thanks for the pictures, this kind of makes my point. We know that us AFOL could make a borg cube look fantastic but that would fall apart if you looked at it in the wrong way. Look at the picture and look at the Lego versions that have been made. Where are the exposed technic elements running down the legs, I can see a number of week points that look great but where Lego would have chosen stability over style.

Thing is, an important part of the UCS trademark IS style.... They're display sets, not playsets, so substantial compromises (like bolting big, ugly Technic beams to the outsides of an AT-AT's legs) would likely kill the idea stone dead.

Star Wars has far too many UCS sets already.
I would say 
UCS Taj Mahal, or UCS Houses of Parliament,
UCS Familia Sagrada, or UCS Petronas Towers.
Or maybe a UCS Burj Al Arab

And UCS is only a designation or label Lego has chosen to use to put the high end models in the Star Wars line apart from the sets designed for kids.  I mean, the vehicles Lego has been doing (Mini Cooper, VW Bus, Ferrari) would qualify as models for adults and Lego could brand them as UCS if they wanted to.  It's similar to the question of what makes something "Creator" instead of "City".  I think it's just which design group the set comes out of at Lego, and clearly Creator has a wide range of age groups the sets are designed for.

^ On that basis the batmobile is as much UCS as the Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon. LEGO have been flakey at best with their UCS labeling (as we all know).

But they didn't. And that's what "Expert" is for now (but not the Ferrari because it lacks that fine detail).

I think there are quite a few people who think UCS is more than just Star Wars. I also think that's a marketing mistake that might have cost sales. I wonder how many more people would've sat up and been interested in UCS sets they knew it was a tighter categorisation.

The idea that "it's just another ultimate whatever" meant that people didn't realise (and apparently still don't) that there was a very specific series of high-detail Star Wars sets. UCS sets were "just" more expensive Star Wars sets. They're a bit more special than that.

UCS is Ultimate Collector's Series, which has Ultimate Collector sets. The Batmobile is an Ultimate Collector set. It qualifies.

I wonder...should Lego place more of the Expert sets under the UCS designation? That would be interesting.

I'm not going to argue as to what UCS is - we all know what it stands for and thus I think it is equally valid to use UCS for the Helicarrier and the 2 Batman vehicles as I see them as collector & display Items without real play value.

Using the UCS stamp for #10188 however, I totally disagree.

Idk.....it is very borderline. While it is a fantastic playset, its sheer size and display value may just give it the UCS qualification. It could have gone either way I guess.

@tecjam I think the Ewok Village is more of a playset than a display set. There are so many more play functions than in the Death Star.

Of course though its not called 'Ultimate Display Series' and I see no reason why a collector can't collect play sets just as easily as display sets.

It's a good point. If they don't have UCS on the box, and they don't have a UCS plaque when they're on display, why would these playsets be UCS sets?
