Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,390
Does anyone know what this year's employee gift was? I haven't found any info yet.

I don't think the employees get their gift until a couple of days before Christmas, in the UK at least. The 22nd I think. Certainly that's what the employee I spoke with a few days ago told me.

So not enough time to flip it on eBay for Christmas delivery! :-)

Employees get their gift during the last shift before Christmas day.

Senior management, on the other hand...

The employee gift this year is the Borkum Riffgrund wind farm.

I wonder the reasoning behind it. Cancelled order from a company and getting rid of stock? It is nothing like previous ones, so maybe this is an extra for people in certain locations.

From this reddit thread, it appears it was made for a company called DONG energy for their employees.

80 or so of them have sold in the past few days at BL, so I'm guessing it is true that this is the Christmas gift set. Most sellers are from the Czech Republic and Hungary and have multiples of them, so I guess they buy them off other co-workers to sell them on.

According to the employee magazine, TLG owns 32% of Borkum Riffgrund, so that explains why they created such a nice set for a wind farm company and also used it as the 2015 employee gift.

Not very christmassy, but a really nice set! I wants it...

Looks like a wonderful set! Often the Christmas set does not have that theme, which is fine with me. We need more original sets like this depicting something in the real world. Doubt I will buy one, but I still love the design. (New Architecture sets are my priority in the New Year.) It is easy to understand why Czech workers are selling them; they need the money for the holidays. (They deserve a Merry Christmas, too. That also is fine with me.) There are no employee Christmas sets in my collection, but it is wonderful that they do this for employees each year.

I'm on vacation this week.  Plus, as much as I want to derail this topic, I'll beg off.

(DONG energy specializes in the erection of...)

It is a neat item, but it not being minifig scale helps me miss it less than something like Ole Kirk's house

In case it was in doubt, I can confirm the gift is 4002015. It's a very, very nice model and has lovely artwork, with some interesting facts and photographs printed on the box. The turbine can also be manually rotated from the back.

Lego also sent out folding chairs.  For those keeping track.

It's a pretty nice looking model in the photo's, not sure i'd splash out £200 on one, although they do seem to be coming down somewhat still.

i would love to have one.

@SumoLego The folding chairs didn't work out the best. The down side to the chairs is that you have to try and force the chair part onto these metal rods. It doesn't quiet fit. But hey it is a Lego Memorabilia!

^ I'm always far more intrigued at the non-Lego gift that Lego sends their employees.

I suppose one can never have too many fleece bed covers.  Or mongramed folding chairs...
