Seasonal Display 2015

rather than search out last years old thread (I did start but gave up). I thought I would start a 2015 specific thread to show of your seasonal displays

as normal our house goes big with the winter village. This year there are are plenty of new additions, the winter scene gaming mat that entire display is sat on for one thing. All the official models are present and correct and a number of custom buildings including a pub, a church, a log cabin, village square, outdoor shopping arcade (book shot, jam shop, outdoor pizza place and lemonde and cookie cafe. There are also a sprinkling of oddities like the Yeti's and a number of collectable MF's also Batman, Robin and a polar bear...

The Hogwarts train is fully power functioned up with working lights and in the morning I suspect a night bus might be added. There is a custom Tardis and a few Star Wars chaps in there as well. Anyway, enjoy and share your own.

    Very nice. :-)

I like the mat as well, which sets everything off nicely.

Very nice. I rebuilt Santa's workshop and the freebie elf workshop from last year today. Got decorators in until early next week,  soon as they're done I'll build the winter toyshop,  Winter Market Village and perhaps modify the Lone Ranger train slightly. Pics soon as they're all built and displayed.

Good idea @monkey_roo! Yours looks great....
It's my first year of doing a display and only got a couple of sets. I am 2/3rds done, got two display area's, one the village square, the other a diorama type. Still got Santa's workshop to build and thinking of incorporating the frozen castle and maybe some Arctic things. But this is us so far... Not a great deal of Moc-ing yet but only having the toy shop and workshop built for the first time is fun enough ;)

And... I am out of white plates!

Had to go small this year because of my 1 year ole, and eliminate the Holiday train and 9v set up as well as several duplicate bakeries.  Also still need to build Santa's workshop.

I like what everyone set up.

I think legos are close to the end in my house.   I brought out the seasonal boxes for the kids to set up last week.   They took a few out, and saw they needed a little assembly, and then put them all back.  I asked who wanted to help me put them together and set up the display? They had other things they wanted to do.    So yesterday, I put all the sets back in the garage.    My little girl's advent calendar only made it to day 9....the rest are still closed up :(

I started collecting the winter village sets only this year, so the only sets I have are the updated Toy Shop, Santa's Workshop and the Bakery (because I could get it not too expensive), I'm soo sad I missed out on the Post Office and the Market and I'm not willing to pay more than double the price of the original set.. :(

OlympicMiniMiles and I have spent a satisfying morning tidying ours up for the annual photograph. All the standard sets plus a few MOCs over the years.

I would not give up too quickly. Sometimes kids will show less interest just because parents are showing interest, and jump back in when the parents look the other way. Even building Lego sets could be seen as "work" when there are sets that need to get set up for a display rather than just dumping out a pile and playing. My grandson has no  interest in "sets", but yesterday he spent almost an hour playing with 8 Duplo blocks, rebuilding the same little tower over and over again.

When I started getting my grandson involved with Duplo blocks I picked up the Duplo Airport, and for some reason my grandson had decided the jet engines belong on top of the wings. It took me a few minutes to realize that he was right, because that is where HE wanted them to be.

Sadly, my Winter sets are still in their original boxes as I've yet to make space for them to be opened, fixed up and display.

Though I've got space for the smaller seasonal sets as below :)

Just put the finishing touches on the 2015 edition if our household winter village yesterday. Our mantel has a space just big enough for a train loop which is great but doesn't leave much surface space so I had to think up not out. Now that I have my proof of concept done I'm looking forward to 2016!

I am bummed because I simply ran out of time to put up our Christmas display. Instead, I will put up our 'winter' non-holiday display in January. We have enough Lego related to this time of year, that I usually  do two different displays. This means I can get put all my sets out, just at different times.
