Help me identify this crown

Hi everyone. I'm a frequent user of this forum although I do not post much, so thanks for an awesome page.
Now to buissness, I recently bought theese three crowns on a swedish buy/sell-page, one gold crome, one silver crome and one transparent. All three of them says LEGO© on the inside of the crowns but is the transparent one genuine? Could it be a prototype?
Thanks in advanced

I am not saying I know anything but wouldn't you think that is a pre chrome crown.

My best guess is a chrome crown with the chrome taken off. I have seen several old style swords that used to be chrome, but the chrome has been so degraded over time that the sword is basically clear now. My guess is that crown underwent a much cleaner chrome removal process. :P

That sounds like it could be true, and if that's the case it's not a huge loss since I paid 18 sek which is about 2$. Thanks :)

Or it was never chromed in the first place. That sounds more likely as I suspect it would be very difficult to get it perfectly clean again. That might make it desireable.

Well, then lets hope more for the later explanation :)

This thread suggests there is a small chance that out there somewhere is a transparent Mr Gold who just never got chromed. @samiam391 probably has one ;).

Mr Gold may not be transparent underneath. Is anybody prepared to cut theirs open to determine whether he is or not?  You have to do each part as they may be different.

Ooh, I wish I could make a completely transparent minifigure with that crown on its head. That would be dope!

I've been wanting a full trans light blue minifig forever to make a Jedi ghost, I was kinda mad when Lego only released 1 side for the trans light blue leg during the whole Chima lineup. What a tease!!

I can't find anything about this trans-clear crown, no sales on BrickLink, which intrigues me even more about it... ;) I am a bit of a nut for trans-clear/light blue stuff and special color parts. Can you confirm that this is a real Lego piece @BlockFromSweden

@bobabricks As I said before all of the crowns do have LEGO© in them where you connect the crown to the head, but I do not know anything more.
I tried to capture the text in it, I don't know how it turned out but here we go

There isn't really a problem with the crown itself. Chrome finishes are lacquered onto something else. We've already seen that swords are transparent underneath. That's more important than you might think. It isn't just an arbitrary colour, it means that the base part isn't made of ABS but from polycarbonate. Presumably there's a reason for that, but it suggests that's how other chromed parts are likely to be made.

The question is whether it somehow escaped the production line between moulding and lacquering or whether it's been stripped. Considering the deep crevices, I would suggest the former is more likely unless there are obvious signs to the contrary.

You like transparent stuff? Find something that's chromed and see what you can do.

Looks like there are too many spots that would have been tricky to remove all the chrome, so I'd go with @TigerMoth, it's either one that slipped through, or possibly a test piece (probably more likely it just slipped through).

Are we going to uncover a secret Lego counterfeiting ring? Cue the Mission Impossible music!

It's most likely that it was misappropriated, either deliberately or because it fell from a production line.
