Bricktober vs Gingerbread House

Thought I'd see people's thoughts in the future value between the Toyrus exclusive buildings this year and the LEGO exclusive gingerbread house. Have one if each so far just considering who to buy the Doctor Who set thru and which freebie to go for.

with Toysrus can get Bricktober with 40 spend but if I get to 75 you get £20 voucher.

with Lego get gingerbread house with 60 spend but if I make it £30 worth of Star Wars lego I'll get the C3PO poly bag.

both have similar Quidco cash back.

where to spend? :)

DOH you're right. That might tip it to the LEGO side

And you forgot VIP points anyway.  I had the same question as you and decided that the Lego offering was quite a bit better (and I didn't have to shop at TRU), even before I knew I wouldn't get a bricktober set.

I think the gingerbread house will have a better future value and I also think that the Lego offering is better.

IMO The Gingerbread House has a broader possible fanbase than the mini-modulars.There are most likely many more collectors of the Xmas-winter sets than Bricktober buildings, which only look good alongside other mini-mods so you either like & collect them or not. Whereas the Gingerbread house can be easily added to any xmas theme or many other scenarios. There might be a gingerbread house hidden somewhere deep in the woods behind Elsa's Ice Palace or Elves sets.Hey Keebler elves make cookies so a gingerbread house is not that far a stretch of the imagination ;)
