@Shib, half snake & snake axe blade. The recolour for the Medusa hair piece could be useful too.

Thanks, @Shib! This is great news for me, in case my quest to trade for the Medusa CMF doesn't work out!

I'm excited about the copper swords, which are either a new or returning color — hard to know for sure until the sets are out. In any case, there haven't been actual copper plastic parts since 2008 (everything copper since then has been painted, printed, or lacquered), so it's exciting to see some form of copper again!

An awesome, versatile new part comes out, and that's really your chief concern? Even though the idea that LEGO is "tricking" people into paying more for less has been debunked time and time again? I mean, if the LEGO Group were motivated to use tiny pieces in order to drive up piece counts, they wouldn't be counting entire part collections like 11402, 92355, 93082, and 98393 as single pieces — they'd be counting each molded piece individually, like BrickLink does.

Mind you, if you don't trust price-per-piece, that's totally fine! It's definitely not a perfect measure of value, and you're welcome to use some other metric like price per gram instead (when comparing the value of sets, I try to use both, as well as more abstract metrics like number of minifigures). Generally, you'll find a similar result — that most of today's LEGO sets offer a value as good or better than sets of comparable size from the past.

Looks like there might be some new snake (or half snake) parts in next years Ninjago sets

There also appears to be some new sort of energy weapon part which could be useful for sci fi builds and a return of the galaxy squad egg parts in grey that look interesting too.
Not just grey—looks like Titanium Metallic/Pearl Dark Gray! The villain vehicles in next spring's Ninjago sets seem to use that color heavily, which is nice since it hasn't commonly been used for much other than weapon/armor pieces, so having more building elements in that color will be nice. Additionally, they seem to feature sword pieces in some sort of copper color—since Lego hasn't used such a color in several years it's hard to tell whether that's the same one from a few years back or a new formulation.

In other recolor-related news, 70623 includes the canoe piece in Olive Green for the first time. That piece isn't exactly common in any color these days. And the Dragon's Forge set features the new 4x4 "macaroni tile" in Reddish Brown.

I really like the 8-ball gear shift knob in Killer Croc's new truck. The green 2x2x1 window frames in Riddler's car are a nice re-color too.

Is that a new window piece in the new Creator 3 in 1 townhouse?
  • PeteMPeteM Member Posts: 445
I'm fairly sure it's the same one as in #60119 (and a few other sets) but with trans-clear windows.

Just noticed these 2x2 round bricks with pointy bits in a couple of next years Nexo Knights sets...not the most useful colour but could be interesting for texturing builds a little if we see other colours.

I think it's a plate with pointy bits. With another plate on the top.

I'd second @TigerMoth. Perhaps a piece the Mixels team designed but never used?

Also, has anyone noticed the 1/4 circle 1x1 tile with pizza decoration in the Pizza truck from City and Pizzaria from Friends lines? I also think they're using the CMF pizza design (with Pepperoni) as well (or at least a similar iteration).

I guess this is a new part in 31063: Beachside Vacation

While new cloth pieces have been introduced in other creator sets (4894), I still enjoy seeing creator reinventing the uses of already available pieces rather than creating new ones.

Nice to see a couple recolors in Flesh (Nougat) that popped up on the parts feed today from the Fantastic Beasts set.  Should be some great uses for these.

I saw several of the upcoming Marvel sets have a 'Power Blast!' graphic attached to a minifigure and it appears they are equipped with a new stud shooting something or other, presumably hand-held. Can anyone figure out what that is? Maybe the curvy trans blue thing next to Iron Man? ToysNBricks is where I saw them:

I am going to take a guess that when you press down on the longer blue part it pops out of the figure's hand giving it the feel of something shooting. Curious on how well it works.

Damn, Battle Suits are chock with new parts,

I didnt even even notice these until I was questioning if the instructions had a misprint, it's like a cheese slope combined with a 1x1 tile.

A little strange, of all the possible new part designs TLG could have made, that isn't an idea I would have expected.

Yeah, it seems odd at first when you consider you can get a similar effect with a cheese slope and a tile but it makes a lot of sense for small builds because it adds an extra strengthening point too

Can't really achieve the same thing with a cheese slope and tile since cheese slopes are ~30° angles, not a 45° angle like this. A more comparable part might be the "Stafford slope" (which has a similar shape but with a 1x1x2/3 space cut out of the top instead of the bottom).

Quite a nice idea, allowing Aaron's battle suit to use the shield as a hoverboard like the minifigure

I heard today in store that the new Nexo Knights (and also some new Friends and Technic sets) are meant to be being put out in TLG stores on the 19th in the UK. So that's exciting. In the mean time @shib - have you managed to find them in the wild somewhere?

Tesco- a few people have mentioned finding them in Tesco stores, but my local were taking them off the shelf yesterday

I'm fairly happy with some of the things Dimensions have been providing lately:

    New colour short legs.

Finally we can have Father and Son Stormtroopers with white legs!

I haven't seen that one before & I've been digging through Brickset, BrickLink, BrickOwl & Rebrickable for any parts that may be useful for MOCing, different connections like this are one of the things I'm keeping an eye out for.

So I guessed right when I said part that was visible looked like a Bracket 1×2, 2×2 Inverted, yay me! Curious are those Tile 2×2 Corners with the missing bit on his shoulders new, or is the reason you didn't mention them is they were in a set for 2016?

Exciting piece, and I'm already thinking about how it could enhance brick-built creations of organic subjects like the dragons from LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Elves or animals from LEGO Creator. It also raises the interesting possibility of putting them edge-to-edge to create a change in angle between two curved surfaces, kind of like a curved version of http://brickset.com/parts/4651936. Which, again, could be useful for dragons and the like to create a joint, but also for architectural features like roofs.

It's also in several of the 2017 Nexo Knights sets, though this is the first I've seen it in red.

Speaking of recolors, that 1x1 with vertical tooth in black is a great one. I had been hoping for such a part when I wanted to MOC an evil Elves dragon last year. We're finally getting one (in a different color) this year, so those plans have sort of fallen by the wayside, but nonetheless black could be a very useful color for that part.

Oh lovely. So taking a quick skim through I can see it in dark grey in 70365, but that's it. Am I missing anything else?

I'm always on the look out for interesting pieces in red and black, because they're lovely for my M:Tron MOCs. So, this and the vertical tooth in black are lovely for me too. It's nice to see the 2x2 22degree angled triangle plate from last year is making it into a few more sets in red this year too.

In the new images for 21130 there is a very unusual piece. It appears to be a "gapper" tile to deal with the offset of macaroni tiles that are jumpered over 2 studs.  It appears to be a 1x2 tile rectangle with a triangle extension that ends in a point centered between two studs.  On top of the 1x2 section, centered in the jumper position is a 1/2 stud wide tile that fills the gap.  This piece is fascinating because it seems very "non-System".
