Perhaps it was first designed to be used as a hat, but that never got released (yet?) and so they've put the piece to other uses, but the initial name as stuck.

Here's something I haven't seen mentioned: the little bags of parts in #76142 (and a few other sets), part numbers 6266155 and 6266977 are each counted as one part, but contain 13 and 14 parts, respectively. So #76142 has 25 more parts than the 226 the box says... and that doesn't include the usual extras, 1x1 round plates, technic pins, etc.

Yup. This is because those sorts of pre-packs come off the same mold all at once and are immediately bagged. Sort of like the old tool wheels that had a wide variety of tools on a large sprue, only the modern versions tend to not come on a sprue at all. Or a little like the randomly packaged rubber "Krana" and Kraata" collectibles that came with the Bohrok and Rahkshi sets, which had six to eight varieties of any given color or color combination come off the same mold but only included one random one in each set.

The benefit of that is that for parts like that that can typically be used together, it costs much less to have them all molded together than to have to invest in a separate steel mold for each version. Even for sets that don't use all of the parts in the pre-pack, the cost savings still adds up to more than the extra cost of including those extras. And people who buy the sets are rarely going to complain about getting extras—for many people that just seems like added value!

Interestingly, I recently built #70431, which like the other Hidden Side sets this year includes the new pre-pack of ghost accessories (6313372), but unlike many of those others does not actually prescribe how any of the parts should be used anywhere in the instructions or even on the boxart. Between that and the new inclusion of extra unused stickers on the sticker sheets of some sets in the Ninjago and Hidden Side theme, Lego seems to be starting to make gestures encouraging free-form customization rather than just strict adherence to the instructions in some sets.

It's times like this I wish we had Lego Stores in Australia, particularly one in Adelaide, that or TLG add BAM to the online store & have to same parts from Lego Stores' PAB available through the online PAB...

Coming from Ireland with the same lack of Lego stores and having not travelled abroad for several years, I'd second that idea adding them to the online store, even if only for those countries without a physical store.

They might as well just add them for everyone. It's less complicated (and we know how good LEGO is at webstores) and some people in countries where there are LEGO stores probably live further away from a store than some people in countries where there are no stores.

I'd like to see someone claim that where Australia is concerned, according to TLG's own search tool, my nearest stores are LEGO Store Vienna (12566km (7808 miles)) & LEGO Store Berlin (12858km (7990 miles)) lol...

If you know someone in AUS near or at Sydney, the certified store is reported to have the Easter BAM parts. (assuming there's stock left...)

The Lego Facebook sites are full of posts selling the figs at £3-£4 each so I guess people are grabbing as many as possible. I don’t go to the store that often so don’t know how often Lego restock this sort of item ?

Now that you mention it, that's a bit weird that TLG's own site doesn't give the Lego Store in Shanghai as an option (it's not a great option either, considering I'd be going there for a few minifigures that may or may not be in stock any longer by the time I get there).

I don't have any family or friends in Sydney or Melbourne, @xiahna has family in Queensland, but she hasn't seen any of them since her & her mum when up there when she was a teenager, so if the Dreamworld store has them, we might have an outside possibility there. Good to know though that the certified stores are getting these, now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that the company running these stores will eventually decide to open one in Adelaide.

We're not asking my family for anything, ever. I don't know them, I don't know what is true and what isn't about them, and from what I do remember, you'd end up paying a underworld crim less interest for a favor than you would them.

Yeah, there are a four colors in that one set that I saw, the standard yellow, tan, pearl gold, and red - but I think that only the red is new. A great parts pack for the collectors though!

The brick-built Minions set also has a new curved plate (like the existing 3x3 quarter round plate but with a 2x2 cutout).

The goggles on both Minions are also definitely new but it's hard to tell what they're quite like. The eyes rotate in the goggles, so depending on what the pieces are like with the eyes removed, the parts could be very useful.

Yes, it looks to be. Like the old 3x3x6 quarter domed window piece, but doubled up. The one in the final set looks like it will be printed, as well.

Looks like a 3x3 round tile in the Super Mario - Bowser Castle set. Also there looks to be 2x4 tiles with rounded corners.

We'd seen both parts printed in the previous video, but this set seems to have both unprinted!

Bowser's shell also uses a new piece for the "rim" around the edge... looks to be a little bigger than 6x6. The bulk of the shell seems to use standard parts, though.

And the Super Mushroom polybag has a new piece for the mushroom cap! Looks roughly 3x3 but not seeing the underside it's hard to tell whether the connection points themselves are angled or it's hollow with a hinge underneath.

Also, it looks like the Boo figure from the castle set MIGHT use a square 3x3 tile for its face? There aren't enough clear pics to be sure but it's hard to tell what else could provide a clear printable surface for what looks like a 3x3 shape.

Yeah I suspect there will be quite a lot of new elements in those sets, although most of them probably won't be much use outside of the theme!

I doubt it. The virus can only live so long on the parts in stores, and the Easter parts were already released (unless the local stores are sold out of the parts already), so they will likely be available once stores reopen. My concern is if LEGO did not produce the parts scheduled for the release in April (which may or may not have a dachshund part in it). However, I'm guessing LEGO would just postpone releases and not just 'not release' them (but just push the schedule back).

Anyone got an idea what the giant Avengers logo is printed on in the new 4+ Avenger Tower set? It has to be something new like an oval tile I think unless I am just looking at it wrong. The picture is too low-res to be sure.

it's one of the oval tile pieces from the disney princess storybooks, 6x8 studs I believe...
