The new Speed Champions Mini has something new for the wheel arches I believe. It looks similar to a black sausage but curved too much to be that. Also the car is 5-wide!
Between that and the Unikitty part, could we be entering the era of the 5 stud brick?

Too bad this isn’t two parts that are only printed on one side. I could see some folks drooling over this part if it was plain.
Just use the Rod of Q-Tip and the Polish Remöver of Na-íl to get the print off and it’s perfect!

I think it is two parts each only printed on one side? The set seems to come with three distinct face bricks.

As for if we'll ever get a completely unprinted one... hard to say. Sizewise, there's little this part offers that an assembly of smaller bricks doesn't, besides the large printable area. But I suppose I could see this appearing unprinted in a theme like Juniors, or in a set where it is meant to be stickered.

Pardon me, if this is a weird question, but where does everybody get the official pictures that you're zooming in on?

Oh, I see. I just looked at the Brickset entry for #70827 and it does seem to have three face bricks printed on one side. When I saw the cropped image I assumed it was two sides of one brick.

At least we know they have the mold and could make it in any color they want.

Looking closer at #70834 Metalbeard Trike it looks like the gold bar piece is now in gunmetal? A great color for that engine detailing and could be great for mocs.

Pearl Dark Grey (aka Titanium Metallic)?!? Nice catch, I'll need at least 40 of them for my MOC parts supplies, here's hoping they'll end up available on B&P sometime in the near future.

Forget the bird—how about that 3x3x2 Elves-style curved fence? As an Elves fan I'm super excited about that part!
If only we were getting new Elves sets along with it. So far I am not seeing anything coming in 2019 my girls are going to have much interest in.

So long as it comes in black at some stage I'll be happy too!

If I remember correctly, I’ve seen a leaked picture of a light bluish grey version of that same bird.

    Don't think so @wardm
Looks like Vicky's hair from #41338 to me. But it could be new!

Incidentally I love that we are getting some minidolls with attitude these days. Vicky (above) and Dottie from #41349 are just awesome.

Someone a while back mentioned there possibly being a new part forming the base arches of the Eiffel Tower, but is it just a printed #62360?
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
^Yeah I believe its just a printed windscreen.

On another note, one of my kids noticed one of the LM2 plant characters has a lavender crab recolor in its makeup which is kinda cool.

New part appearing in some of the sets like #41366 that include the new gear plates. It's the same style snap as https://brickset.com/parts/design-61485 but in a 2x2 size, so that it's compatible with the 4x4 gear plates.

So the Apocalypseburg has a bunch of interesting recolors. More sand green than I can keep track of but the sausages and angled walls in SG are standouts for sure. I am excited for the container wall panel in sand blue as that is a great color for that part. The pitchfork is new in lbgrey I think? That could be quite useful in mocs. What else can you guys see?

Am I correct from my observations that the space helmets in the #70184 Benny's Space Squad other than Benny's helmet are new molds? Even if the chin straps aren't any thicker than the original Classic Space helmets, the recessed round area at the top of the helmet would make them new molds.

Looks like it, not surprising as I'm sure the old molds were long gone.

I would have expected Lego to improve the helmet design a bit by making the chin straps thicker if possible.
  • PaperballparkPaperballpark Member Posts: 4,270
Their material control will have improved many times over since the early 80s, so they probably felt they could make it strong enough without needing to make it thicker.

I'd have thought they'd reuse the mold from the reissue figs, eg. #5002812-1 from 2014.

I'm really glad that they didn't use the helmet that was designed for the visor.  I really dislike the look of those re-issued figures.  Now that they have the mold, I really hope that they give us red, black, and blue versions of it as well.  (It would be nice to have a "new" version of Benny!)

Besides the recessed area on top, which matches Benny's "broken" helmet, the rear sides of the face openings look to have a continuous curve, rather than straight edges with rounded corners, also matching Benny's helmet.
Also, on the new helmets, the bottom of the face openings appear to be lower, creating a small gap, so that depending on the view, one can see the underside curves of the head.

To me, it looks like the new helmets overall are clearly thicker (especially when compared against a classic thin chinstrap helmet, part# 193a2), plus I think that the new helmets' chinstraps do seem to bulge out slightly, beyond than the new helmet's normal thickness.
Here's a zoomed screenshot from just2good's review of #70841, comparing a new minifig with its vintage counterpart (which has a "thick" chinstrap helmet that is lacking side dimples - part# 193b1).

While we're on helmets, I'd like a European style to modernize the fire service and since I'm wishing for things, an old fashioned one to add to the growing list of old style appliances Lego have put out.

I did find this custom one but the purist in me won't allow it.

You can also order a teal brick separator. I am resisting the temptation though as I will no doubt end up with a ton in the next few years.

Got a second in yesterday too after missing a few parts. Still a few that have gone OOS which I know they had stock of before.

The husky dog is getting a dark orange/brown recolor in the new Jurassic sets. Probably some other notables I missed but that one jumped out at me.

here's a couple more interesting pieces.  Apparently a train track transition to flat so you can drive your train off track?  Also looks like a couple of new water elements.
