[USA] 10212 Star Wars Imperial Shuttle - Amazon Lightning Deal Nov25

edited November 2011 in Shopping USA/Canada
I notice Amazon has the 10212 Star Wars Imperial Shuttle as a Lightning Deal today at 5pm EST. Some of the other LEGO Lightning deals today have been 40% and even 50% off. Is anyone else thinking about getting one of these?

Anyone who has one that would recommend it? At what price?

Hmm, only 24% off. Not sure its a good enough deal.

Blah, that isn't good enough... Shame, I would have bought it for 40% off, but 24% off? Naa... That can be had with BOGO50%, why jump for it now?

I am not sure TRU.com let you do BOGO on such an expensive set. They usually limit the quantity to 1 per order when the price is over $100. Of course, if you can find two of them in a B&M, then it can be done.

It's been part of BOGO 50% off previously at Toys R Us. You just need to wait for when the promotion doesn't exclude star wars, hope it's in stock when the promotion starts, and stays in stock by the time you go to check out :P

But to answer LegoFanTexas's question, a pretty obvious reason why you wouldn't wait for BOGO50 is because currently you're not obligated to pair it with a second $260+ set, and also Amazon does not collect state sales tax.

With that said, I didn't jump on the deal, and it would probably take a 30% or greater discount to pick up my third copy.

Items sold by Amazon.com LLC, or its subsidiaries, and shipped to destinations in the states of Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, or Washington are subject to tax.

    :(

Pulled the trigger on this deal. I don't have the set, and it's received rave reviews. At $198 with free shipping and no taxes, that's about as good a deal as I could ever get at TRU in a state with 10% sales tax. Now to figure out how to break the news to the wife without having to eat legos for a week.

As I suspected earlier, TRU lets you buy only one set of 10212 with the current SW BOGO deal. That makes buying this set at a significant discount impossible because everything else in its price range is out of stock.

Looking at the prices of what is in stock, what is the point of this?

Nothing there is worth buying, Amazon sells it all for about 25% less or better than their "list prices".

    What am I missing?
