    The planets have aligned today for anyone who uses Rakuten!  They are given 15% cash back on non-exclusives, paired with double VIP, 2 gwps, and if you’re a Chase card holder you can get an extra 5% back this quarter on purchases through PayPal. I just pulled the trigger on the star destroyer, I doubt this happens again anytime soon during double VIP.

    25% back is insane, that's like TRU BOGO days.  It's probably a better time to buy right now than it will be at Black Friday.

    Agreed!  Thinking about cashing in some stocks and savings and going hog wild!  When you stack it up with some of the things that are on sale, like the Barcelona set it’s even sweeter.

    I only see 10% back on non-exclusives (1.5% for exclusives) for Rakuten. Seems the 15% is a bit YMMV but 10% is still good.  Picked up Optimus Prime finally with the 20% sale.

    How do we know what's an "exclusive" for Rakuten's purposes? I need to get the ISD, and 15% and Double VIP is probably impossible to beat.

    There is a link on the front page of the [email protected] website under a 2x4 brick titled "Exclusives" or you can click the SHOP link at the top left to bring down a list with "Exclusives" there as well.
    On a side note, both GWPs appear to be gone with the castaway listing removed from the site.  It was popping in and out for a bit for me.

    The star destroyer is not currently listed as an exclusive.  I did the same thing and pulled the trigger on it with this deal.

    Thanks! I'll try to remember that for the future. I was hoping I could get the GWP in addition. I already have a Ray Castaway coming in an earlier order, but it's worth having a 2nd for trade.

    I was going to wait for VIP weekend or Black Friday for the ISD, but 15% cash back is worth more on this set than the GWP will be. Had to pull the trigger. Unfortunately it does mean I'll be over my annual Lego budget when I end up placing more orders to get the holiday GWPs... :(

    For anyone interested in those, they're cheaper at Walmart but have been coming in and out of stock.  #80108 was $60 and #80109 was $80.

    Still 10% cash back through Rakuten for anyone who missed out yesterday.  Minus 5% and one GWP, but still a solid buying opportunity at 10% cash back, double VIP, 1 GWP (spooky pack), and the extra 5% cash back for Chase Card holders when buying through PayPal.

    Not sure as I do not think I got this when ordering a #80109 CNY Ice festival and #80108 Lunar new year tradition, but showed up when I did a PaB order and again when adding another CNY Rink in my cart just now. So not sure what the rhyme or reason is or if its just a browser issue, as I see it in my cart now.

    Guess I'll have to try a PAB order.  I've tried with several large sets including the friends one that's on sale and the SW Cantina with no luck so far.

    Well they weren't adding the Spooky Promo from like Oct. 4th - 9th and then on Monday it just appeared again out of nowhere.  It's a $50 spend to get it.  Pretty sure their promo stock management is inconsistent and promos will disappear when they run low and reappear when they realize they have a lot more than they thought.  Maybe they produce some promos so fast, they can't accurately determine how many they have?

    I was removing and re-adding #80108 to my cart throughout the morning and afternoon yesterday and the promo kept showing in my cart up until I placed my order around 4PM PT, so I wonder what happened for madforLEGO.  It's also still showing up for me at this moment.

    Yeah, it did not show when I put in one order, then again when I put in another... weird

    Rakuten is back down to a meager 2.5% cash back on purchases.  Kinda regretting I didn't buy more while the 15% and 10% was going on, but after the ISD and Barcelona stadium I was pretty tapped out on funds!

    When I ordered my 90th Anniversary Castle this past Monday for the double VIP points, Ray the Castaway was the only promo that showed up in my cart when I purchased it.
    Today, I got the shipping notice and the Spooky add-on was there as well.  Nice surprise!

    I got a PAB order that included the Pirate pack a couple of weeks ago.  I  didn't recall it being added to the order when I placed it so nice surprise.  I'm hoping the Castle stays in stock for the Black Friday promos because none of the recent GWP'S were enticing enough to get me to buy it since I already had two of the Ray promos coming.

    I tried on the 1rst day of 2x VIP points and nothing was added....after adding $200+ to my cart.  Then on the 12th I lowered my cart and still nothing.  I noticed today that my cart had an 'extra' item..which was the Spooky add-on.  But I've also noticed my cart has to have over $100 in it to be included....even thought Lego says it's a $50 threshold.  I drop to $95...no bonus....$115....bonus.

    The 15% cash back on Rakuten worked like a charm!  I wasn't too worried, but I definitely wasn't 100% sure how the exclusives would work.  Anyway, here's how it all broke down with the 2 purchases I made on the double VIP and 15% Rakuten day:

    Purchased:

    ISD for $699
    Barcelona Stadium for $209

    Total:  $982.78 (after shitty NY taxes)

    Rakuten cash back:  $136.50
    VIP points:  11,830 or $91
    Chase cash back (5% on purchases through PayPal):  $45.40

    2 times Castaway GWP
    2 times Spooky VIP pack GWP

    That's nearly 30% off, granted some of it only redeemable for future Lego purchases, but still pretty damn good to get that kind of discount on almost everything Lego sells!  Hope you guys were able to cash in on this too, and I'll do my best to keep an eye open for the next time Rakuten is up around 15% cash back.  It would be nice if it starts regularly syncing up with Double VIP points.  Maybe Black Friday?

    Anyone else still waiting for their 2x VIP points purchases?  I purchased on the 15th and still haven't received an email.   I didn't even purchase anything major...a few Brickheadz and Santa Sleigh.  The only 'backorder' was a Postcard(until Jan).  Lego shows I've ordered but still being processed.

    All mine have showed up, but I think all my purchases were a few days before the 15th.  It did take awhile for the points to post on both sets of orders.

    I ordered a few things on the 3rd. One was backordered until January. It just arrived today, so pretty thrilled I won't have to wait another two months. From what I've seen, however, the amount of orders around the VIP event were pretty significant. Hopefully it doesn't take much longer.

    Rakuten back up to 10%.  It's good to see Lego be one of the merchants now regularly participating in the higher cash back promotions the site does.  For the longest time 2.5% was the highest Lego ever went.

    Ugh wish I could have held off on that huge BnP order I just put in... Oh well. .
    On another note, I cannot believe the Grocery store and Farmer' market van are both retiring already! I guess they felt that it was not exciting enough and they need to do similar sets but with people trying to rob them with a cop running up to help.

    Same. I ordered the ISD on 10/10 when it was Double VIP and Rakuten was 15% back. ISD isn't an exclusive, so that shouldn't be a problem. Order went through, shows all the normal info on Rakuten's tracking, so they logged it correctly. Waited until after 10/24 when it said pending until then. Filled out the missing rewards form. Customer service says they're looking into and had to get verification of the order from Lego. Been a week now. No update.

    For all you guys having trouble with the cash back, keep on the customer support.  I've had issues in the past where cash back hasn't shown up, but it's always been resolved with me getting the correct amount of cash back usually in a timely manner.  Sorry you guys are having trouble!

    @autolycus @monstblitz I filled out the missing cashback forms 10/21, 11 days after the order, they say it may take up to 45 days, so I think by 11/25 it doesn't show up I will fill out another form.  It's been like this for the past 4 months, but I have eventually gotten it.

    I've said it before but I always have to fill out the missing cashback form when I use Rakuten for Lego.  Sometimes they give it to me immediately after I submit the request but other times they tell me they need to investigate further.  It's gotten to the point where may times I don't even bother to shop through Rakuten for Lego.  I always get a confirmation e-mail from them that I completed my shopping trip and the money will be in my account within x number of days but then nothing gets added to my account.

    After hearing of other's Rakuten issues, I logged into my account and am missing the $30 from using a referral link as well as about $25 from a LEGO purchase mid October.  Seems the company is a bit shady if they are not holding to their promises, but I've also filled out a "missing rewards" form so will see what comes of it.

    @canon03 I don't think it is a Rakuten problem as I routinely receive pretty much every other cashback without issue for all my other purchases through them.  It seems to be a problem with Lego not verifying purchases to Rakuten until someone complains.  Rakuten has always credited me the cashback after I've filled out the forms.

    @monstblitz It was and after they/Rakuten gave me credit for the purchase, they also awarded me the $$ for using the referral, so hopefully you see a bit of that in your account now as well. Thanks!

    I got a Lasership delivery the other day.  I was dreading the condition that it would arrive in because there were multiple items of varying sizes in the order.  To my complete surprise, the package arrived in perfect condition with not even a dent in the box.  The contents were also in mint condition.

    Must have been someone's first day at Lasership that didn't get the memo that you should physically be sitting on the boxes when you drive around to deliver them.

    Lego VIP program is letting you redeem 100 points for $x off certain sets. $100 of the Harry Potter train or $80 off the Rollercoaster. Plus others

    I noticed that Paypal has a "5% back" for their rewards program thing for Lego online order (that you have to activate, expires 3 days). And the Chase Freedom credit card gives 5% back when you pay via Paypal (expires Dec). So that's decent cash-back if those options are available to you.
