I am screwed,  last year they had plenty of left over of the Halloween Seasonal set,  but this year,  all gone!  OMG

The Lego Store closest to me is out too, but the next closest one told me they'd be getting more in.  It might be worthwhile to call the stores in your area to see if they're restocking.

already called a few stores near me,  but so far no shipment for the last two weeks

@bsiu922 They don't have to be close by if you're willing to pay for shipping. I don't know how much time you want to spend calling around though.

I was going to use some of my points to buy that little halloween set since they all expire at the end of november, but then I never was too motivated.   Heck, we didn't even take out the Haunted House this year, so the gate would have just been lonely anyway.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but the actual Lego stores have some deals not on the [email protected] site. Temple of Aurjitsu is $50 off, as is Assault on Hoth.  The former is retired and unavailable on the site. Looks like a pretty cool set.
I should note that this was my local Lego Store. I assume deals would be the same across the footprint, but not sure.

Interesting. If I didn’t have basically every component of the Assault on Hoth set already I would consider this.

maybe I will get #21312 after all when it's back in stock - would make sense to get 2 if I can. usually they don't mind additional orders for more, but I think they would with this set.
Another $49.02 would be enough for a $99 promo (#40253 until the 15th, #40254 18th-19th or 24th-27th). I put that stuff in my cart now so I can move ASAP if I see 21312 back in stock.

Question: If an item in my order is backordered & then cancelled, taking the order total below the promo threshold, will I still receive the promo item? My order has not shipped yet but still shows the Nutcracker in the list of items as "in warehouse."

I would call CS and confirm, and even if they say it won’t you could probably get them to throw it in.

Many items in Sales and Deals are 30% off instead of the usual 20%. I already spent a lot at WalMart, and it isn't 2x VIP right now, so this might be a good time to use my points.

No double points so it would be a good time to use points. It is never good to use points during a double points event if you do not have to.

Yes. In fact when your order is backordered, LEGO will send the free promo by itself. It doesn’t wait for the backorderes item to come in stock.

Is that still true if the item is cancelled?

I had my promos cancelled because my order was back ordered.  I was very annoyed because the promo was the only reason I placed the order.

Did you call CS and find that out? I'm surprised they did not provide one anyway.
  • ReesesPiecesReesesPieces Member Posts: 1,115
I did...it was listed as in warehouse for a while.  but when I realized I did not receive it, they just told me it is to first available and they do not always hold it for back ordered items.
  • MegtheCatMegtheCat Member Posts: 500
The Nutcracker promo is listed as shipped with my order, even though technically I didn't meet the $99 once they cancelled the backordered Iron Man Brickheadz. This particular order has been an adventure since I had to fight error messages to place it, then had Lego cancel it. Thanks to a call to CS it was restored, but by that time the one item was backordered. Later I saw backordered had been changed to cancelled, while the rest of the items were In Warehouse. Now it's shipped, so in a couple of days I'll know for sure.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the Nutcracker promo gets extended beyond tomorrow, as long as supplies last.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,332
#40161 at $19.97 is a good deal even without promos, and the limit of 5 is just enough for #40254 - I placed that order using $55 in points

In today's mail I received a flyer for a free Gingerbread Man Minifigure with a purchase of $10 or more. "Must present this offer at a Lego Store by December 23rd to qualify." It's the same one they gave away last year in the little cardboard house, but I need another one!

Based on my records, that is the price #40223 rings for when it was given as a promo ($9.99 followed by -$9.99 on the in-store receipt).

For the curious, the 2015-2017 holiday promos all came up $9.99 except for the Christmas Build-Up 24-in-1 sets which were $19.99.

Sets a precedent for some people: why pay $50 or $75 to get the promo when they may sell it at a later date for a more affordable price?

Of course, BL and eBay gave you those options to acquire them sans minimum purchase at Lego, but if it's coming from the company themselves...I may have to pass on those promos more often.

I bought a snow globe from my local LEGO store at some point during the year, they had a bunch leftover and offered them to people they thought would be interested.

Not sure what to make of this. I just sold my extra snowglobe from last year for $25.

Got that today myself. Just when I thought I was done buying LEGO for the year after Black Friday week...maybe I'll be going to Eastview Mall sometime during double VIP weekend (8th-10th)

I recall them selling the VW Camper Poly for $5 each if you called them, a couple years ago.

Usually they get rid of old promos by using them as promos again. Maybe they sell them below market value to back up the approximate retail value in the fine print of the calendar and be in line with price of similarly sized sets.
I see the value of a promo as a sort of discount, needed to compete with TLG not using as many or as large straight-up discounts.

Got my order with Nutcracker today, that box was in surprisingly good condition, considering some [email protected] horror stories
  • PapaBearPapaBear Member Posts: 631
They probably were left with too many Christmas promos for the last two seasons.  Being left with too many Nutcrackers means they should try to get rid of the Snow Globes which is why they decided to retail them.

My [email protected] order had a sheet of Lego-themed gift tags included.

Poor Fed-Ex driver delivered at 8:30 P.M. and scans had it on the truck since 7:30 A.M.! Holiday shipping must be in full swing.

You also roll the dice that the promo is not available for sale after its end. At this point, I think the Snowglobe is more an exception than a rule.

Reading this "This isn’t a bad thing, unless you’re a reseller..." made me think if Lego is going after Lego resellers in general with mass availability of such store promos following the re-release of the MF and Taj.  I know that Lego store promos have been mass released before but this one had a $50 purchase cap.  Others are usually ones that were given away with a $25-35 limit.
