#70751 Temple of Airjitsu is $159 (from $199)
After seeing pictures of this for $99 at Legoland stores, I am unimpressed with this price.

I really want #70751, would be a great addition as an 'Oriental Corner' to any town.
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 1,016
That would be fun. I have considered that set, but I have too many other items ahead of it and I don't want to swing $200 on it. It was $150 for the B&N sale, but it was sold out by the time I got to it, but I still wouldn't have had the money for that much. Oh well.

I missed out on Batgirl and Robin posters :(. Luckily I was able to get the first two though.

If you can, check with your Lego store. They may have extras and it won't hurt to ask for one.

the week I went was Batgirl. The associate threw in a Batman poster.

If I  purchased a set from S@H and it arrived beat up (which I'm assuming ALL S@H orders come that way, I've never had a box NOT beaten somehow), can I replace it with a better one when I visit an actual brick and mortar store??

I purchased the new Volkswagen beetle and they threw it in a box that was too small, so they angled in the box, put a smaller box under it and then put 6 keychains and polybags on top of the Volkswagen box.  So the box got a little sandwiched and the keychains made pitting holes in the front of the box...like so kid took his BB gun and shot at it...or maybe the keychains came to life and danced on the box.

Be sure to complete the packaging for survey which, I believe is on the Brickset page.

Also make note of the crappy tape they use as 'seals' for the boxes and how inadequate it is to keep boxes sealed from the hands of thieves as well.

On a separate note, I caved in and bought a few of the Doc Strange sets since the Batman Poly is still around and the Doc Strange set seems not long for production.

    41233, 2 40165, 2 40153, 5 40156 - I ordered the maximums before; let's see if I can get more. 40206 is a good deal, but not as good,and I didn't need it to reach the promo threshhold.

Yes I can, just received this order.
I placed 5 February orders; the 4th is still in transit and does not include any such sets, but does include another of each promo.
The March promos aren't great and I already got all the sets I wanted. I'll see if I can get more 40156 and 40165 and/or TLG adds more to sales and deals. The other sets on sale earlier are out of stock or back to full price.

@grounded thanks for letting me know that the April calendar is up. It's B*e*etle as in the VW car.

    Just ordered 5 40156 and 2 40165 in case they'll let me get more 30351 doesn't hurt but isn't a big draw.

I knew Beatle didn't look right, so yes. Mini VW automobile, not ancient insect.

I was a bit shocked to see Disney CMF still around at clearance prices ($3.19) and the Valentine's Day vignette at 4.99.

The Valentine set is out of stock, and the Disney CMF have been out of stock too for months now. Why do they keep them on the website, does anybody know? Does that mean they intend to restock them at some point in the future?

I think it is because they are still in their system in case a store still has them in stock. So they are sold out online, but a store could still have them in stock, so they have to sit in the system.

I got 4 before they went back to full price. groovy parts. I built 1 wedding set, gave away another, and parted out a few more. I have 2 more incoming and might hold onto them for gifts.

Old sets will come up in a search as retired product. Disney CMF still says out of stock (sale price is still mentioned like a lot of out-of-stock items). Maybe they'll be kept around at least to be sold alongside other Disney merch.

I bought the Assembly Square. Double VIP means almost $30 in rewards to use on another set.

I need a little bit more of a discount or premium promo to get Assembly Square. I'll probably wait for whatever super Xmas promo they offer for BF weekend. That's typically the highest valued promo of a given year.

I missed that it started on the 6th not the 1st - d'oh! the order that I placed on the 3rd was still a good deal. I was able to get more of the sales and deals items I already ordered. I'll see if I can get more tomorrow.

buying modulars with 2x VIP (basically 10% off) makes sense, as those sets are unlikely to be on sale elsewhere. (However, I got a slightly better deal on a Brick Bank with a damaged box).
Other sets might go on sale elsewhere for at least 20% eventually. (However, I got several from S@H to have enough for the February promos)
Promos that require a specific kind of item make a cheap item of that type a very good deal.

Now that the ban on discounts for exclusives is lifted in the US, I expect to get most of the big sets for at least 10-20% discount at some point in their lifecycle. See petshop, mixer, ewok village and sandcrawler as recent examples.

I know there were some discounts towards the end of last year from various retailers- but is it confirmed that the entire ban is now lifted?

I will celebrate the ban 'being lifted' when you see these dropping in the middle of the summer for no good reason on sites like Amazon.
I would not expect that exclusives will always be found for a discount; these were reduced to move their stock as they were EOL. I doubt that LEGO wants to have to discount these, contrary to what occurred this past fall. I'm guessing they will either start making less of a set (ending production earlier), or start charging the retailers more to have the exclusives (thereby stopping a retailer from dropping the price too much).
So people can assume that LEGO, or someone else, will drop these prices before they are sold out, or to move their remaining stock, but I would not bet on it, specifically if I want at least one of the set.

  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Sure. Buy it when it's at an attractive price for you.  I'm not biting though. The market is saturated and there are only do many $300+ sets people will buy. We are outliers in owning multiple very expensive sets. I am confident in my ability to get the sets I want at the discount I want so I will be patient.

I remember seeing multiple comments from people that at least appeared to be in the know that the ban had a finite time limit. I'd say going from zero discounts to multiple heavy discounts in the last year is evidence enough for me.

Sure, I get it, people will wait because they can afford too, especially if they have only a mild interest in a specific set. However, I'm trying to remind those that may not be 'in the know' to not make an assumption that these will be discounted during their run, as there is no guarantee of that. Could exclusives be discounted during their run? Yes, but I would say if you really want that set, then get it. Waiting for a discount that may never appear may have those longing for a set and then lamenting that they will have to pay dearly for said set if they did not get it during its production run. I think one reason why Town Hall skyrocketed after its unexpected production end was that folks were waiting for a discount that never came and it increased the demand.

I have to wonder if LEGO decides to cut production on sets like the Palace Cinema earlier than when they stopped the Pet Shop last year, so as to not have to discount them to deplete the rest of a stock of them.
  • DedgeckoDedgecko Member Posts: 798
I didn't see Palace Cinema at the Bellevue, WA store the last couple of trips (most recently Monday), so if people are still interested in it, it may be quietly and rapidly approaching EOL.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
With the exception of Brick Bank, the sets I've bought or want aren't in that price range.
On the 8th, ordered another 5 40156 and 2 40165. Had enough of a PayPal balance. (last summer, when I used a mix of balance and debit card, my card treated it as a foreign transaction; it's a moot point whether TLG fixed that.
On the 9th received the 1st order like that and placed the 3rd.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
Not a discount, but I thought this was pretty funny. Pencil Pot is on backorder - ships Aug 7 2017. Gotta be the longest backorder availability I've ever seen.

I still have a glimmer of hope of a Spring sale coming around soon like we have had the last few years or so. At least I think we have, I remember getting the Heavy Haul Train for -20% last year.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
My last two 30351/5 40156/2 40165 orders arrived today. I'm saving budget for 2x VIP and DUPLO promo on the 16th. Waiting a bit might cause fewer issues with the order limit on 40156/40165. I might have to order right after midnight in case cheap DUPLO goes out of stock. There's $4.99 DUPLO this year, like #10852 bird to go with the fish. I've thought about #10815 rocket before. #10831 caterpillar would go with #10615 tractor and #10819 garden I got a toddler cousin last year. #10832 Birthday Picnic has 3 minifigs and an animal for $14.99

  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
Apparently they're still giving away 30351. 10852 on one order, 10831 on another for 2 #30323. one cousin gets the fish and bird, one gets the caterpillar (2nd fish to someone else) - makes sense to give similar value gifts. trying to order more 40156/40165
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
5 more orders of a small DUPLO set and some 40156 / 40165 to reach $35. Also got a keychain to test removing the chain with a candle flame, and another upscaled mug. I think that since they're still on sales and deals, TLG won't mind getting rid of a few more of them.
Placed one order on my lunch break, the other 4 after 11, some very close to midnight

Three of the DC Superhero Girls sets are already down 20% - #41231, #41232 and #41233. That tells me they might soon be available even cheaper elsewhere.
#40161 at $23.99 - not quite worth it at $29.99, I got a few when they were $24.99, so I'm very happy to see it back on sale again.
Many of the same items still listed in Sales and Deals weeks or months later
Will see what's still there in April
#40156 is Friends branded; will it count towards the animal figurine tic tac toe promo?
I'm planning to go to the LEGO Store soon and if I don't see any special sales there I'm thinking #41301 Puppy Parade, #41307 Olivia's Creative Lab and 2 large PaB cups

#40156 Butterfly Organizer is finally out of stock, maybe other people had the same idea I did aobut buying it for the tic tac toe promo, maybe I should have checked just after midnight. Not much Friends I want to buy at MSRP even with a good promo. #41301 was for a dog figurine I didn't have yet, also the case with #41300, #41302 and #41303.
#40153 Birthday Table Decoration is back and at $4.99
I'm going to the LEGO Store later today and I'll see what I get there first.

I think LEGO massively miscalculated on the popularity of a Mini-doll super hero line. I like the premise only because you can have them interact with the Friends line, but not sure how many kids are doing that.

The #30546 Krypto Saves The Day promo ran longer than expected. I figured that's because TLG had plenty of the polybag left, but maybe because they had trouble moving the DC Superhero Girls sets. Personally, I like minidolls but am not much for superheroes - others might feel the same or the other way around.

LEGO Store had 8 wedding, 5 What Am I?, 5 birthday, including what the employees got from the back. They were also out of butterfly organizer. I didn't count on it when planning my purchase, but I'm not complaining. Also, the manager let me get multiple promos with a big enough purchase, but only 2 of each.

Updated the BrickBuildr PaB wall page for Eastview - http://www.brickbuildr.com/index.php/view-store/?store=94
I took pictures, but it was more of a pain than I thought matching them to the correct part of the wall, and identifying some parts. Also, I missed the couple columns on the right because someone was standing there at the time and I forgot to take a picture once they left. Maybe a grid to write in would be easier after all.

Some parts on the wall weren't listed, let's see if the site operator sees my email.

Bin 6,6 has Bright Light Orange 1x1 Plate Modified with Tooth Horizontal (part 49668)
Bin 8,4 has Dark Bluish Gray 1x2 Plate Modified with Towball on Side (part 14417)
Bin 8,5 has Light Bluish Gray 2x2 Turntable Top [part 3679] and Bin 9,5 has the white base [part 3680]
Bin 9,6 has white round 1x1 tiles with an eye pattern (98138pb007)
Bin 12,4 has white 2x1 curved slope [11477]
    11,5 has a 1x2-2x4 inverted bracket in white [99207]
A bin near the right edge, perhaps 11,5, has sand green brick 1x1 with 2 studs on opposite sides [47905]

Sometimes I changed them to something similar, sometimes I left the previous entry.
If a part was still the same I didn't bother, enough of a pain to edit the wall as is.

Placing an order on the website after all.
#41307 is on backorder and I don't feel like waiting for it.
Mom often likes small LEGO sets to use as gifts; she'll take #41302 #41303 #41304.
#41305 has the best part value amongst small Friends sets.
#41233 and 3 $4.99 sale items gets me just over $50.

Stumbled across a slightly damaged box Silent Mary with a 1000 bonus VIP points at the Tyson Lego store on 3/31.  Got greedy and waited to score the free mini beetle with it and lost out.  Oh well.  I didn't need it that bad, and I'm sure I'll have another crack at it.

So many Friends sets are on backorder; I don't want to wait and I wonder if it would be more of a problem with multiple copies of promos.
#41133 is the only good deal I see on what's in stock, since it's otherwise a Target exclusive and not on sale there like other Amusement Park sets. I'll think about it.
Thought about another #40161, but it's back at full price
