Well that was fast.  2 minutes into the sale and the whole site is locked up.    Fail.

Gotta love S@H - every sale is very frustrating! This time, I could see the items in my cart, but couldn't checkout.

^Still having the same problem, six hours later.

I am starting to believe this is deliberate. Hard to explain how a company this size is taking years to sort its website despite numerous cosmetic upgrades.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
^I was just thinking that. Maybe as a way to even the playing field. Maybe it'll randomly "fix itself" say around 10am est (same time the brand store opens). However, I do believe in the Occam's Razor philosophy of all things being equal the simplest explanation tends to be the right one. So ... back to the reality of just a crappy website.

Made 2 orders last night around 12:30. Multiple times the site kicked me back to the homepage, but I did eventually get the orders in. Couldnt pass up the exclusive Avengers Hydra set.

You're more dedicated than I. At 1220 I cashed it in for the night. Of course, then I woke up at 5 and ran to the computer.
  • lordzaraklordzarak Member Posts: 329
Actually, I went to bed at 10:30, and happened to wake up around 12:20, right before the site started working again. So just lucky with timing.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,838
I was on LEGOs site at 12:30 EDT last night and had one issue with it returning me to the main page. I cleared out my browser cache and LEGO related cookies and had no further issues.

I highly doubt these things are deliberate. Many sites have similar issues. American Girl has the same garbage every Cyber Monday. It is that these sites are only pounded at this time of year, and companies do not bother putting in the infrastructure to handle this for just 1-2 days of the year.

From reading some of the other threads on the forum, it sounds like Target and Walmart both had the same sorts of trouble with their websites this Black Friday. I'm not sure I've heard of that before--probably has to do with the rising amount of online shopping in general and the incredible hassle of going to the mall. Lego fans (especially ones that patronize a website like BrickSet) are probably just ahead of the curve.

I think @tamamahm is right.  There's a lot of traffic on certain days and it's foolish to invest in infrastructure that will only benefit a few days.  Lots of companies have similar problems.  Fedex has had problems with Christmas for a while now.  Lego could probably revamp their whole computer network for a lot of $$$, but it would all most likely get outdated within a year's time.  It's most likely a balancing act of deciding when to fully upgrade a system and when to just make minor improvements that get them by for another year.  Cheaper is always better.  Some day though, some day.....
  • 3stackshs3stackshs Member Posts: 299
Walmart's Website was horrible last year.  I couldnt order for 2 days, and when it finally worked it was only if I had 3 or 4 items in my cart, anymore and it wouldnt checkout
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
^On the plus side though, you still weren't at a Wal-Mart store.

Last year? Right before the research Institute came out,  they "revamped" something Web related (and CS related)  and it has still been a boondoggle.  Hasn't gotten any better on premium sales,  which of course are getting less and less.

The new frozen sets are up at S@H, and you can get the ginger bread house with another $10-11 set.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Doctor Who is up also.  :-) :-)

Not sure if its been mentioned, don't take much notice of the US sales threads understandably, but all dimensions sets are reduced in US/CAN S@H

S@H currently has 70801 for 50% at only $6.48. There is a limit of 5, but it has some interesting pieces, namely the trans-clear pulley. Unfortunately, you still need $75 to get free shipping. Pick up a Doctor Who while your there and you have it made!

Just saw a Scooby Doo collection (#75900, #75902 and #75904) for 107.97 ($27 off) in the Sales and Deals section

S@H now has LEGO Dimensions fun packs on sale for 50% off.
  • cloaked7cloaked7 Member Posts: 1,448
Best Buy has them 50% off too.

Just checking but how fast does S@H ship from order?
I'm going to be on vacation in Orlando in May for 3 Weeks (visiting from Scotland) and considered getting some sets delivered to the villa we are staying in for the second and third week. (Mainly the nice and cheap Dimensions Fun Packs if they are still 50% off). But if they take more than 2 weeks to deliver I can't risk it.
  • Bricklover18Bricklover18 Member Posts: 722
Usually mine are delivered within five days
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
If you are in Orlando, you could stop at the LEGO store in Downtown Disney or go to Legoland.
No sure how long the 50% Fun Pack is going to be, but they are also available at local stores like GameStop, you can price match them at stores like Target or also order them from Amazon to be delivered at your villa (shipping time are given and usually accurate on Amazon)

Eastview Mall LEGO store had #40201 Valentines Cupid Dog for $7.98 instead of $9.99, and they had the Pirates chess set. The website also has those.

I got the dog. The chess set seems like a good deal for what it is, but I'm MOCing a simpler one.

Beside the Dimensions Fun Packs, there are police and fire accessory sets for $7.48 - 4 minis and some parts. #40110 Coin Bank for $7.48 is still up.

As long as the item is in stock and there are no payment issues, they usually ship within a couple of days and end up at their location within 3-5 business days.  Play it safe and order a day or two before you get to the villa.

I was able to pick up #10672 for $15 over the weekend at the Schaumburg, IL Lego store.  It was the last one on the shelf, maybe other stores might have them on sale too?
  • thedingman5thedingman5 Member Posts: 292
Some new sale items tonight (#31045, #60098, #21050, #60096, #41109, #60076, #21302) among others.  All seem to be 20% off.

TRU appears to have these sets on sale as well. Is S@H price matching TRU or vice versa?
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
I just sprung for a #60098 Heavy Haul Train in spite of the helicopter car. Good deal for $160. Will be interesting to see if S@H starts doing more price matching sales, would certainly push me toward shopping with them more often.

Yeah, decided to get another. I got one at the pre BF sale at the LEGO store for the same price (but got clobbered a bit by their tax code). At 159.99 I think it is pretty good, though makes me wonder now if these will get lower at some point (though likely when LEGO wants to rid themselves of the set)

Ask a Lego Store employee (if you're near a Lego Store), and they have SH cards for Free Shipping. Works best if one say you want something they don't have in stock.

Just saw that.  Good opportunity for anyone struggling to find them at Toys 'R Us.  I finally found where my TRU was hiding them and bough 10.

It's a good deal.  But you have to think Lego is sitting on a ton of Scooby Doo sets.  March is probably a slow toy sale month also.  They're just trying to keep their sale numbers up.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
Well Now I have a Scooby Doo collection. Was doing well resisting ordering but that was too good to pass. That mansion is full of great parts.

Chicken Suit Guy is only this weekend. Was pleasantly surprised to see it added to my cart, then I saw the email. Yeah, lots of good promos right now.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
As for #30321 DUPLO Duck, many of the cheaper DUPLO sets are sold out.
If you place an order during the promotional period and it ships later, do you still get the promotions? I may not want to wait anyway for my regular items.

Thanks for the heads up, saw this before I checked my email this morning...

Yeah, tempted by the Scooby collection now . Also Do not forget LEGO also has the Fun packs on sale still for 50% off as well (including the army builder Cyber man/Dalek 'army builder' Doctor Who pack)- limit 5 but I think that is still enough to get the Kai poly (but not enough for the free shipping).
  • MrJ_NYMrJ_NY Member Posts: 592
Ordered a Friends double-sided Jungle Playmat for my grandkids -$3.48 on sale and got a free chicken suit guy.I wonder if I stick some technic pins in the side of the chicken coop I could connect it to my Modulars
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
    @madforLEGO
You're right. Dimensions fun packs are $7.49. 5 would be $37.45; the Kai poly requires $35 and free shipping requires $75.

I'm not interested in Dimensions. I might get #850618 LEGO City Fire Accessory Pack, also half off, a great deal for 4 minifigures and related parts. Perhaps I'll get #10570 or #10573 for the duck promo, but I wanted #10815 in particular, and that's $9.99 instead of $14.99. I want #41107 and #41135 which add up to $74.98 so I need something small for free shipping.

What is heartbreaking, to me, is that I have the Arctic Icebreaker in my 'saved for later' list (even though it is long gone) and it shows that if it were available it would be $64.98
