my issue with wall-e

i purchased wall-e from TRU in the USA and i have just finished the build and i must say that i love it. my only issue is with part 4522784 on page 80, step 92. the pin fits to loose and is causing the famous head swivel problems. i have looked and did not see if anyone has said if lego is addressing this specific part. the hinge pieces that there has been some discussion about are not a problem in my set.

Everyone is having this exact problem. I phoned Lego and had a talk to them and they offered me a "Fix Kit"

LEGO announced on the LEGO Ideas blog that they were indeed fixing the head swivel problem. Originally they said it will take a few weeks, and in fact the set was pulled from the Online LEGO Shop, but now it is back. So I assume those are now the fixed sets. Call LEGO. They should be sending you a "repair kit". Here is the original announcement: http://ideas.lego.com/blogs/1-blog/post/45

I've complete this modification and it works quite well to stop the head from swiveling freely.

I've also order the repair kit from Lego. I have not received it yet but it does NOT fix the head problem. Lego will send you the following parts:

    2x4211695 (Brick 1x4 Fric/stub/fork vert)

    2x4265484 (Brick 1x2 w/Stub Vertical end

These parts will perhaps fix the loose hinge connection where the neck attaches to the body but will do nothing for the head swivel.

Spoke to CS for S@H recently, who seemed pretty clueless to the head swivel issue & a fix coming for it (she seemed think I was confusing the two issues). I persevered with the inquiry & they spoke to someone else, who was able to clarify that it was OOS due to the same neck issue as with the US release & would back in stock soon, but the head swivel issue would not be fixed by that time. As far as I know the fix for the head swivel issue isn't fixed with the current stock & a possible fix wouldn't be expected before February.

I sent a mail to Lego earlier this week about this issue with WALL-e and last Friday got a call from Lego Netherlands. The man said that the issue indeed was known and that Lego was working on a fix. Everyone (in the Netherlands) would be getting a repair kit when they found a working solution, for free. He did say that it would be at least 2 weeks before a solution would be send.
