What is YOUR favorite set/series EVER?

Ever since the Lego brick was originally patented in 1958, the Lego Group has poured out some pretty fantastic sets and series (and conversely, some arguably terrible sets and series). We've all seen the vast variety of products. But what I want to know is this: what was the best set or series ever made?

For me, my favorite series is the original Bionicle series. My favorite set, however, is 5974 Galactic Enforcer.

Best Series: Classic LEGO Space
Best Set: #6970 Beta I Command Base

The Beta I Command Base had everything you needed. It had a cool spaceship, a great base, plenty of communication devices, a buggy, lots of spacemen, two crater plates *and* a monorail! Perfect.

For me, MODULARS!!!!!!!!
Also cmfs, the Tower Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, the Taj Mahal (that I sadly missed but am currently bricklinking) and other landmarks that are to come.

Edit: Oh, and also everything that has a lot of pieces! :o)

Favourite set is probably the Haunted House. 

Favourite series would have to be Monster Fighters or possibly LOTR.

I nearly went LOTR, but for me the favourite theme is creator. And I'm going with the monkey for the favourite set. Sure there are bigger sets, more detailed sets, but the monkey is great. Fun and fairly organic looking.

It's a bit unpopular to say it this week but my favourite theme is ideas. Where else do you get such variety. Single set is more difficult... Maybe #76023 the tumbler although the build isn't the most fun it certainly is a looker on the shelf.

My favorite build to this day is Tow Truck #8285. The set that brought me out of my Dark Ages was Dueling Dragster #8238 so its important to me. As for favorite theme it would have to be Architecture. I look forward to many more years of these sets!

Favorite Set: Haunted House by a landslide.
Favorite Theme: Probably have to go with Creator 3in1. I try to avoid licensed / minifigure driven / sticker heavy sets. So, 3in1 and the recent Modulars are where its at for me.

Favourite set : Portal of Atlantis. at least until I build tower of orthanc. well, I at least hope tower of orthanc is better for the price it cost.

Favourite theme would have to be Star Wars. Everything always comes back to Star Wars as it has been such a constant pain in my wallet all through my life.

The favourite set I own would have to be the tumbler just because I think it looks wonderful.

Saying that, the build I am most looking forward to doing is my bricklinked version of 10179.

Hobbit/LotR.  Star Wars is my favorite but too many repeats to keep up with so tied with Hobbit. Favorite set is #9526

Favorite Theme:  Creator (WV, Modulars, Trains, Planes and Automobiles)

I have an affinity for the purple box Pirates, the Fire Ninjas, Forestmen and LotR.

And keychains.

Another vote for creator expert being the best theme. Of those, I think the Parisian Restaurant is my favourite set.

If I think back to what I thought was "best" during my childhood, the answer is really "whatever I had". I had space sets because that was what was bought for me at the time but I didn't often play "space" with them.

Favorite themes:
1. Pirates 1989-1992
2. Castle 1988-1995

My favorite set would be Tower of Orthanc... if not for the stickers. Still waiting for that one favorite, I think. From my childhood, this would definitely be 5590: Whirl and Wheel Super Truck.

My favorite set has to be the Green Grocer.  It was the first of the modulars to have such incredible details outside and (for the first time) inside, which set a big standard moving forward.  Plus, it had a BBQ grill, which took it to a whole new level.

As for my favorite line, Creator by a mile.

There are quite a few LEGO X-Wings (I have 3 myself), but #10240 has to be my favourite by a mile.

Monster Fighters! My biggest nightmare is lack of 10228 and 9465 in my collection.

#6080 is my favorite set from a nostalgia standpoint.  It was the one big set I got when I was a kid, and I probably played with it and the minifigures everyday for a couple of years.  Still have it set up at my parents house for my kids and nephew to play with when they are there.  Besides that, I would say the Haunted House and the Death Star.  Favorite overall themes would be Star Wars and Modulars.

In the 70s through the early 80s, my favorites were the space themed sets. Then came a long "dark age", which ended in 2014. 

Prior to last night, my favorite set was the 10188 Death Star. Not only was it a lot of fun building, but it only cost me $56 at a thrift store, with the original boxes and a bunch of spare parts from the 7893 Passenger Plane. And it ended the dark age. 

My favorite set now is 3831 Rocket Ride from the Spongebob Squarepants theme. I haven't even finished finding all the parts, just got most of the rocket assembled, but my grandson spotted it last night and spent a solid hour showing me that it opens up and he can hide all manner of things inside it. He's also a big fan of the 42284/42291 Rocks.

The monster fighters 9465 was overrated I have onever myself and it's not really worth the price

Overall it has to be Star Wars, the system sets are great but really the big ticket sets pit it above all the other themes, the the UC Falcon being my favourite of all.

the creator winter village theme comes a close second for me, love that line.

My favorite theme is Castle, though you wouldn't know it by my collection.

I don't know if I really have a favorite set but if I had to chose I would probably pick #70728 Battle for Ninjago City. It may get knocked out by #70751  Temple of Airjitzu which I'm in the process of building now.

#4559 Cargo Railway has a special place in my heart because it's the first train I ever bought and years after I sold the original one I had, I bought it again.

#6769-1 Fort Legoredo is another of the first sets I had bought about the same time that I bought that train. I wish I still had a complete one but I think I sold pieces of it, although I have the figures and horses.

I have to give a nod to Harry Potter. 
Other themes up there would be Ninjago, any holiday theme lines (Winter Village, Monster Fighter, Scooby) and  Modulars.
I think I also need to include Friends. It really has been a line that has broken the mould and just tried a wide variety of items never seen in Lego before. 

Best set would probably be HH.
