Summer 2016 sets in Brickset database?

I'm also curious about this. Sonic Raider 2.0 plays my heartstrings link a prodigy if it's true (the first was a damn good set!).

Are you cross referencing for confirmation, @CM4S? This would seem like something you would have info on first.

Some of the names seem to have some typos. I don't know what "Earth Roader" would mean, and "Earth Off-Roader" seems like it'd make a bit more sense. Likewise, "Sonic Radar 2.0" should probably be "Sonic Raider 2.0" or something along those lines. Still, there's some really interesting stuff here!

I wonder if Ronin's Mech will resemble the mech he used in the video game LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin. The Samurai X Cave has been featured in the show for two years now so it could be a great candidate for a set, as is Kryptarium Prison, which made its debut in season 4.

I'll call it now (well, I called it a month ago, but not in public), I think #41135 Livi's Pop Star House will be a D2C 'Exclusive' set.

It's just a hunch. I could be wrong, but I don't think I will be.

Nope, it's in the prelim catalog. Small Beach House type set.

A LEGO Friends exclusive set would be awesome! At the same time, if one were to be announced, we probably wouldn't first hear about it in the same list as all the other sets. Also, I'm not sure how likely it is. LEGO Friends is aimed at ages 5–12, same as LEGO City. And even though LEGO City has been the LEGO Group's top-selling non-licensed theme for years, there haven't been any big LEGO City D2C sets. All the sets that come close tend to be released with Creator Expert branding.

The LEGO Group seems to be a bit hesitant to try extending the age range for their girl-oriented themes upward. LEGO Elves seems on some levels to be the girl-oriented answer to Ninjago (aimed at ages 7–14), yet Elves is aimed at ages 7–12. The lower limit on the age recommendation is raised, but not the upper limit. It's possible that since girls are such a new demographic for the LEGO Group in general, they want to do more research before trying to target female TFOLs and AFOLs. TFOLs and AFOLs are a smaller demographic than KFOLs, and older buyers in general (not just girls) tend to have more particular and unpredictable interests than younger ones.

It's also worth noting that most female TFOLs and AFOLs are ones who grew up with LEGO from BEFORE the LEGO Group had strong girl-oriented themes. So their taste in sets might have more in common with male TFOLs and AFOLs than with female KFOLs, who are more receptive to new developments like the mini-doll. In that case, the LEGO Group might have to wait until the "LEGO Friends generation" starts to grow up before they really figure out how to create adult- or teen-oriented extensions of their girl-oriented brands. In the meantime, they can probably expect many female TFOLs and AFOLs to be drawn to Creator Expert sets, much like men their age (Creator being one of the most gender-neutral themes).

Also, look at how long it took Ninjago to get a D2C set! Ninjago's been out for four and a half years, and yet kids who were younger than nine years when Ninjago came out in 2011 would probably STILL be younger than the Temple of Airjitzu's target age range when it was released. By contrast, for a kid to be within the target age range for a 14+ exclusive Friends set today, they'd have had to be eleven or so when LEGO Friends first came out, and thus on the tail end of its target age range from the outset (Granted, a LEGO Friends D2C set might be more likely to shoot for a 12+ age range like past LEGO Castle exclusives).

More smaller buildings and landscaping, would expand the Airjitzu Temple district.  I'm excited that there is no hint of vehicles or combat.  Japanese inspired gardens are a rich vernacular to explore.  Maybe the Ideas project from a few years ago encouraged the concept.

10253-1 is now in the database between the 10251-1 Brick Bank and 75827-1 Ghostbusters Firehouse.  Could this be a summer addition to the Fairground Ride series?

Yes, this does sound very intriguing... I wasn't intending to purchase any more Ninjago sets, but this may well tempt me.

Why is 70602 titled "Jay's Elemental Dragon" while 70599 is simply "Cole's Dragon"? Is there a difference? 70594 is misspelled as well. At any rate, I'm still stoked for 2016 Ninjago!

There's also #10252 and #10254 which are exclusive sets too, although they're not in the Brickset database yet. No idea what they'll be, but it does suggest at least 3 more exclusives in 2016. Fairground, Landmark, and WV perhaps? Or maybe another vehicle as well.

Hmm... If another fairground add on is coming, my bets are that it will be a roller coaster. In the summer we're getting amusement park sets in the Friends line, maybe they'll introduce new tracks. Just a guess.

If we get a Lego roller coaster, I'm afraid anything less than a $300 set will be disappointing.

If they are willing to do a $350 GB headquarters and maybe a $300+ Batman classic set, a $300+ rollercoaster isn't that far fetched in my mind. You are right though. Anything less will not be well received I think.

I was under the impression that the '60s BatCave was just a large set for the Winter Wave, not a D2C.

I'm also half expecting one of Lego's homegrown themes to get a D2C set as well.

I think we should also hold tight to the fact that the Winter Village Toy Shop might not be the only re-release on the horizon (personally, I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me).
