Hello everyone. I state that maybe this isn't the right category to post this discussion; if it is so, please help me moving it in the right place.
So, as the title says, I'd like to talk with you about one topic that always I was interested in: which LEGO Star Wars sets would you like to see in shops' shelves? I think that everyone could just want to see some sets I really like, but I think that some people (like me) like to create their own catalogue, choosing between never released sets and already released ones.
So why don't you try to expose your "dreams", writing "catalogues", simple wishes and opinions?
My ideas
Sets that could be released maybe in second half of 2016 or in 2017.
Rebels Battle Pack 15$ (Rebels) – Including Rebel troopers and maybe Commander Sato as seen in Rebels second season
Imperial Battle Pack 15$ (Rebels) – Including stormtroopers, a stormtroopers sergeant and an Imperial officer as seen in Rebels
AT-ST 30$ (about 280/300 pieces) – An old and good AT-ST, because it's last edition is from 2007 wave! A long time ago! And it's one of the iconic Imperial vehicles.
TIE Interceptor 30$ (about 300/320 pieces) – TIE Interceptor as seen in Revenge of the Jedi (if I remember well), whose last release was in 2006!
V-19 Torrent 40$ (about 400 pieces) – It was released just one time, in 2008, but it appears very frequently in The Clone Wars first half.
Imperial Troop Transport 40$ (about 450 pieces) – Yes, it have been released just few months ago, but in Battle Pack-version. Because it's very inaccurate and disproportioned, I think it should be released in a larger version, proportioned to troopers as seen in Rebels.
Y-Wing 50$ (about 500 pieces) – Together with X-Wing is the most known Rebel starfighter, and maybe, after 4 years, it should be released again (maybe in The Clone Wars version, that appeared on the shelves only in 2009).
Imperial Landing Craft 50$ (about 500 pieces) – Sentinel-class shuttle, it appears for few seconds in A New Hope, but now we've seen it many times in Rebels, so it should be re-released (last edition in 2007).
Imperial Destroyer 120$ (about 1100/1200 pieces) – Arquitens-class cruiser, as seen in Rebels and The Clone Wars, is a smaller Star Destroyer that I really like, and maybe it should be released just to not produce the not-so-original Imperial-class Star Destroyer.
Rebel Cruiser 120$ (about 1100/1200 pieces) – Alderaan Cruiser (whose best example is Tantive IV), it was released in 2009, but now it could be re-released without the name of Tantive IV, but just as the main Rebel ship in Rebels.

How can I move it?
(Sorry, had to be done).
But to answer your question, i'd be happy to see a Tatooine micro set, featuring two jawas, two sandpeople (probably in single file), and a Bantha, with some tan 'BURP' rocks to hide behind.
Or Jedi Celebration Ghost micro set, featuring a Trans-Ben, trans-Yoda, and trans-redeemed-Anakin (original 'old man' version), with a small fence-platform build which could potentially house a small LED light to make them all 'glow' when stood on it.
Another idea would be a (collectable?) series of Jedi High Council chairs plus backdrop window section, each containing a different Jedi master (with some optional extra to spice it up a bit). You could pick up your fave jedi masters, or collect the whole set to build the complete council chamber... Also one very rare set would randomly contain a Chrome Gold Jar Jar Binks fig, because y'know, sometimes I feel we don't hate him enough... ;oD
And for a biggee, how's about a Cloud City (death star style). Imagine a large multi-level 'doughnut' which opens up, the light sabre sequence chute fall at the hollow centre, landing pads on outer extremes, a series of movie-sequence rooms forming the circling edges (machine shop, torture chamber, freezing chamber, civic area, dining room, etc) connected by passages/steps. Lando, bespin Luke & Leia figs, Ugnaughts, etc.
Obviously, all of the above to be taken with a pinch of salt - Just posting for the fun of it.
^ This
An updated D2C Death Star with new figures, maybe a few changes.
An updated D2C Millennium Falcon maybe with a few extra parts and figures so you can make the original one or the new one.
An D2C AT-AT as big as they dare
An D2C Hoth Base
Its not a joke, its not funny, its bullying and I am fed up of it so can you stop.
Thank You
You aren't far from reality: they're probably gonna release a D2C Hoth Base right next year, while nothing about AT-AT for now. But however it would be very great and a true Star Wars icon that no one (with enough money) could miss!
When end it comes to Star Wars, I greatly prefer original trilogy stuff to anything else, but I don't really collect SW Lego: it would get way too expensive, but I would like to have some staples from the OT. Maybe it's time for another Dagobah set? Battle of Hoth as well, I'm not sure if the rumor about this is true or not.
But TLG really needs to do something, a battle pack, polybag, something, just so we finally have minifigures of Zuckuss & 4-LOM. It's speciesist, won't someone think of the insects? :)
Oh I'd really like KotOR sets, and maybe SWTOR sets as well. But since they are no more Canon stuff, I think they won't release anything about them. Maybe an alderaanian corvette, similar to the Ebon Hawk, could be nice.
About the second thing... I'd like to have them too! :)
Dagobah, Kamino (!!), an external-construction architectural Cloud City, the Outrider (from Shadows of the Empire), the Naboo Royal Starship. All waiting...
The one re-release I'd like to see is the Bounty Hunter Pursuit (7133 originally).
My familiarity with the forums is only very light, so to be fair I'm not sure what anyone is talking about here, but I can say that fear of accidentally posting in the wrong area, and then being called out on it, is a thing. So as far as jokes about it...they may not be funny for everyone.
I agree with you! I really want a Rebel capital ship, and I looked around the web to find people who created their own ones, but however I'd like to be able to buy them! The only problem, in my opinion, would be the cost: they'd be probably as big as a Star Destroyer, or maybe even more! But I think that I could spend those money to catch a fantastic MC80 or Nebulon-B.
About the other ones, yeah, all good ideas, Outrider could take the place of Millennium Falcon for one year's sales, because it comes out too frequently in my opinion. Also Naboo Royal Starship would be nice.
Yeah, especially considering that they are relatively obscure ships compared to the Star Destroyers, it'd be hard to justify the cost. The Nebulon-B might work well as a midi-scale model.
^Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a Naboo ship in pearl bricks, but even beyond the color, the shape is tricky to capture--I haven't really even seen a MOC that looked good to me. But it is without a doubt the one most conspicuously absent LEGO Star Wars ship.
On topic though, the only star wars sets that make me even look twice any more are the UCS line. Everything else is a bit 'seen it before' for me. Yes a new figure or a new scene maybe vaguely interesting but sometimes I can't even remember if it's been done before as there are so many sets. #75060 on the other hand... Wow. More like that please.
I would like to see the episode 2 ships from the Zam Wessel chase scene done again with modern slopes and techniques. Stuff that isn't bley is always nice.
I also wish there was a remake of Cloud City (perhaps Death Star style, with outer panels).
You know, just yesterday I was going back in Lego SW history and I found a Cloud-Car, but many years ago. It should be re-released, although I don't like it and I think I don't find it a place in my "army".
Here's one for the Storm IV Cloud Car fans while we're at it. TLG normally have them facing off against another Microfighter, I so did IG-88's IG-2000.
Those Shadows of the Empire ones are very nice, and I also think of the Ideas submissions like Micro Space Classics (https://ideas.lego.com/projects/118501) or the Agents of SHEILD one (http://https//ideas.lego.com/projects/102337 ) could be great.
If I may cast a divergent thought, my dream might be a microfighters' set based on the Star Wars Thrawn Trilogy, mini-versions of the Star Destroyer Chimera, a Skipray Blastboat and the Wild Karrde with Thrawn, Mara Jade and Talon Karrde minifigs. #EUnostalgia
That way it wouldn't interfere with what's now deemed as cannon but would enable us to get some brilliant ships. After all, Kenner used to release ships that 'could' have been in the Star Wars universe when they ran out of on film ships.
I want a GR-75 Medium Transport
http://www.starwars.com/databank/gr-75-medium-transport
Image a +/- €150 up to €240 set: a ship that carries lots of cargo pods, which contain all your basic (and beyond) necessities for setting up a (Hoth) base. Small to medium (modular) builds that will fold open and house all elements to make a base with: a stable with a Tauntaun; a central computer/communications/command centre; a repair bay/power-station; a medical centre; a pod that houses a perimeter defence gun-turret; a pod with other provisions such as weapons and food of course. The ship is just a roomy cockpit/bridge at the front in which six or more minifigs can sit. The rest of the ship just needs to be an aesthetically pleasing outer hull with big engines at the back, and lots of space underneath the dorsal shell to attach all the pods to, and a handle that folds out, similar to #75055 and the old Kenner SW toy. A set that offers best of both worlds: something pleasing to the eye and challenging to build with plenty of technic elements for AFOL's who like to build and display, and fidget around and reconfigure all the features of the finished models, and excellent for kids who will have a fabulous play set that can be at the centre of all the role-playing. It is more versatile than just a Hoth play set as it is a ship that carries a base.
The problem (in my view) is that capital ships such as the Nebulon-B Frigate etc. will never be rendered in minifig scale. Shuttle Tyderium #75094 & the Millennium Falcon #75105 & the Ghost #75053 even though they are not 'true' minifig scale, are still to more or lesser degree 'acceptable' / 'proper' minifig scale ships. The same is applies to #75059 Sandcrawler.
A Millennium Falcon size Dash Rendar's Outrider, would be nice.
Also I would love to see a huge Imperial Sentinel-class landing craft which of course has to be quite a bit longer/bigger than #75094 . I would love it if TLG would make a huge set of this ship with lots of Imperial minifigs, and even to include one or two speederbikes. With a cargo hold / troop transport big enough to carry the dewback from the Cantina set.
Also I too totally want a set with Bossk, Dengar, Zuckuss, 4LOM, and IG-88. Nothing fancy, just a small/medium size set that contains these five minifigs, and lots and lots of weapons.
I love the idea of the GR-75. I might even try to build that at some point.
Well, it's not marketed as a Sentinel, but there is http://brickset.com/sets/7659-1/Imperial-Landing-Craft
The Sentinel-class should be re-released, I agree with you, mostly because we see it many times in Rebels, and so I don't know what they are waiting to make a new set. They could also release it instead of Lambda-class this year. But I think they'll not make it that big, always because it would cost too much. I think they could make it of same dimensions of Lambda-class, just a little bigger due to the lower storage.
In my opinion all SW sets could be more than just a little cheaper. But price levels is not really what this topic is primarily about, or is it? 'What SW sets would you like to see on the shelves'; either never done before or new renditions of previously released sets, focusses in essence on: what do you have on your personal wish-list. Regardless of scope in size and price-tag, which we all know TLG has commercially viable formula for: with a few big sets, and a lot more medium and small sets each year.
To my knowledge TLG has never released a 'Rebel Transport' GR-75. The reason I included the price range (€150-€240) is that I would like this set to be huge. The estimate in size of somewhere in between that of the latest Millennium Falcon #75105, and the Ewok Village #10236 I only provided as a vague reference to its how big it should be. And if TLG would ever release that set how I envision it, will probably be as expensive and big as the Sandcrawler #76059 with its 3296 piece count.
As much as I love all these really massive capital ships, TLG will never release those ships in minifig scale. Take e.g. the Imperial Assault Carrier #75106 from SW Rebels, that is not a capital ship, but so called a mid-size starship (even though there seems to be a huge variation how large such vessels are supposed to be), similar to the Blockade Runners, and the GR-75. #75106 as a playset / minifig centred ship is just way too small in my opinion. It looks interesting but unconvincing as minifig scale set.
In 2012 TLG released the Malevolence #9515 one of the capital ships from the Clone Wars very similar to the ship called: Invisible Hand from SW ep.III, but this set (next to the fact that I don't like these minifig face prints) just does not capture what it looked like in the film, while also trying to pass for a minifig scale play set. The only, or one of the few, exceptions to this rule in my opinion is #75055
If you like to see capital ships then I believe, either go the #10221 route, or something similar to the architecture sets, but then with a capital ship resting on a partially transparent brick build stand accompanied by half a dozen interesting minifigs.
That way we could have all the bountyhunters, Admiral Piett, Darth Vader from TESB accompanied by a 'small' scale model of the Super Star Destroyer.
My wish list may not be completely realistic in terms of actual sets ending up on the shelves because of pricepoint and size, but if TLG wants to develop and release sets of fantastic magnitude in terms of design, scale, and 'play value' (even if you are not a kid that does not play with these sets, but does appreciate play features being included), I can only see both a GR-75 as well as the Sentinel Landing Craft done BIG! Which as a consequence also means they will cost a lot of money too.
Why do you want a re-release of the Lambda Class shuttle, when that set is already out now?
#75094 I have not build mine yet, but that set looks so good. So a future release of a Sentinel with the main fuselage wider, longer, and deeper with a plate you can slide in and out of the cargo hold on which you place all your stormtroopers, bikes, or Dewback would be awesome.
However I do like the idea of a GR-75, I do like that ship. It would be interesting also a cargo-locking mechanism for the hull, like it should be in the galaxy far far way.
About the Lambda... I don't want a re-release of Lambda-class, I can see it on shelves right now and I didn't buy it just because I'm not really interested in it. I'd really like the Sentinel-class, and why not, in UCS form maybe, with the possibility of putting all those Imperial forces.
At this point I'd also like Arquitens-class cruiser, the smaller Star Destroyer with engines like a Consular-class frigate and with the hull opened in the mid, released with big dimensions. It would look interesting I think, and they could also choose between the Republic version or the Imperial version.
That is one of my favorite sets, and I like the look well enough. For me, having a capital ship that is at least 16" long and has a space inside for the "bridge" or what have you, it works out in terms of play value, while being manageable in size and price.
I would also love to see a GR-75--I've always like those ships, for some reason. Personally, I don't see it being more than about $100, $125 max if substantial detail and play features are included. The idea of using it to house an Echo Base playset is intriguing, but it would have to be a mammoth of such a thing.
