It is at TRU.  It is the same price as the big bang set.  When I saw them a few weeks ago in the store is was at $54.XX.

^Thanks, just snagged one. Was going to to get it with 2x points on Thursday but $10 off is much better

I also picked one up at FAO. I've never ordered from them before, but I'll take 20% off on a brand new set.
  • DedgeckoDedgecko Member Posts: 798
    You mean original advertised MSRP?

    Still have them in stock.

Funny. The limit is two but I received an error message that it exceeded the amount allowed.

Refreshed and entered two again, and it was fine.

I hope they don't cancel for some stupid reason.

I guess that is all LEGO has to do. Show us a price beforehand. Raise the price to make us outraged. Then offer a discount to match the original price and we think we are getting a deal...brilliant!
  • canon03canon03 Member Posts: 363
^ Exactly.  I was on the fence about getting one, but felt compelled to get it at "original price".  They know what they're doing.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,537
I know it is silly but I haven't bought a Ferrari F40 mainly because they said it would be $90 in the press release and then listed it at $100.

I also got one through FAO due to the lower MSRP.  I was planning on waiting for something like 2x points at [email protected] or some sort of coupon to show up from TRU so I could at least earn some rewards points.  Unfortunately, FAO isn't on any bonus cash back offers on my credit cards and there are no rewards points so I didn't get anything extra.  Still, can't beat $10 off the new MSRP since it would be really hard to get any sort of rewards program or coupon to match that.

Back in stock at FAO. $49.99+tax with free shipping.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,537
Got mine from FAO in a perfect sized shipping box with a flawless Lego box. Had never tried them before but would definitely recommend them now. Obviously a sample size of one isn't a lot to go on but I was very pleased with how mine arrived.
  • canon03canon03 Member Posts: 363
^ My order from FAO also arrived in perfect condition.  I guess the TRU shipping "standards" haven't made their way over to FAO yet.

Yep ordered from FAO and got a perfect box.  And that's all the way to an APO address in Japan
  • MugenPowerMugenPower Member Posts: 631
Mine was shipped in a larger box without packing but came out pretty much unscathed, to my surprise.

Same here, ordered from FAO, perfect box.

    FAO does international shipping?

  • 3stackshs3stackshs Member Posts: 299

    FAO does international shipping?

No, I'm military.  APO is like shipping to California.   Military takes it from there.  At that point they usually destroy the package and the. Put a note on it saying sorry, it was like this when we got it.

Ordered from FAO last night. $10 under RRP. Couldnt pass that up.
  • 77ncaachamps77ncaachamps Member Posts: 2,442
Received the two boxes in my order unscathed as well.

Lucky though: there was a good amount of space for the boxes to shift around and the only two plastic bubbles were flat as pancakes.

Just got mine in yesterday from US [email protected]!
  • MugenPowerMugenPower Member Posts: 631
I noticed my TRU restocked these and PM'ed FAO so I could use my TRU rewards certificate and earn some points while I was at it and returned the one from FAO.

Interestingly enough, I noticed that a couple of them were resealed with later date code stickers (the original stickers were underneath).  Makes me think that the ones I saw a few weeks back were taken off the shelves (as opposed to being sold out, since they disappeared a couple of days later) and sent back to Lego to get the revised parts.

^^ Just wanted to add YMMV to the TRU price matching.  The manager didn't allow me to price-match against FAO.  I was not pushing too hard about it, but thought that it was ok since FAO & TRU are same company.  She went ahead and pulled out the policy to show me that FAO is not on the list.

My FAO order was cancelled. I thought id have it by today. sad times. Back to the waiting list. May go see if my TRU will PM FAO.

FAO back in stock, but price has been increased to 59.99
  • richlrichl Member Posts: 246
Completely missed the boat on [email protected] double points in spite of my wife telling me she'd like it for Christmas. Luckily the TRU in Times Sq has them in stock at retail.

  • ChubblesChubbles Member Posts: 459
I'm pretty sure double points was extended thru October 31st.
  • richlrichl Member Posts: 246
It does - but I meant I missed it while it was in stock at [email protected] The Feb stock date doesn't do me much good the one time the better half asks me for a LEGO set for Christmas...

Might be a dumb question, but if you're checking in the Times Square TRU, have you checked the Lego store at Rockefeller or Flatiron?  I think they mark sets up by 10% but at least you'd still get the 2x points and they might restock sooner than Feb if they don't have it in stock.
  • richlrichl Member Posts: 246
I did earlier this week and both were out. One just showed up in the Rockefeller store today but with the 10% mark up once you take the 10% points into account it only makes a 60c difference plus tax. Happy to have one anyway!
  • ChubblesChubbles Member Posts: 459
that 10% markup is the worst

FAO back in stock, but price has been increased to 59.99
The Lego MSRP price is 59.99. Was it listed less then that?

Also Lego.com says Out of stock until 8 Feb 2016. Hot item for Christmas!

^ Yes, FAO had it for $49.99 for a while.
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,680
The Lego store I go to has them with a limit of 1 per household. If you go to Ebay there are plenty for sale but most seem to be selling for RRP or less. Maybe that's the place to get a good deal right now.

Or get drop shipped. Anytime someone sells something on EBay for less than RRP I am instantly suspicious.

^ That only works if shops have in in stock, right now there is no where to drop ship from :)

I saw a shelf full of these at my local tru. I showed the set to my kids . They were not interested so I put it back.
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,680
@starfire2 While I would normally agree with you I think @Dawn is correct. Maybe this is one case where the re-sellers are most of the demand and they are taking it in the shorts right now.

I think it is an incredible set. Very fun build and tons of personality. I have 3 extra. Not sure it will be any kind of home run as far as reselling goes. It is however easily one of my favorite builds in the last year or so.

Was disappointed when I missed buying at [email protected] for double points. Was checking out the local TRU and there were four sets, bought one with 20% off.  I have not crossed over to selling so I left the other three sets. But believe me it was temping and I had to control myself from buying the remaining three.
