In terms of non-canon builds, she also had a nifty transforming hoverbike in the LEGO Ninjago: Build Your Own Adventure book. But yeah, I agree, it'd be great to see more vehicles for her, especially with her Water Ninja color scheme.

Jay and Cole also haven't really gotten any new dragons or signature vehicles (besides Legacy redesigns) since The LEGO Ninjago Movie, so it's nice that Cole at least is now getting a new bike. But as much as I love some of the vehicles from this wave and Sons of Garmadon, it's sort of a bummer that both waves featured new vehicles for Kai, Zane, and Lloyd and considerably less focus on builds connected with the other ninja.

Not a big fan of most of the vehicles but then I thought the Ninjago film sets were so good it just put me off normal Ninjago. Love the figures, wonder if the wolf woman changes into the wolf in the smaller set ?

I wouldn't be surprised if these are from an entirely new SERIES that picks up where the original 10-season series left off, rather than just a new season. Note that the box art just says "Ninjago" and not "Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu" (which has been the name of the TV series in all the seasons so far).

But in general, I wasn't really expecting a whole lot of sets specifically based on March of the Oni, since from what I've seen of it it doesn't really feature many new vehicles or locations that would be obvious candidates for future sets. And any particularly important figures from Season 10 that we've missed out on could potentially show up in promotional releases like the Bricktober minifigure packs and Target minifigure cubes from past years.

@Aanchir it would definitely be nice to get more builds for her. I count the Stormbringer and the dragon from #70655 as Jay and Cole's respectively, which meant that Zane was the only original Ninja not to get a dragon in Hunted. It is kind of disappointing that Kai in particular got a new vehicle this wave; I don't see why the Katana 4X4 couldn't have been Nya's.

@sonatine01 That does look quite likely, given how similar the wolf's appearance is to the girl's outfit. @LEGOFan2 yeah, we really didn't get anything for March of the Oni except the Oni Battle Pack, and kind of the Legacy sets since those designs are used for the Ninja and Wu and feature the Golden Weapons, along with the improved Earth Driller. March of the Oni honestly didn't bring much if anything new to the table apart from the Oni; admittedly the battle pack didn't quite do them justice. Still, were they to continue Bricktober, I wouldn't want them to waste a slot on Oni Mask Garmadon.

I quite like the Titan Mech as well; could use more green in my opinion, but pretty cool. Of course part of me is like "where was this thing when the Oni Titan showed up?" It certainly looks like a match for many, if not all, of the big villain mechs/monsters from the series. Makes me hope some future season will feature somebody refurbishing Garmadon's samurai mech...

Nice that the wolf is in the $15 set. I may pick up two of those just for the wolf.

Okay, so the Titan Mech is actually 14.5 inches/37 cm to the Oni Titan's 9 inches/25 cm...that thing is a BEAST.

Not trying to post multiple times in a row, honest. Just wanted to voice my hopes that some of the new villains are going to be female. I'm thinking Aspheera and/or Char could be; prospects aren't looking good for anyone on the Ice Warrior side. Ninjago's been a bit better in recent years about having female villains, but we didn't get any for March of the Oni.

    How exactly do you know?

@LEGOFan2 I wouldn't necessarily say it's so Nya has someone to fight, though admittedly I do fancy antagonisms between characters of the same gender.

@BrickByBrick you are quite correct, and it's fairly depressing. Based on what the other Ninja have gotten over the years, she should get:
    • Ninja Mech (a decent, canon one, not that shrimp from #70596)
    • An aircraft (be it plane, helicopter, or even something funky like Lloyd's gotten)
    • A 4 (or more) wheeled/treaded vehicle
    • A few out there vehicles like-oh, I don't know-a watercraft for the Master of Water?

So...#40342 was definitely a surprise. Wasn't expecting to see a Clutch Powers minifigure in Ninjago. Of course, if a little theory I have proves true, it may be that we were already kind of getting him. See, the Pyro Lasher-the snake with a whip-is the only Pyro Snake minifigure who appears in only a single set. Its whip also happens to be the same piece as the one this Clutch Powers minifigure carries. I figure that Clutch-whether through Forbidden Spinjitzu, dark magic, or the Pyro Snakes turning out to be something like the Fangpyres-could end up becoming (if temporarily) the one and only Pyro Lasher.

The only thing this pack sours me on is the presence of YET ANOTHER Kai Minifigure. I mean seriously, why is he in so many sets? This isn't Power Rangers; being the red guy doesn't make you all that significant. He hasn't even been the focus character of an arc since pretty much the pilot season (except for Hands of Time which he shared with Nya) and yet he continues to appear in more sets than any of the other Ninja. Just look at the numbers (based on Brickset tags and my own calculations) of Ninja characters in sets:
    • Kai-76
    • Lloyd-62
    • Cole-58
    • Jay-69
    • Zane-61
    • Nya-43
    Where does it end?

Clutch Powers is mentioned briefly in the first season of the show. The Cole tells the other ninja that he discovered a fang blade that was turned into a trophy.

Red-clothed characters are popular with a lot of kids for a lot of the same reason that red sports cars are popular with many kids and adults — it's vivid and eye-catching, and has widespread cultural connotations of intensity, power, courage, passion, vitality, and dominance.

In Bionicle, the red Toa in any team was usually the leader/main character in any given story arc, and in answer to fan questions about this, Greg Farshtey (author of the comics and chapter books, and a major figure in the theme's story development) explained that the red sets tended to reliably sell the best. I suspect the Red Ranger's significance in most Power Rangers incarnations is for similar reasons.

Oh, I'm aware of that; just didn't expect to see that throwaway reference turned into an actual physical minifigure.

@Aanchir Yeah, I know all about Bionicle, and I get the whole red thing...though I'm not going to be happy about it. It's especially annoying when it means that Kai is way out in front on the number of sets he appears in, while poor Nya is pretty much as far behind the rest of the pack. I will say, I'm a bit surprised by Jay's numbers; you'd think with all the focus on Lloyd he'd be in the number 2 slot, but he's actually quite a bit behind Jay. Cole I'm less surprised by, as I know that the duller, earth-toned sets tend not to sell as well-many was the time I'd see stone affiliated Bionicle characters just sitting on a shelf while their more brightly colored neighbors were all but sold out.

Yes, it is a nice-looking trailer-plenty of emphasis on the Pyro Vipers/Pyro Snakes/whatever. I notice that the animators definitely tweaked Aspheera's model for the show; that gold tail might have been nice, as opposed to the ghostly lower half she sports in the sets. I'm also a little bummed that we're unlikely to get a Forbidden Spinjitzu Wu; would have definitely taken that over one of the Kais.
  • SearchlightRGSearchlightRG Member Posts: 271
    Got another new trailer:

What are you willing to bet there's no blue Aspheera figure in the works.

Well, episodes have started airing now; I'm honestly liking the 11-minute format more than I was expecting to. Only one episode have I truly disliked so far.

Starting to look like my theory about Clutch was way off, as there are plenty of grunts with the "Pyro Whipper" head present in the series.

    p.s. I want a Fuschia Ninja!

Zane was the first nindroid, and has never been human.  He was created by Dr. Julien (his inventor and “father”).  Here is a good summary of his history

I started watching the show in Season One with my youngest... he grew out of it but I stayed a fan!

What got me hooked on NINJAGO were my daughters, who got into the theme due to TLNM. Then came TLNM sets, NINJAGO magazines with foil packs, the NINJAGO tv show and now proper sets. I'm even in the process of acquiring a #70643 Temple of Resurrection, which will go pretty well with #70670 and #70678.
Excluding the CMFs from series, NINJAGO is now probably the theme for which I have the highest number of minifigs...

Having enjoyed TLM, when our boys saw the first trailer for TLNM, it immediately became a must see film for them. From there, when we got Netflix, James & Anthony started watching the show. Between seeing TLNM & various seasons the show multiple times, thanks to my boys, I got hooked.

Plus Lego understands the collector's mentality... every season I tell myself that I don't have to get all the minifigs just to be a completionist and yet every season they reel me back in with new/unique ninja robes

So...are there Ninjago sets that are exclusive to Target? I just have noticed on visits to local stores that my nearest Walmart doesn't seem to carry either the Legacy Monastery of Spinjitzu or the Castle of the Forsaken Emperor.
  • BrickByBrickBrickByBrick Member Posts: 748
Walmart definitely carried the monastery, it was just clearanced out of most of them already. I don't believe the castle of the forsaken emperor is a store exclusive but I have noticed multiple people saying they've never seen it in a Walmart

Hey, just wanted to share that my cable provider (Verizon Fios) added the ice chapter (Episodes 16–30) of the new Ninjago TV series to their Free On Demand selection today! If you live in the US and get Cartoon Network as part of a digital cable or satellite package, it might be worth checking if it's available for you as well!

Welp, we've got screenshots for a number of 2020 sets...Sadly, no Overlord Dragon in the Golden Mech set, but there's apparently a handful of Legacy sets yet to be revealed so...fingers crossed?

I'll say it right now, I'm pretty annoyed that the next new storyline wave includes a vehicle AND a dragon for Jay; one of them (preferably the dragon) should definitely have gone to Nya. I'm sick of her not getting a build in various sets, especially when builds assigned to Kai or Jay seem like they'd fit her just as well. Heck, they could have given her the "Ninja Tuner Car", but no, they had to make it generic Ninja and stick the Tronified version of Jack from Hidden Side in it. The minfigures from the wave are also a mixed bag-liking the Ninja, LOVE Pink Zane (though I'm wondering why he didn't get an "Avatar" getup), but not sure what to make of the villains.

Not sure if this is the correct thread to post in, apologies for not reading the entire thread.

Does anyone know if Lego has talked about releasing more big Ninjago sets like Ninjago City and City Docks?
I really loved them, so creative and vibrant (in colour and details). Builds i enjoyed while buidling which is rare for me, I mostly ”stress through” while building sets and allowing myself the time to enjoy different minibuilds only after they are finished. Its like comparing going on a cruise or backpacking where the joy is in the journey, against quickly getting to the targeted location and only starting to relax and enjoy when one has checked in on the hotel (knowing that one will no longer be affected by flights/trains being delayed or canceled)

They might release another set of the scale and complexity of Ninjago City and Docks, in accordance with the new season. It seems the settings for the Ninjago Movie and the new season of regular Ninjago are reasonably similar. If they do, though, keep in mind it'll probably be of a different style - in this case, some kind of virtual cyberpunk feel - which might not appeal to you as much.

That would really be sad news.
1/2 standard plate is still 100% more than what I could manage. Im astounded by some peoples MOCing skills (and since I really like the aestethics of the asian fusion, those in particular). Since I lack those skills ill just have to sit and wait for official sets.

Hmm. Is it dark cyberpunk or vibrant cyberpunk? (Dont have access to the newest Ninjago, Netflix here had something like season 2, 3, 4 and 6...or maybe it was 2,3 and 5. - anyway i stopped watching because of the missing season).
I like top hats, monocles, steam engines and oxidised cog wheels stuff but also the mechanical style with shiny metallic bits, electric wires and neon colours.

Ill keep your ”warning” in mind about the style, but im cautiosly optimistic that ill like the new style too.

My dream—which would tie in with the upcoming Legacy sets and their focus on the second, third, and fourth seasons of the show—would be that we might finally get a set of Borg Tower, a distinctive-looking skyscraper from the third season of the show with features like Cyrus Borg's office, the elevators, lobby, assembly lines, and so forth. If we did, though, it'd be the first Legacy set not explicitly based on an earlier set (the giant stone warrior packaged with the Earth Driller being the exception).

That said, there are plenty of other possibilities for Ninjago D2C sets, especially now that they can tie in with not just the current wave of sets but also older subjects with the "Legacy" branding. And I don't think there have been any rumors about what sorts of subject matter the wave for next summer will cover.

That's just my guess based on the sets. So definitely vibrant cyberpunk - even that might be too strong, maybe you could call it 'techno'?

I feel like Lego would be less willing to release a large D2C based on an old concept, when they could release one that ties in with the current season they're trying to sell. Borg Tower may be the exception, though, along with some other locations.

Not counting polybags, magazine GWPs or the movie CMF, there has been sets that contain Nya for less than AU$40 (two of the Legacy sets were under AU$25); 70600, 70651, 70665, 70680 & 853544, so there have been a few cheaper options for Nya.
