I received an email for 40% off 1 item at Barnes and Noble. Either educational games, and toys. Adult games and puzzles or gift section. It worked for me! I got the Boba Fett clock for $19.14 after tax.

I used that coupon for Robbie House last time...

Wonder what I could use it for this time. :)

I just tried to use this (printed from link above) and they said it would not work. "Coupon not found in system". They implied that it was a single-use coupon and someone else had already used it. I question that based on the barcode, but has anyone else had a problem (or success) in using this from the link above?

mine had the same code as someone had posted on Toys n bricks. And mine was emailed to me.

I PDF'ed the coupon. If anyone cannot get it to load, PM me your email and I'll send it.

In order to use that coupon you had to have paid the $25 membersip fee correct?
  • OdinduskOdindusk Member Posts: 763
    ^

No, at least I didn't have to today when I used it.

Got Earth Defense HQ for $55-ish today. Thanks, OP.

I did not have to either. I got my advent calendar for about $20

I went to buy the Republic Frigate and they asked me for my membership #. I don't have one so I walked out empty handed.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,333
You didn't need a membership # or card to use the coupon. That is just what they ask everyone.

Thanks for the coupon, Starfire2. I used grocery shopping as an excuse this morning to get out of the house and make a stop at B&N to check what's in store (My wife was complaining that I've bought way too many LEGO sets for my 6-year-old son, so I didn't want her to know. :)). I ended up getting a King's Castle (7946) for $59 and change. Great deal! This is going to be my son's first set in the Castle theme. I hope he'll like it.

BTW, in case you are a B&N member: You won't get your regular 10% off on top of this coupon because the coupon says it "sells @" 40%. Still, I am very happy.

^ YMMV, the associate who rang me up manually provided the member 10% discount.
  • DatoDato Member Posts: 111
^ Good for you. I guess I was lucky enough to be helped by a cashier who's new to the job. She seemed quite clueless when I asked why the member discount didn't apply. So she phoned the manager, and a minute later somebody came to review the coupon, and pointed out the "sell @" clause. I totally agree that if you are a member, you should always inquire about the extra 10%. You just may get it.

I'm afraid I failed at my mission. I had the AC HQ and wasn't that interested in the Police Station or the big Atlantis set. I ended up getting the Munchkin Quest board game for $30. Oh well. Considering that I didn't have a membership number, maybe I can use it again. Not sure how I feel about that though.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been waiting on just this opportunity to finally pick up the Hogwarts Express. I ended up getting both discounts - I didn't realize that the membership shouldn't count. Perhaps the reason it worked was the fact that I gave my membership# first, then pulled out the coupon? Or maybe the cashier had over-ride privilege and she used it without mentioning it.

I used the coupon more than once at a couple of different locations. I purchased a membership while I was at it, which helped me get the AC HQ for just $51 after tax.

I got a Queen Anne's Revenge for 78. after tax
  • 12651265 Member Posts: 1,141
@ starfire2..I purchased the Queen Anne's Revenge also and got it for $69.96 (includes tax). Did they include the 10% membership?
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
I also got a QAR for $69.14 after taxes, so they may not have taken off the additional 10%.
  • 12651265 Member Posts: 1,141
@ teal93mr2..You paid a bit lower than me due to state sales tax rate...however you pay state income tax...LOL. Nonetheless, nice score on the 40% off deal.

I was able to get it stacked with the regular member discount to get this year's City advent calender for $19.84.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,333
I only have the kids club membership. I think after all the Lego purchases I have made there though, I might consider it though.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
Funny... My wife and I went to B&N today with 2 of these, she bought one set and I bought the other, standing in line, but not "together", checked out next to each other, two different cashiers.

Mine didn't let me stack the 10% member discount, her cashier did. Right next to each other, at the same time. I didn't make an issue of it since I figured they would just take her discount away. :)

    Go figure...

Shame, because she picked up Kings Castle and I picked up another Robbie House.

Got lucky. Purchased Ninjago Fire Temple (2507) with 10% member and 40% coupon discounts. Net 46% discount before taxes.
  • coolpixcoolpix Member Posts: 357
Went today to my nearest BN looking for either "King's Castle", "Passenger Airplane" or "City Corner", but could not find them. Instead I left with a "PotC London Escape" which was not exactly what I wanted, but still a good set for $30 before tax.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
We probably got the last ones because we reserved them online on Saturday. They had taken a LOT of the coupons, the lady who checked me out said that she had lost count of the number brought in.
  • coolpixcoolpix Member Posts: 357
I will look at a couple other stores tomorrow, and see if I can get at least King's Castle or Passenger Airplane. These two are on their way out right after Xmas, and I don't want to miss the opportunity to grab them for 40% off while I can.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,333
you can always check the website (bn.com) for sets you want and check local availability.
  • coolpixcoolpix Member Posts: 357
Yes, did that and I found the Castle at a store 10 miles from me, and the Airplane 30 miles from me. I'll order the Airplane online. Thanks!
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
My understanding is that if you order online, you have to pay immediately, and the coupon isn't valid online.

    Are you going to return/re-buy?

@starfire2 Thanks for the heads up on this coupon! I was finally able to buy the AC Mothership at what I considered to be a reasonable price (and pick up a second Alien Defender to mod).

If your funds are limited like mine, you might want to hold off on using them with the 40% coupon. I just got an email that says that Barnes & Noble will have 50% off any one educational toy or game on Black Friday. They italicize "any."
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
I just got Farnsworth House with the 40% off. I think I'll be getting Robie House on Friday with the 50% off.

I went to B&N again today, thinking that I would get the SW Republic Frigate. But then I saw there's only one City Passenger Plane left, whereas there were 4 Frigates. I ended up getting the Plane.

Great to know there's going to be a 50% off coupon on BF. Could the lucky folks who receive it post it here? Thanks in advance. I also wonder what you should do to get on their mailing list for these heavy-weight coupons. My wife is a member and subscribes to B&N's promotional email, but I have never seen any coupons except those for hardcover books.

One observation about the new layout in local B&N: LEGO sets are quite dispersed. I wouldn't have found the Frigates if I didn't find out its availability online before I went there, because it's on a shelf several rows behind a main LEGO station that's visible from the main entrance. While on my way to the registers, I saw Alien Conquest sets on a shelf on the other side of the store.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,333
According to the BN.com website, it says the 50% off is valid online and in the store.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,333
^ Dato: if you have a kids club membership, you should get emails for toy sales and coupons for them.
  • DatoDato Member Posts: 111
@starfire2. Thanks for the info. We do have a Kids Club membership linked to my wife's membership account. I will go check if we have that profile set up properly.

Just picked up Queen Anne's Revenge for just under $70. This is such a great deal!
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,333
I just wish their website would give more info, like hours of operation on BF, or if you need a coupon.
  • 12651265 Member Posts: 1,141
@starfire2 - I was told no coupon. Items will already be coded when checking out.

@BTHodgeman - You might have a problem getting the Robie House with the 50% coupon on BF. The 50% applies only to Educational Toys and Games. The "Architecture" Lego theme is classified as Adult Games and Puzzles. Depending on the store, they might honor it.
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ Ah, good catch. You're right. If you're debating on using the 40% coupon or waiting on the 50% for the Robie House, you should probably use the 40.
  • coolpixcoolpix Member Posts: 357
I'll return my purchases with 40% off tomorrow, and buy them back on Black Friday for 50% off then! Also, my funds are quite limited, so I am willing to get MMV from the LEGO Store instead.... so many options.... so little money.
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
@1265 - Good to know, although, I'd argue that since it is Architectural in nature, it is inherently educational.

Also, only, for Robie House, it does say "No further discounts apply unless specifically stated" blah blah blah.

There's a new coupon for an extra 30% off starting today:

    http://www.barnesandnoble.com/email/print_nav.asp?PID=41475

I wonder if they stack with the 40% off... I guess it's again YMMV. If the cashier follows the "sell @" rule from the 40% off coupon, then it's a no go. How about BF's 50% off?

  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
I've never been able to stack two coupons. Only the membership discount.

  • RobbRobb Member Posts: 144
^^ Looks like the 30% off coupon only starts today online. You have to wait for the 25th to use it in stores. Has anyone been able to get it to work in stores prior to the 25th?
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
I just went to the store, they would not stack the coupons. When I pointed to the word 'extra' on the second coupon, her exact quote when I asked was "That's a new one on me!" - which meant: "No way buddy!" I wasn't surprised or disappointed. Even with JUST the 40% coupon, I got the Ninjago Fire Temple for $77 including tax.
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
Also, for those of you who want to reserve online... the item will be held for 3 days, so you could reserve today and pick up Friday with the 50% off coupon.
