Just opened my Probe Droid. Strangely looks like bag 2 was mislabeled as bag 3. Did this happen to anyone else?

Something weird on the Belgian [email protected], at first the Bad Batch Shuttle was priced at €99,99
but when I looked at it again today, it’s priced at €109,99
    what’s happening with this?

Fifty bucks! Two whole ships in the same set! That set is HUGE! Kiddie mind blown ... even more when it showed up under the Christmas tree ... yet more when it was labeled for my brother. To this day I'm not sure if the parents didn't actually intend us to share it, but whatever. I'm all grown up now and I have my own copy.

Change the snowspeeder to white and it could be last year's version. It still has the same canons and (awful) canopy.

I always felt that canopy was a decent compromise for snowspeeders, X-wings, and Y-wings.

I have the original snowspeeder and original landspeeder built and on display next to current versions. Same for the original Slave I next to my UCS Slave I. While they are decent sets for their time, the comparisons are almost comical in some ways.

The snow speeder had some really decent details for its size and era, but it's really small and the detail is definitely better on more recent models. I'm also partial to the hilariously crude printed Han in carbonite brick! (Of course the molded version is FAR better, but the printed brick is just so funny looking it's great!)

I'm just curious as to why "Boba Fett's Starship"? Is there a problem with the Slave I name, similar to the Razor Crest one? There's no mention of Slave I on the description of the set on the LEGO website.

From what I've heard, it's to avoid the use of the word slave.

In the grand scheme of the Universe, it's silly.

Also, LEGO has used vague and obtuse set naming, rather than 'proper' names.  Not all Mandalorian fans may know Slave 1.

Gideon's ship isn't named 'Gideon's Ship' or whatever name I'm certain it has.  Or that nonsense with the Razor Crest having potential IP infringement, so some sets being named 'Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Transport'.
  • AstrobricksAstrobricks Member Posts: 5,481
I don’t think I’ve ever heard why it was called Slave I in the first place. Odd thing to name your ship.

Anyway, they could give it the Razor Crest treatment in the Book of Boba and get him a new, more friendly-named ship we can all run out and purchase...

    “12 Years a Starship”

I don’t really care because I’m pretty sure no one on screen in films or tv ever calls it ‘The Slave I’, it’s only accompanying literature.

It would be a nice little reference though if the Book of Boba Fett series gave a nod to it i.e:
Shand: “How have you managed to keep the Slave I running so long?”
Boba: “I no longer use that name for my ship. I leave slavery for the Zygerrians. *spits*”

There is some speculation that Jango was a slave before becoming a bounty hunter

In my mind, that scene actually happened in a deleted scene.  Along with the crazy Obi-Wan/Vader re-cut lightsaber fight SC38.

Those exist in my version of the cannon, and the ST does not.

Aurra Sing calls it Slave I at least 2x in The Clone Wars series, which is canon.

In general, "Boba Fett's Starship" is probably a more likely purchase as a gift from a non-SW fan to a SW fan than "Slave I", so it makes sense to shift branding to that, even if the ship will still be canonically "Slave I".

Right, like when I was a kid and my mom wouldn't buy me Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys because three of those four words were too scary for her.

That must be a retcon thing as Jango didn't exist until the prequel trilogy (AFAIK) but the ship was called Slave I back in 1981 - for e.g. http://theswca.com/images-toys/figuretoys/slave1.html

In various expanded universe/legends stories Boba had ships named Slave 2, Slave 3, and Slave 4.

    Starship 1, Starship 2, Starship 3...

That Obi/Vader updated fight is absolutely canon in my mind, moreso than the flying R2 or suicidal manatee nursing Luke. :o)

Flying R2 is pretty cringy.  The whole ACME Battledroid Factory scene doesn't exist in my Jedi Archive.

(Fun note - my six year-old son at the time said: 'Why don't they just walk around?  This is dumb.')

OK, I knew the Republic Gunship was going to be big, but it's always a little hard to guess on exactly how big. Seeing the announcement... 74cm (~30") wingspan. That's HUGE! Seeing the official photos really drives home exactly how big it really is. It's going to be really hard for a lot of people to display. I'm honestly not sure where I might be able to fit it.
  • autolycusautolycus Member Posts: 1,430
Oh, and for anybody who is really particular about specific packaging versions they want:

The box and instructions have a mistake that Lego has already said will be fixed in later production runs: The box and instructions have the Imperial emblem rather than the Republic one.

If you want the version with the error, get it sooner than later. If you want the version with the correct emblem, wait a while.

“It depends on many factors, but we believe that you should see 75309 Republic Gunship in the updated packaging as early as December, or in some cases as late as February, depending on the region,” Ivan says. “It depends on the demand, obviously, for this product, but definitely early Q1 2022, we should see this product available with the right logos on the packaging.”

Did anyone notice TLG’s bizarre ‘boast’ about how many Prequel sets they’ve produced over the lifespan of the Star Wars theme? Kind of like ‘you keep telling us we’re not doing prequels but we’ve done so many already!’. I haven’t done the maths to work out whether they included Clone Wars sets in that figure.

I hope in the background TLG are going to remedy the ‘almost not UCS at all from the Prequels’ problem with an occasional release or two in coming years. It could even be MBS because there are certainly plenty of iconic locations/battles even if the vehicles are less so.

Probably unpopular opinion: I kind of want an MBS pod racing pit now that I think about it! Have 4 really good quality pods, maybe a commentary booth with Fode and Beed, and ~12-ish total minifigures, including 2-3 pit droids.

Podracing is criminally, criminally underrepresented in Lego form. Considering it’s one of the key highlights of Episode I and the Prequels in general, TLG seems so scared to commit to making anything relating to the sequence. I regret not buying or asking for Watto’s Junkyard, or the podracing bucket, back in the day. Purely because they were the only sets to have pods such as Gasgano’s or Aldar Beedo’s. Releasing just Anakin’s pod in 2019 wasn’t really a great idea because there was no one for him to race against - I would say that’s essential for play appeal.

Probably extremly hard to pull off, but the gungan city could look pretty impressive. The palace of naboo could be impressive too and likely easier, bit less unique though.
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
If we’re getting $350 MBS sets each year now, what are we thinking are the next candidates?  Yavin?  Naboo?  Scarif?  Geonosis?  I’m in a PT kick now so I’d love a Naboo playset and supplemental MTT.

A lot of people have wished for a Yavin set for years, and I don't really get it. It's a base where there was no fighting. What would the set be? A pyramid with hanger and an x-wing and/or y-wing? BOOORING!!

^Didn't the chance to get a jedi temple come up about 10 years ago? I think it lost out to the home 1 playset.
  • playwellplaywell Member Posts: 2,309
Yavin or Geonosis I could see but it might be a repeat like Endor, the Ewok Village is some time ago now and I could see a D2C vision of 8038 working.
  • AstrobricksAstrobricks Member Posts: 5,481
Seems to me it would be hard to add much of value to #8038. It definitely needs to still be minifig scale.
