I would like to see some dummy entry for UCS Dreadnaught or a UCS Anakin Podracer, and see the dumpster fire of negative reactions across the Lego SW collecting community.

Or that Jar Jar Binks is Kylo Ren...

^ I have to say that the Robot Chicken version of Jar Jar is almost worth sitting through the Episode I nonsense.

    Almost...

    Almost.

Personally I never saw #10188 as a UCS set and I guess I disagree labelling it as such, even now, just as #10236 is not a UCS set.

I'd love a re-release or upgrade of the UCS Snowspeeder and truely UCS Death Star for once (not DS II).
  • Lego_Nerd98Lego_Nerd98 Member Posts: 235
@pharmjod agreed. It will probably not be any bigger. It might be a small $100 version; a "mini-scale", like that one star destroyer....

    Counting down the hours......

Only 22 hours till the I get to sit down with the bag of popcorn (no, nobody has started a resellers / UCS /  Market Street / Lego being made in China thread) and get to be a kid again as I watch the new film. I am trying to avoid all the news stations as some of the ditzy reporters don't know when to keep their mouths shut.

I hope you enjoy it at much as I am expecting to.
17:30 tomorrow was the earliest I could get without interfering with work. Apparently going to see the new Star Wars film Isn't classed as a good enough excuse for taking the day off when all the holiday is used up. :(
    Heathens, the lot of them.

My gf never saw Star Wars before and have been on a marathon over the past month to get her up to speed. So she's hyped now for the new movie and more so for Disneyland's renovation.

She still has Return of the Jedi to watch tonight/tomorrow, but has not been impressed with the OT so far. Before Ep. V, I was saying how it was the best of the series and was considered so almost unanimously amongst the fans. When she finished it the other night, "That was it? I thought it was alright, but not that great." She liked the Prequels better and Padme & R2 as her fave characters.

I finished watching it 5 hours ago (midnight screening here in Australia).

I don't want to give away any spoilers so all as I will say is that I really enjoyed the movie :)

Apart from maybe the 3 OT based sets (X-wing, Tie and MF) I still don't want any of the current FA Lego sets, as I just don't think the sets are that great.

@BrickDancer after watching the NT first her expectations for camera quality, graphics, and stuff blowing up were super high, I'm sure! You should've showed her the OT first... :D

  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
It would have made the details too confusing for her, so I figured chronological order would be more important to get a straight flow of the story arc. Plus you're right in the dated film and cinematography for the OT being detractors for her attention.

But for the action, it was the other way around oddly enough. She thought the Hoth scenes were too warsy and military for her liking. She preferred the closer, more intimate feelings between characters story arcs from the PT. She really liked Obi Wan out of all the heroes, while thinking Anakin was a damaged person and Luke being extremely annoying. In fact, after seeing Luke in Ep. V, she's completely against naming our unborn son anything close to "Luke" lol.

I just find it different and odd when a fresh pair of eyes watches the Saga in a different era, that they can have a totally different opinion than what we consider the consensus among the fan base.

Just think, to make matters worse there will soon be an even newer set of eyes stating that their trilogy is the best.

They will be wrong of course, but ......
    ;)
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
Oh man you're so right with the Millennials. The OT will be classic film like Gone with the Wind, the PT will be big budget cheese of yesteryear like Top Gun, while the NT will be the best thing ever and own the Internets for time immemorial.

With that said, all the reviews of TFA have been stellar with nary a negative critic. Hopes are high here, just gotta hang on for a couple more days without spoilers.
  • Lego_Nerd98Lego_Nerd98 Member Posts: 235
Oh no, I hadn't thought about that! Each generation has their own trilogy!

Just came back from hunger games and on the way out I saw a group going to see star wars at the 12.05 showing. One was dressed as Rey, it wasn't you was it Huw?

I have to wait until Friday after work so not sure how much I can look on these topics until then.

Just saw TFA for the second time in 13 hours (Wasn't really planned, but a free ticket to the Premium theatre with hot food and electric reclining chairs, who could say no).

Was still super entertaining the second time round.

Unfortunately, I'm going to wait to see it, because I can't handle crowds much anymore. Even though I'm a huge fan, and have seen all of the movies in the theatre(except Episode IV-I was 3 years old what can I say?), I can't deal with that. So I'm waiting a week or two for it to die down. SO NO SPOILERS!!! I will cut you lol.

Still waiting till Monday....if I see any spoilers, I will report you to the admins :D

Btw at what point do you guys think it will be safe to talk freely about the movie? Half a year to a year from now?

I am amused that there is yet another iteration of Anakin's Podracer.

Maybe it's the Prequel Trilogy helicopter...

New podracer? Awesome, even if I'd rather see one that hadn't been depicted before (or maybe a UCS version). With all the hate Episode I got, I always felt its vehicles and settings were some of the most original and unique of the prequels, and as such I feel it's a shame that it doesn't get as many sets these days.

^ Agreed. As much as I hate the Binks, I really enjoyed Episode I and its my favorite of the prequels.

I'm looking forward to seeing the podracer set since I don't have one.

Don't ask Harrison Ford to autograph your UCS Millennium Falcon.

I've just got into Star Wars. I'd not seen any of the films until recently. Now I'm hooked. Now I'm trying to figure out which sets to begin with. I enjoy building and displaying sets at home. Any suggestions?
  • xwingpilotxwingpilot Member Posts: 799
    ^ For display I would say #10240, #75095 or #75060.
  • PaperballparkPaperballpark Member Posts: 4,268
Having seen TFA last night, I'm going to have to get #75113 - the Rey figure. I think I'm in love...

Is it just me, or does anyone else think it looks like #75139 Battle of Takodana comes packaged with a strip of bacon?

@historyman: It depends on your budget. I would start with the most iconic ones: Millenium Falcon (7965 or 75105), X-Wing (10240 or 9493 or 75102), Tie-Fighter (9492 or 75101), Imperial Destroyer (75055), AT-AT (75054), Death Star (10188), etc..

The two bigger TFA sets that came out today are way too expensive. Saw them at TRU today and passed on them

I'm wondering the same thing. I didn't see it on Lego.com, on Amazon.com, and when I was in Walmart earlier today, I only saw 75126 on the shelf....well, I saw where it was supposed to be on the shelf, they were all sold out....
