^That's the bunny. I saw it on the list on starwars.com, which I was looking at because I also collect the Itty Bittys, and the blog I follow linked to it.

So looks like there’s a Tantive IV coming. I’m not overly impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

New trailer looks nice, but it's a bit lacking in information. Which is why I've been surprised to see the usual hate around the net. What's there to be disappointed by, exactly? I rarely like Disney's stuff, too, but nobody knows anything about this film. I'd usually be pleased to see others agreeing with me, but when it comes from a place of ignorance I'm only insulted.

I agree. There’s not much to hate or love about the teaser, it’s just a trailer. Leave it to the net to loathe it and make too many assumptions. I’m trying to remain hopeful, because I disliked TLJ, a lot.

Save for a few substituted pieces and different cockpit print around the cones, it looks exactly like #10198. Was hoping for something a smidge bigger with a bit more detail. Anyone know what the spare set of white minifig legs are for? Spare set of trousers for when a rebel soldier comes face to face with Vader and craps his pants?

Hoping for something decent (TLJ was terrible), but prepared to be disappointed.

Maybe to replace Leia's skirt piece during play?

Like @omnium said, the extra legs are for Leia.

Episode IX looks abysmal, and I will not be watching. The title is the worst ever, and the scenarios featured in the trailer look ridicilous and/or boring. The only thing I liked was that short clip of the Desert Skiff with the mast, it looked like they were on a fun adventure. Alas, I will never know.

I take that back after a second look at the new one  10198 and a picture of the film original.

The new one looks much more elongated and slimmer along the middle section, with only 4 big central flank guns on top, not 6. Movie accurate..

Doesn't look like it comes on a stand with a UCS plaque.

It’s definitely a play set rather than a UCS. I’m disappointed as I’d have liked a highly detailed rebel blockade runner but I suppose I’ll just have to wait for the large UCS that we’re expecting in October.

@Bumblepants As the last two didn't live up to their awesome trailers, perhaps this will surpass its underwhelming one.

Just read the star wars limited edition figure draw T&C’s, apparently there are 7 prizes:

Also mentions that if someone from France or Sweden wins, then they need to pay the tax on the prize.. ouch! And probably why there is a value against each prize..
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
So we now know the non-UCS UCS offering this year. Next question:

What are the May 4th incentives/offers?

If they're dire, I'm sure I can wait for Smyths to stock and have a 20% off weekend.

Does no one remember how deliberately misleading the teasers for 7 and 8 were?
I feel as though I'm going to be disappointed if the rising Skywalker is Rey... or Ben.

Or maybe their kid sister Nancy!?!?!?!?

Or Michael B. Jordan, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa can appear as Lando's half-Skywalker triplets.  That way just about everyone on the planet can be equally confused.

I'm a pretty firm SW apologist, but these movies would sit better with me if they were just clever remakes of the original three films.  After all, these are popcorn, money-making event movies, not Criterion arthouse films.

I might have wept at a Force-ghost Ewan McGregor saying... 'Rey, you are my daughter.'

Last time I checked, this is a Lego forum, not a movie forum. Please don’t get too deep into this discussion about the movies themselves. Talk about potential sets all you want. But really, let’s not turn this into the toxic debates about the movies that happen countless other places.

This is the only one with a Dwayne The Rock Johnson as kid sister Nancy Skywalker though! I would pay $10 to go see that.

In that case, I'm already eagerly awaiting the Rey vs. TIE Silencer set, a new iternation of the Millennium Falcon with Two-Face and Chewbacca, and reissue of the Skiff Barge...

And good luck to @samiam391 in his pursuit of those prize items.

No offense taken. Yes, I've check this thread nearly daily for a couple years now and have looked back through some older posts as well. --- ugg... hit send too early!! --- I'm not opposed to some discussion of the films, but it felt like the trend was going heavily toward the more argumentative than the pleasant, and I was hoping it would end before it got too far. Different opinions are great. But again, I come here to read about Lego, not about the movies themselves. When I really want the "fun" discussions of the movies, I go to twitter or reddit. LOL.

(although I draw the line at Star Wars underpants these days)

I am disappointed that any porn parody is not going to have to think to hard of a title.

The only way they can rescue this film series is if Rey is the offspring of Palpatine, Kenobi and Skywalker. That would make her special enough to satisfy me.

The trouble with this movie is that they only have about 2.5 hours to undo/retcon the mess of Episode 8, develop the characters some more (as that wasn't done in E8), shoehorn in some disjointed scenes with Leia in, and then bring everything to satisfying conclusion that anyone cares about and worthy of a 42-year arc. I think that's too big an ask even if I did have faith in Lucasfilm at the moment.

I also hate the title. We already had a trilogy where Skywalker rose from farm boy to defeating the Emperor/Vader/Empire. If it's talking about Luke rising, then that's just stupid and a spoiler and too soon as he only just died. If it's referring to Rey, then that's also a spoiler.

But who knows - maybe it'll be great. I just wish they were all as good as Rogue One. That movie made me realise that I didn't like Episode 7 as much as I was trying to convince myself. And it even had plenty of diversity without feeling like it was being shoved down our throats (unlike the virtue-signalling-fest that is Episode 8).

I'll be honest, I liked the way Ep 8 had emphasised that the Force is wider than the Skywalker line. The Jedi Order was ten thousand strong before the first Force-wielding Skywalker was even born. So I'm somewhat ambivalent about the idea of that being nullifyied. But maybe it's a hint that the legacy itself is going to become separate from the bloodline, and to be The Skywalker is more about being the Force's spokesman (spokeswoman, spokesperson, spokesbeing) of the generation.

I love when people trash Eps. 7 and/or 8 by comparison with Rogue One. Oh, the irony.
  • thedoctor46thedoctor46 Member Posts: 213

In what way is it ironic?
  • LobotLobot Member Posts: 1,029

@jnscoelho - If I recall correctly, Rogue One was pretty well received by fans, and in my opinion it's one of the very best Star Wars films, just behind Empire Strikes Back.

It was well written and slotted in nicely between Episodes 3-4; Episode 7 was very much a pop-corn movie in the sense that it just re-hashed previous material, and although I did enjoy parts of Episode 8, it was too disjointed - the 'codebreaker' sub-plot for example.

I'm not sure of the irony, I must have missed that?

  • jnscoelhojnscoelho Member Posts: 696
    @Lobot and @thedoctor46
    Just opinions :)

Rogue One was the only Star Wars movie (the only movie in general, actually) during which I fell asleep while watching it in a cinema. No, I didn't like it and I totally disagree with it being one of the best - for me, it's the second worst, with the worst one being Solo. But, again, opinions.

The fans love it because of Vader (a Vader which is totally overkill for what should be just prior to A New Hope) and because they were angry about TFA. That's why Rogue One was a pinnacle of fan service.

Uhh... if there are two completely different possible meanings—and I can think of at least of few others without even trying—it can’t really be a spoiler. Unless that’s a criticism you have of every single movie title and you’re just an old man yelling at clouds. ;)

edit: yes, I’ll embrace the friendly discussion of the movies that others seem to want! ;)
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
Rogue One was okay for a generic sci-fi film, but wasn't needed, it completely rewrites how the Rebels got the first Death Star plans, sans Kyle Katarn & Jan Ors. Disney would have done better to use the Expanded Universe for source material rather than scrap it in favour of their trash takes on SW.

The two worst things about Rogue One were (in my opinion) Vader (both scenes) and adding the names of the planets next to them in establishing shots. It has a great Star Wars feel to it, that the other two Disney films (haven't seen Solo) lacked. It's basically Battlefront: The Movie, and I think that is what I like so much about it. Do I think these are the events that took place just before the first film? No, but it's a fun fantasy. I don't care about so called «canon», as the only films that truly are to me, are the first three. Rogue One and the prequels are just fun films about how things might have happened.

We already had a trilogy where Skywalker rose from farm boy to defeating the Emperor/Vader/Empire.
This movie is clearly about Leia's Intergalactic Bakery next to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.  She innovates a Porg-based croissant.

BTW, the crabbing and fanboying about SW is supposed to happen in the Off-Topic.  We don't want to sully non-spoiler LEGO discussion.

And I just noticed that TIE fighter-thingy in the trailer is looks a bit like Major Vonreg's TIE Fighter/Interceptor.

I think Solo is really the best example of fan-service.  There isn't anything truly original in the major plot points of the film.  (Like watching someone else's vacation videos, after already hearing the 'good' stories.)

And there is no way that Episodes 1 and 2 can ever be unseated as the worst SW movies.  Those movies can be distilled down to 13 minutes of revelant material.  And even those scenes are only relevant to Obi-Wan.  Oof.  The Force explained as a microscopic parasidic blood disease is the worst ever.  Just the worst.  And nevermind the not-so-subtle misplaced messiah plotline.  -Head explodes-

The best I can say of the prequel movies it that they gave us the Clone Wars series, with some proper character development showing Anakin turning to the dark side and Palpatine's manipulation/rise to power.

Palpatine was definitely the best thing about the prequel Trilogy. Anakin a whiny brat with an annoyance on par with scrappy doo.

So, in extending the off topic chat due to a lack of anything more brick based (like the freebies for May 4th) to talk about...

Your ranking of the SW movies best to worst?
