I collect the OT space ships (as much as my bank balance will allow, anyway) and I am generally happy regarding new iterations of these ships. They tend to get better and more realistic with each pass, and I for one can appreciate the difference between #7134 and #75175 (for instance). I want the version that best depicts what we see on film (UCS if possible, system if not).

I could care less about the minifigs (that's my Marvel collection problem), and I don't mind that some obscure scene, building or vehicle from PT or VII or R1 is being passed over (but I understand those who have a problem with that).

I imagine a day when I have properly detailed UCS versions of every space ship in IV-VI and I will stop buying them. But that's never going to happen, and I'm not sure I want that to happen either! :-)

@Fireheart I only collect sets from Episodes IV-VI but my four year old has a few things from the prequels, Rebels, Force Awakens and the Freemaker show, although he plays with the original trilogy stuff more. I'd gladly take part in any polls on this subject because I'd like to know the buying habits of other AFOLs in this area of collecting.

whatever looks good. for example I have poe's x-wing but wasn't interested in models of the x-wing from the original trilogy. nothing to do with how good or bad the movies are.

I make a habit of avoiding the prequels and cartoons so I have a lot from Ep IV-VII and am planning on getting some stuff from Rogue one. I have only been collecting for two years so have missed out on a lot of Hoth Stuff. If Assault on Hoth was better I would snap it up to get things like the Wampa cave and a tauntun plus some of the minifigs, however I will either have to shell out for retired sets or wait for TLG to remake the older Hoth sets.

Well, I wrote "could care less" then I realised that I'd got it 'wrong', then realised that on the 'continuum of caring' that someone posted ages ago I probably could care a little less, as the figures are nicely made, I enjoy posing them and some sets look a little empty without something sitting in the seats, so the phrase became 'actually' true as well as 'colloquially' true (depending on which version of the phrase you're used to). And then finally I realised that I couldn't care less which version I used - the ambiguity/wrongness amused me. :-)

The 2017 SW sets announced so far are now listed (and in stock) on the site of a local toy store chain (Maxi Toys). Instore I have only seen #75172 Y-wing and the #5164 Rebel Trooper battle pack.
Would have been tempted by Yoda's Starfighter, but those I'll just pick up later when there's a better discount than 15% off RRP.

Being fair, I only thought that much about it after I posted. And I may have put a little extra thought into my reply to @xwingpilot that wasn't there at all in the original post. Either way, you're probably right, although you might be mistaking my desire to write complete replies for genuine concern for the topic at hand. Ask me next time I write "could" instead of "couldn't" and I'll likely have much greater brevity. :-)

Okay everyone, just like last year, I've set up a spoiler zone for the new movie, where we can talk about it all we want:

After buying some of the TFA sets (still waiting for Poe's X-Wing to drop a bit more in price so I can add it to my collection), I think most of the newer sets are really good and definitely a huge improvement over the first original sets. They are more detailed than what they used to be, but I think that's sort of LEGO in general.

Can't wait for the 15th to go watch Rogue One. #EmpireDidNothingWrong

I'm really only collecting the Microfighters series & the occasional OT or PT sets I really really like, not interested in the new trilogy (what is the accepted term for it?). Apart for any new trilogy vehicles given the Microfighters treatment, if I do ever purchase a set, it will be for MOC parts. R1 being between the PT & OT, I might end up with a set or two, eventually, probably more likely if they're vehicles or settings from OT or PT. With the upcoming Desert Skiff, I'm hoping I'll be able to pick up a couple Han's hair pieces for my sigfig (it's the closest so far to my actual hair IRL) & I think I might have to pick up the A-Wing as I don't currently have a Lando minifig.

Read something over on the Brickshow website about upcoming sets I'm hoping they've got right:

    75167 Battle Pack (Bounty Hunters)
This one is a sure win for those elite few of Star Wars fans who have learned to admire the exploits (or mishap) of these legendary Bounty Hunters. This battle pack is rumored to include Dengar, IG-88, 2 more (possibly 4-LOM and Zuckuss).

4-LOM & Zuckuss? Please let it be so...

@VorpalRyu Holy cow, a Bounty Hunters Battle Pack would be a serious game changer. I hope it's true, and paves the way for similar character packs in the future, like some of the other Jedi from the Prequels, miscellaneous aliens from Jabba's Palace and Mos Eisley Cantina, etc.

I'm worried about the bounty hunter BP. While I would love it to be the four rumored, I don't see that happening. All BP so far are army building with generic characters. Having four named characters goes against what we have gotten in the past.

I'm thinking of random dudes and gals that have appeared in the Cantina and bars throughout the SW movies, especially Maz Kanata's.

Could be a first off, test the waters kind of thing, see if such sets are marketable, with one that should be a slam dunk. There are so many Marvel/DC/SW characters, that aren't really applicable to be in the sets TLG do, this could be a work around & the Bounty Hunters battle pack is a test to see if it's worth doing.

I suspect the TLBM CMFs are a testing of the waters for CMF lines for Marvel/DC/SW. It also proves the "can't do CMFs of licensed characters because it counts as an action figure" thing is false, as Mattel is just as sue happy as Hasbro & Mattel has the action figures licence for DC.

Now it's the number of promotes you have that matter. Back to the drawing board for you, J.

Since this is the SW thread...

Carrie Fischer suffered a massive heart attack on her flight from London to LA.

A passenger reported that she wasn't responsive for about ten minutes.

Crew went into motion to perform CPR.
She was immediately wheeled off to a hospital.

    let's hope she pulls through.

In a more serious note normally I could care less about celebrities, yeah it's sad when rhey die but it really doesn't affected me but I'm actually bothered by Carrie Fishers death. I don't know what it is but definitely feels wrong that shes not here.

    ps.
Aren't all these latest SW:R1 minifigs fantastic!?! (OK, four of them are from #75133 Battlefront, but they blend in well I think.) All five (1st wave) R1 sets are absolutely phenomenal builds too, great design and resemblance to the vehicles from the film.

I just love both how much Technic was involved in this build as well how well designed it all is. There is proper seating for five minifigs, and the way the whole ships just folds open is done in such a smart way. Krennic's shuttle really is a wonderful SW set. And as far as I am concerned this spaceship really was the 'star' vehicle of the film as it features in all planetary systems in which the story unfold of Rogue One.
I wonder why TLG did not include a Galen Erso minifig (in Lead Imperial Engineer outfit) with this set? Seems to me it would have made more sense to include Bohdi Rook and K-2SO in the U-wing set #76155 rather than #75156
Oooh well I am happy they managed to include all the characters they have in all sets TLG released. Only key-figure/character that is still missing is Saw Gerrera.

I imagine that Bodhi and K-2SO were included in this set in order to provide some built-in conflict. While Galen is also technically one of the "good guys" of the movie, he doesn't actually engage in combat at any point, so they probably opted to include two of the main heroes instead.

if there was a re-release of the #10179 Millennium Falcon, it would cost around £520 at about 10p a piece, as that is the normal price for a star wars set pear part nowadays.

i can tell you i would love to own it. but lego set's priced at over £320 are set that are outside my normal price point. it would take months for saving up, to get to 300+.
500+ as any member of this forum can tell you. i can not save money to save my life.
it is well out side my normal range.

Is the news of the possible rerelease of #10179 gaining momentum purely based off the speculation of this forum and others.
We're reporting other boards are saying it is confirmed, others are basing their facts on it's reported here and so on and so on......
Does anyone have any real facts are we just throwing darts and hoping one will hit the target?
