you know all the star wars mini set's are cool and all.
and if i had been around for the 1st year of them i would try to get them all.
but as i only found out about them at the start of this year. i dont feel the need to get them all. i will pick up the cool ones. (the ones i think look super cool) but i not go out of my way to get them.

    ^ Good strategy.

I got all the OT sets from Series 1 and 2 but skipped Series 3 completely. So far I'll probably only get the Y-wing from Series 4 (but I assume there are still two to be announced).

I wasn't super impressed by the rogue one tank, but it would match the new bunker nicely I guess. then too bad it will probably be 400 pieces for 60€

I LOVE Yoda's starfighter, especially the one step closer it brings the design to a TIE (surpassing Mauls ship and the Jedi starfighters from Revenge before it). BUT, .... I'd really like to finally own a Yoda with the LEGO cartoon-styled head like it is in the shows. XD

A lot of great looking sets here.

The Yoda starfighter is a good addition to the ETA 2 lineup. Nice to see the diversified styles and colors like the Delta-7s. According to Wookieepedia it was in 3 episodes of the Clone Wars cartoon, anyone recall if they actually showed Yoda piloting it? I always thought of Yoda as someone who was chauffeured.

Got ours too, watching a Star Wars film in the cinema is becoming a bit of a pre-Christmas tradition now - nice.

I don't think there are any more Microfighters to be announced, it looks like they just did 4 sets this series but at least they look ok. I've collected all the OT and ep7 sets plus a few of the PT ones so will probably get this series too.

    Very enthused about Thrawn.

(Although I was a bit disappointed he's appearing in Rebels rather than Rogue One.)
The minifigure version lacks red eyes.

Here it premieres on the 14th, but I haven't bought a ticket yet. I think I will wait a while and go and see it just after Christmas, during the last week of the year. I always enjoy film-theatres best when there is hardly anyone there, and you almost got the entire place to yourself. Otherwise it is just all so claustrophobic, the many people playing with their smartphones, and all the loud munching and smacking mouth sounds, crackling crisp baggies, popcorn, wine-gums, and licorice throwing, stupid chitchatting, popping beer bottles, belching burpers, as well as empty bottles being kicked around across the floor, and big headed long necked people with silly laughs and even sillier haircuts with lots of jelly crap in it blocking your view, are all too distracting and annoying.
Plenty of reasons why I go less and less to the cinema nowadays, especially when they charge you close to €20 for a single ticket in some theatres.

TheBigLebowski: I love the Ye Olde looking Pathe Cinema in Amsterdam - probably the cheapest place to get 2 pints of Heineken in Amsterdam. We usually end up paying a visit when in Amsterdam (usually on New Year's day if we've seen in New Year in Amsterdam as there's nothing open but the Cinema and Bars).

As someone who is trying to collect Boba Fett minifigs, my wallet weeps upon seeing #75174, which appears to have a new torso and legs for Fett. The skiff itself leaves a lot to be desired, especially when compared to #9496, but at least we get the new Han Solo hairpiece and Chewie in a relatively cheap set.

I hate to say it but I prefer the old Desert Skiff which I do not have. Been on my wish list to get for a while but always something else to buy. The A-Wing is a possibility as it seems bigger than the previous one. The only reason I may consider getting the landspeeder is for the new Luke fig which I don't have.
  • 77ncaachamps77ncaachamps Member Posts: 2,442
    Another A-Wing?!
    Same red and white color?!

    No thanks.

I thought they'd at least go the Rebels route with varied color schemes for the A-Wing.
They need to go with a different vehicle or mech. Some of these retreads are getting boring.
    Yo_dAJackad7flordMynatt
  • GremerGremer Member Posts: 183
Since I have the cantina, the landspeeder is an easy pass. I might get the extra parts for this version from PaB to update it though.

I have the 2012 DS, but I personally prefer this one. The Sarlacc Pit is definitely better, and so is the color scheme and how it's built imo. I'll probably end up getting it.

The A-Wing is the cream of the crop. I have both the most recent A-Wing and the 2013 version, and this is the best of the 3. Plus, cheap Lando.

Not too impressed by these latest additions, especially after the UCS Hoth and rehash Death Star. Whoever is in charge of deciding what new sets are being made needs to be replaced!

Why couldn't we have had a Bantha set complete with Tusken Raiders, maybe even a female and child Sandpeople minifigs to recreate Anakin's prequel massacre?

How about a Lars Homestead with an exclusive Aunt Beru minifig? And some blue milk of course.

Or a new Twin Pod Cloud Car to compliment the UCS Cloud City that is definitely, 100% coming out at the end of 2017, right Lego? RIGHT?!

In conclusion, too much is being repeated. Smacks of laziness. Here was an opportunity to produce something with variety that we haven't seen before and it's been wasted. Oh well, hopefully we'll get some sets in the future featuring scenes and characters that haven't been produced before.

@Lordmoral The Thrawn minifig has been confirmed to have red eyes. I was worried he just wouldn't have looked right without them!

@TheBigLegoski I'm with you 100% on that rant. I only go to the cinema four or five times a year now, and I used to go several times a month. Maybe I'm getting old and grumpy now I'm in my 40's? Bah humbug!

Getting a new Star Wars movie every year around the time of my birthday is pretty sweet. Long may it continue, although I do miss the old May release dates from my childhood. Maybe they can release two movies a year like the Marvel movies? Overkill? Naaaahhh!
  • FauchFauch Member Posts: 2,679
I think the new desert skiff looks better than the previous one. I don't know if it's more accurate but it looks better. of course knowing that star wars sets are overpriced and this one is retail - limited, it makes the chances I buy it pretty slim...

Yes, I saw them this morning where I live and I am pleasantly suprised. I won't be getting the set for one figure though, I am getting the new A-Wing and that's because I need to build up my Rebel Army (that and I dismantelled one when I was a kid and can't find the pieces).
  • xwingpilotxwingpilot Member Posts: 799
The A-wing is neat, but I'm not a fan of the Technic pulleys at the rear.

  • Well I was thinking I could happily sit this wave out, which is just as well given all the Lego Batman Movie sets I must have - they all look like fine sets, but I've got the previous versions of each (two A-Wings, in fact) and I'm content with those.  But then I looked at the closeup of the Lando minifig and, well, "Hello, who have we here," and all that.  Looks like the rebels are getting another A-Wing.

As a SW OT collector, if you've been collecting for more than 4 years, you've pretty much seen all the system vehicles out twice, and they (and the figures) usually get better with each incarnation - I don't think that Skiff has improved over the last one.

Unless something catches my eye (like Krennic's shuttle - not OT, I know!), it's UCS only for me, and even then, if it is poor (AOH!) i'll give it a miss. I will be up for a UCS Snowspeeder.

I feel the same to some extent, I am a SW fan at heart, but now am only interested ( from a buying perspective) in original builds from the movies ( and not rehashes of previous sets unless it's UCS).
Also I have no interest in Freemakers, Rebels sets..

I would like to see a poll of AFOL SW fans and their thoughts on this, as you seem to hear more comments like above more often now.. Any chance we could have a poll on the main website for something like this ? @CapnRex101
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
Personally I'm happy with rehashes, as I only came out of my Dark Ages about a year ago. In 1-2 years I'll probably feel a bit different as I will likely have been able to buy most of the iconic vehicles by then. However, yay for my wallet?

Just keep in mind that just like almost all Lego series, the main target public for TGL's SW range is kids. My 4 and 5 year old nephews are crazy about Lego SW. And just like with e.g. the City range, this means regular rehashes a new generation of kids becomes old enough to be interested in Lego SW. It also means most sets will be vehicles.

Personally my favourite 2017 SW set so far is #75168 Yoda's Jedi Starfighter. Being a big fan of The Clone Wars series (properly depicting Anakin's manipulation by the Chancellor + Palpatine's long term planning), I'm happy to see this this vehicle, which I think only appeared in season 6, be made into a set.

Like @stlux, I'm quite happy with the rehashes, for the same reasons.

I'm also quite happy that all of the Star wars universe gets attention from a Lego set point of view despite preferring the OT (being of an age to have seen Episode 4 in the cinema when it originally came out) as the variation of vehicles through the whole series has given me some great builds to have a go at.

As for the future, when the sets get re-released again, If they are much the same as what I have already, I daresay that there will be other themes from TLG that will give me something else to build.

I would like to see the UCS line go back to what it did best though, Large and Detailed Builds of iconic ships from the Saga (like Slave 1) instead of upping the piece count and slapping the label on anything.
