I find the star wars 2016 sets to be quite less impressive than the 2015 ones so far.
Well I think this 2016 set #75150 at least looks fantastic:

This one is definitely on my personal wish-list.

Brickshow has a review up of #75150. It is indeed a gem.  I think it looks great, although it is a solid $15 to $20 overpriced.

Minifigs are great and it's nice the have the original TIE Advanced back.
But those LEGO A-Wings are well oversized?
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437

The A-Wing looks good, and I believe it is scaled really well. Just Like Vader's Tie Advanced, it is a small one seater interstellar-fighter craft. I think the did all the proportions rather good for a Lego set, judging from the photo's.

  • ^ I can agree if the Official size truly is 9.6 meters.
Still a lot of stickers though..
  • FauchFauch Member Posts: 2,711
yeah, but overpriced and I wish it was 2 separate sets, so I could just pick the tie advanced and vader. for 100€ you usually expect some pretty impressive model, not two 30-40€ models.

if I remember the review from the brickshow, the A-wing has stickers but the tie advanced only has printed pieces?
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    @Fauch
I don't know how much it will cost? At least not in your or my country.  The Brickset-page on #75150 says $89,99 and £79,99 and yes that is definitely not cheap. I think all SW Lego sets are hugely inflated. I found myself still ready to buy some of them, though usually not at TLG's RRP.

However I did not enter the price into the equation when I said how wonderful I feel this set looks. Regardless of price, it is a nice set. Is the RRP fair? At €90 or a €100 ; I think not! €75 would be IMO a 'nice' or 'fair' RRP, and I guess I will be prepared to still buy it when it is a little more expensive.

@als-1971 - Officially it's the 1st June in the UK.

Amazon already have most of them available for pre-order.

I've mulling over the General Grevious construction set #75112 . What keeps me from buying it is that I have a boxed UCS General #10186

I would really like to hear from one who has both to compare the two and recommend or not if it really is worth buying the newer version despite of owning the UCS?
  • als-1971als-1971 Member Posts: 69

@Vortex I was tempted by Grievious #75112 as the only good Constraction set from that line. Held off until it was on sale for May 4th at Lego and decided to take a swing at it.

Upon opening the box and dumping the parts, it seemed very few and looked like a simple build. The build process was only so-so with nothing complex or interesting techniques used. But boy was the finished model of Grievous impressive! It honestly blew me away at how awesome he looked when fully posed in a fighting stance with all 4 lightsabers positioned just so. Best sub-$30 i've spent on a set in a long while.

I also have #10186 Grievous sitting in the closet still sealed, so being inspired by #75112, I pulled it out to give it a good mulling over as to whether or not I should crack the seals. But upon review, the UCS model seemed less dynamic because the posing is so static plus his stance is a bit awkward looking. Then small details like his tiny hands, crude face/head build in comparison to the molded head of #75112, etc. kinda pushed the pendulum back to just keeping it sealed and enjoying the smaller version. Though of course, the build experience on #10186 should exceed the former by a mile.

Not sure on anyone else's take on #75112, but that's just my feedback on it versus UCS Grievous #10186.

Haven't got #10186, so cannot give the comparison, but I do have #75112 and like @BrickDancer stated, it isn't the most inspiring build. Saying that, it is a wonderful set and a great display piece especially if you get #75109 to go with it. Having both of them going at it and being able to change the stance of these figures means they don't get boring when on display.

Saw some of the new sets at NJ TRU, #75151 #75157 #75149 #75149 didn't pick any up waiting for local Lego Store to have them, I them will check tomorrow to use my 300+ points earned in the last two double points events. With 3 kids those points add up quick.

I have removed some images of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story sets which had been posted here. These have been leaked and should not therefore be posted on Brickset as posting such images (or links to them) would be in breach of LEGO's policy on the matter. You can read more about this here.

I am surprised and disappointed that other news sources have been quite so cavalier in posting them as LEGO will feel the same way about this as they did about the Star Wars: The Force Awakens leaks last year and are likely to impose significant penalties upon those websites which do choose to post them.

    Thank you for your understanding.

wow, they wanted to make sure I wouldn't buy star wars sets. the new ones are way overpriced, on average the euro prices are almost 25% higher than the US ones.

eclipse fighter takes the cake with the price being almost 50% more than the US price. (if you consider the difference in value between currencies it's actually probably over 50%)
and I thought this one may have been a good deal...
  • DiggydoesDiggydoes Member Posts: 1,079
I know the Price-discussion has been talked to death, but the inflation came to a point where i as a Minifigure Collector have to rethink my obsession. Usually i wait for a good deal on the Sets (like 30% off, or more) and split it with a friend (he takes the Bricks, i take the Minifigures) but when i look at the current prices i guess i will do better if i bricklink the Figures i´m interested in! The Price/Minifigure ratio compared to the Super Heroes Line-up is pretty bad and i have the feeling it´s getting worse and worse :(

Recently purchased 2 summer sets from TRU and used VIP points to get 4 others at local Lego stores and I too was disappointed with the prices. #75148 should be a $50 USD set, and #75150 should be $80 USD #75157 is fair to me.
  • FauchFauch Member Posts: 2,711
77€ for encounter on jakku, 110 for tie advanced vs a-wing and 145 for the AT-TE. basically 50% more than what they should cost.
  • MattsWhatMattsWhat Member Posts: 1,643
#75157 - rebels set, decent vehicle, interesting greebling, nice minifigs, available from Amazon so sure to come up for 27% off at some point AND a palindromic set number. It doesn't get any better than that. The only real question is can I wait for it or so I get it now with a fountain?

So, would #75134 considered either OT or canon? I like the minifigures but appreciate they don't actually appear in the OT...
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,241
It's not canon until they show up in Rogue One.  Or whatever inter-saga story they choose to tell in the future...

I guess as an OT collector I'm looking for an excuse to get myself two jumptroopers and a shock trooper. They are OT-style stormtroopers right? Help me out here ;)
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,241
Technically speaking, I think the figures are based on Battlefront.  Which is not canon?

I forget the rules for canon/non-canon.

    They are NOT OT! :-P

I'm experiencing enough scope creep on my Lego sets without my Star Wars want list suddenly exploding!

They are based off the Star Wars Battlefront video game, so no, not canon.
  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 Administrator Posts: 2,364
It's actually not quite as cut and dried as that. Battlefront gameplay is not canon but the scenarios involved are, so the Battle of Jakku etc. are very definitely canon. The armour types in Battlefront are canon accordingly and so the minifigures are too.

I remain somewhat dubious. But in my head (and I think in reality too, so that's an unusual combo) they ain't IV-VI so I'm happy!

Pumped there is going to be what seems to be a legit AT-ST coming with the rogue one sets. I've been wanting one for a couple of years and #10174 is a bit out of my price range.  It looks like #75153 is goin to be a nice detailed set and hopefully meets my expectations!

Anyone knows when #75158 will be released? I'll be in Canada till mid august, so I'm hoping to pick it up when I'm there (since the latest larger star wars sets usually are 30-40€ cheaper if you buy them in Canada)

^Can't say for certain in Canada, but in the US, it will be released August 1 for $110 USD according to S@H:

^Look on the main Brickset site at the Star Wars products and see what catches your fancy. Consider making a 'wanted' list and then note the release year on the products you find appealing. A good bet is the stuff made in 2014 is about to disappear, if it is 2016 you have plenty of time to get it, 2015 is probably a toss up.

If you are an old school fan I would consider the Final Dual with Vader and Palpatine as it will be leaving us soon I would expect. Also use the main site shopping links to find the best deals and watch for people to post deals they find on the forums to stretch your Lego buying power.

Thank you. I've picked up a few of the 2016 series. The larger sets like the AT-TE and the Turbo Tank will have to wait a bit. I looked up some of the older sets and it isn't going to be cheap to get them. I guess I'll just keep my eyes open for deals.

I would recommend the 75095 TIE Fighter. It looks fantastic next to the Slave I. They're both eye-catching masterpieces.

I can also recommend 75096 Sith Infiltrator. It's overpriced, but it's so large that you still feel like you get your money's worth.

So I have all 3 of these sets. I've been looking at the 2012-2013 sets. They seem to have the subject matter that appeals to me. I've been very lucky to meet a fellow forum member who has hooked me up with great deals. I have a huge list of what I want, I just don't know if I will ever get them.
