Todd
With the exception of sets 491, 1651, 5510, 31003 and the Cat mosaic, all of my remaining sets were purchased sealed and have only been built once by me (and most have been displayed under glass, so dust has been kept to a minimum). One other exception: 21050, where the seals have been broken but the inner contents are still sealed.
Although I removed the 10% discount offer from my CL ads, I will still offer a 10% discount off of my CL prices for the Brickset forum.

Out of curiosity, can you offer some retrospective and/or words of wisdom regarding your collecting experience? Very few of us have the opportunity to amass such a vast collection, so I'd be interesting to know what your experiences were. Can you comment on the following:
- Which sets to you were the most memorable?
- Were there any sets that were surprisingly good / surprisingly bad?
- Given that you have sets from the past 20+ years, which sets / series do you think are undervalued or overvalued?
- Any other words of wisdom you'd like to share with fellow collectors?
Believe it or not, I only started collecting in 2011 (the Tower Bridge kicked me out of my dark ages), and then I came to my senses in 2015 and started selling everything off. As everyone on this forum knows, this hobby is expensive as all hell -- my wife often joked that it would be cheaper if I got into meth -- so my best advice is be prepared to (and more importantly, be able to) part with a ton of cash if you really want to dive in.
As a build collector, the biggest unanticipated expense was the never ending hunt and acquisition of display cases. Dust was the bane of my existence and, as my collection started to grow, I had find some way to protect my built sets from that dust. I looked into custom acrylic cases for some of my bigger sets (UCS Falcon, Liberty w/ custom base, Eiffel Tower), but sticker shock kept me from ever pulling the trigger on that. It drove me a bit crazy knowing that, with each passing month, these crown jewels of my collection would get dirtier and dirtier. Towards the end of my run, I was spending so much time keeping these uncovered pieces clean. Not fun at all.
I got into the hobby purely as a collector, and I never gave selling a thought as I was amassing the collection (although I did have the foresight to keep all of my boxes). I tried to buy sealed when possible, and then those sets promptly lost much of that value when I opened up the sets to build them, but at the time, the residual value of what I had was not my concern. When I stopped collecting and started selling, I quickly discovered that I would be taking a loss on many, many sets in my collection. The only real decision left has always been how much of a loss I'm willing to take.
So... to your questions:
____________________________________________
Which sets were the most memorable?
*3450 Liberty with the custom base (designed by Cameron Bethel) was the crown jewel of my collection. I think it stood almost four feet tall (a picture should be upthread somewhere). The base really set it apart from every other piece in my collection.
*10181 Eiffel Tower. Simply an amazing build and an amazing architectural display piece. Remains one of my all-time favorites.
*1650 Maersk Line Contain Ship from 1974. Perhaps one of the rarest items in my collection, in amazing condition. Stickers were still on the sheet, no yellowing at all on the pieces, and the box was in amazing condition.
*4999 Vestas Wind Turbine. Power functions put this set to the top of my list. We were driving up in Michigan last year and I almost had an accident when I saw an actual Vestas wind turbine -- I had no idea they were in the United States. It was one of those sets that everyone commented on and, when I turned it on, their eyes would get really big.
*10020, 10022 and 10025 Santa Fe train and cars. Simply the best train LEGO ever produced IMO. One of the few sets that I felt a tinge of regret when it sold.
*10210 Imperial Flagship. For me, the crown jewel of all LEGO ships.
*10228 Haunted House. I absolutely loved this set.
*852293 Castle Giant Chess Set. This is an AMAZING set, and the box it came in is simply unbelievable. The is the only set that I've sold that I regret selling, but it sold with my complete collection of LEGO chess sets, so at least it went to true collector.
*Citizen Brick's Breaking Bad Meth Lab. Because who doesn't want a LEGO meth lab?
____________________________________________
Surprisingly Good: Model Team; Alien Conquest; Vikings
Surprisingly Bad: Pharaoh's Quest (stickers were terrible and always ended up being mangled in the box); 10189 Taj Mahal (super boring build, but great display piece); 10227 B-Wing (oh god why did I ever buy this); 21008 Burj Khalifa (just terrible); 41999 Technic 4x4 Crawler (I rediscovered my deep loathing for technic with this set)
____________________________________________
Under- or over-valued: I'm not really the best judge of this, as I never went into it as a seller and only ended up being a seller to off-load the collection. The pricing on many of the Model Team sets is disappointing to me -- I think it's a massively under-appreciated theme. I haven't really taken the time to analyze my sales to spot trends or identify which themes are better or worse. Obviously, the modular buildings are popular, but given LEGO's current trend of not retiring these bigger sets for a long period, I don't think the value of the newer modulars will ever approach that of Market Street or Green Grocer. If you are in it for the money, I would be very, very cautious with buying current sets with the hopes of hoarding them and making a huge profit after they retire.

Other thoughts:
Biggest regret: Falling into the big, black financial hole of LEGO trains. I just scratched the surface with my train collection (I did not even try to go back for anything before the year 2000), and it not only expensive but also hard to display. I did not have enough room to have an actual train lay-out, so I rarely got to run them.
Best decision: Avoiding almost all Star Wars and Super Hero/Licensed themes like the plague. A few exceptions of course (UCS Falcon, Gold Chrome C-3PO, UCS R2-D2, UCS Batmobile), but I'm very glad that I never fell into any of these themes. I tended to be a completionist with my themes, and being a completionist for Star Wars or other licensed themes would have sent me into bankruptcy.
Biggest annoyance: Stickers, with stickers across multiple parts (STAMPS) deserving a special place in hell. Set 10241, Maersk Line Triple-E, while not having STAMPS, was close to the pinnacle of sticker hell, with some of the speed champion sets coming in a close second.
Biggest surprise on sets that have not sold yet: 5893 Off-Road Power; 7249 XXL Mobile Crane; 21017 Imperial Hotel
Thoughts on collecting and selling: I'm not going to rag on resellers or professional sellers on BrickLink -- without them, I would have never been able to amass the collection that I had -- but selling is not for me. I collected because I loved building and simply caught the collector's virus, but I'll be honest and say that I went overboard. For me, it ended up being too much to display, too much worry about upkeep, dust and sticker condition, and too much of a financial drain. Early in 2015, I stood in my basement one morning, looked around at the 600+ sets displayed down there, and thought to myself, "what the hell am I doing". I did not have a good answer, and the sell-off was on.
So, bet advice from me? Everything in moderation. If you want to collect, be very picky when curating your collection. Try not to be a completionist: I would have never purchased several of the inferior architectural sets, but I was collecting them all, so I felt like I had to get them. And then Marina Bay Sands came out and I had to get it, too. Ugh. Just get what you really like and ignore the rest.
Ok, enough rambling for one day. Hope you were able to glean something useful out of that wall of text.
I also made a contemporaneous decision to downsize the one other collection I had -- I've been a long-time weapons collector (non-firearm, nothing truly antique or historic), and ever since I had a kid 15 years ago, it remained stored away and inaccessible. I've sold off over 75% of that collection, so I guess that pushing 50 has me in a downsizing mindset.
@andrewt - To answer your display question, I guess I just did not see the point of being a build collector and hiding some of the sets away. Disassembly is a pain (tearing down and inventorying my UCS Falcon and Liberty was not fun at all), so once it was built, I just made room for it in the collection.
If I had unlimited funds, it would have been cool to creates some kind of space where all was safely displayed behind glass for the public to see (thinking of something like the Toy and Plastic Brick Museum up in Bellaire, Ohio), but that was just a pipe-dream. There were few people I could show the collection off to when it was in my basement, and I just finally decided that it all was not worth it in the end.
@SumoLego I think there's a point where the 'potential' money isn't that important - handing over in bulk to a reseller for a good deal is worth it to save on the years of effort. (Just look at how long Todd's been at it!) That's not saying people shouldn't sell their own stuff for fair prices, but I certainly don't have the patience for it.
Agreed. I'd love to set up a BL, eBay or whatever platform store and start selling.
CL ads still applies, and as usual, I may be able to do a bit better than that if multiple sets
are purchased. PM me if you are interested.

(If an item appears in one of my picture galleries but is not listed on my Brickset list or on Craigslist, then that item has already been sold.)
The resulting funds have been used for family travel and to help the next generation move forward. (It is a joy building Duplo with my two year old grandchild!) While it has required an enormous amount of work, I don't regret selling off the 3/4 no longer used or appreciated and certainly do not wish for my family to have to clear out my collection when I am gone in 20-30 years.
The easiest way to approach this dilemma is to ask yourself which LEGO do you no longer use or bring you the least joy. There will be someone somewhere who just can't live without those sets. The two downsizing books of Marie Kondo can walk you through this decision. Good luck with scaling back; it could fill you with relief if done well.

Just a question: you have kept the unique polybags, e.g. for Studio sets. How did you open the bags to avoid the foil to split afterwards?

*5524 never came with original instructions: they had to be downloaded from LEGO's website. I have printed these instructions in color and will include them with the set.
**The tiger mosaic originally came with alternate build instructions that were clearly not intended to be sent out with the set - I did not have enough black 1x1 plates to complete the build. I obtained a COPY of the correct instructions, so both will be included with the set (along with the 60 or so extra black 1x1 plates that I purchased in case you want to build the alternate version).
