Excellent price for a LEGO train. I wasn't sure about this one, but at $105 I pulled the trigger.

@Ma1234 I've been going back and forth the last few days on this one. I may do it by Saturday :)

Nice find!!! Too bad I've purchased MMV, Fire Brigade, Winter Toy Shop and Winter Bakery in the last month so I should probably hold off (plus there are some others I need that will be retired well before this)

I was, too, but it's listed as the third best-selling City set at TRU.com right now, so I began to worry it might sell out. Although on the other hand, there might be some Door Buster deals on Friday/Saturdy that stack with this.

I pulled the trigger on both the red and yellow Cargo Trains at a BOGO earlier in the year. I can't recommend them or ANY trains sets enough. Definitely get it for that price!!

Yeah got two red cargos during the last BOGO at about the same price..
Good deal though for someone that wants only one.
  • LegogeekLegogeek Member Posts: 714
Is this online only? Anyone seen it offered in brick & mortar stores?
  • kylejohnson11kylejohnson11 Member Posts: 508
The additional $15 off is online only. I saw it in stores for 25% off two nights ago.

Which probably brings it down to regular MSRP? LOL!! :oP

Bought one! I sell a few of the wagons and the straight track, make more than my money back and basically get the PF and the engine for free! Great deal!

TRU actually, believe it or not, sells the set for MSRP - $159.99.

You should have caught the BOGO sale a few weeks ago when it was 129.99 per Before BOGO (at least it was that price online AND let you put two in the cart!)

I really do believe that LEGO MSRP is purposefully higher so stores can put them on 'sale' to sell them for what Reatil should have been instead of a sale from that prices.. So sell an item for 160, then take 30 bucks off to knock it down to what it should cost instead of having it at 129.99, and put it on sale for lower, or do not put it on sale, etc...

No, it's not. It is on sale during November for $129.99. The sale is off the list price of $159.99.

If you talked them into lower it more, you got very lucky.

TRU did not jack up the price on this, although they do that often.

    DONE!

Took some doing though... forgot my password last night, so I clicked for a reset - twice, because I waited for the email, it never came, so I did it again. Then an email arrive, but the password didn't work, so I figured the second request killed the first but I was tired, couldn't wait for another email so went to bed. Morning came & I got the second email with the new password, VIOLA! Logged on, proceeded to shop. Tried to add a free LEGO item - done. Added $15 discount code - done. Went to add a $5 Reward code - Not Accepted!? Had to remove the free LEGO to get it to work, but it brought me down to $99.99. Free Shipping. YEAH! Tax $8.75. BOO! Grand total $108.74. YEAH! Checkout fail - BOO! Something happened and the order just dropped off the planet. Waited. After an hour I checked if an order showed on my account - nothing! Redid the whole thing - SUCCESS - the order went through -YEAH!! Finally! Never worked so hard for a deal, but it was worth it.
Eagerly waiting for train #3 to be added to my train barn.

I believe this could be very YMMV depending on your local TRU. Technially, I think Ma1234 is correct. The big toy book clearly has the train for $129.99, sale price valid until 11/23. Then this weeks book has 25% off sets shown, train set is shown. Nowhere does it state that this is 25% off the original pre-big toy book price, it only says 25% off. So since the original sale price of $129.99 is valid until 11/23, the 25% off should be on top of existing sale price.

However, if you look at all the sets TRU says are 25% off this week, they are 25% off the pre-big book sale prices so I'm not sure how far you could push your local TRU to follow the above logic.

I did push this issue today with the Creator Hillside House, its currently 25% off, plus $10 off any creator purchase over $50, and got the set for $69.99-$17.50 (25%) -$10 for a total of $42.49 before tax.

Mine already arrived less than 48 hours after ordering. It shipped UPS Ground, but looks like the item was at a warehouse less than 50 miles from me. Enjoying the set a lot. My first train in a long time - I haven't bought a train since he 9V days.

In my above post, I meant @norm103 is technically correct.
I believe TRU's intepretation will follow what @Ma1234 said.

Wow, that was quick. Where you at? I'm in So Cal - they gave me an ETA of Nov 23 to Nov 29.

Sweet, maybe mine will arrive Monday. Having it sent to my workplace in Long Beach. How was the packing?

No problems with the packaging, although its from the earlier production batch when the instructions and stickers didn't come enveloped with a cardboard backing.
