Hi everyone (from a new UK member) ...

Hi All,

Been a member here for a few weeks now and absolutely love the camaraderie and chat on Lego.  First off let me apologise as this is not my first post and I should have introduced myself first   Hope I can be forgiven!

After what must be almost a 20 year break from Lego (last set i remember getting was a lego ice planet ship for christmas way back) it wasnt until about a month ago when i passed a Lego store and realised how cool lego can actually be.  Following a bit of google on peoples MOC's I was hooked.

Big StarWars set fan and have just got myself a new flat so going to have to kit it out with a few select models.  Plan for now is to stick with the sets but having seen some pics recently I'm keen to get moding some builds up.

really enjoying the group so far.  At the moment I've just got the 2 UCS batmobiles and a red 5 and finding it super hard to budget for the next sets (but super hard in a good way  )

So a big thanks to all the memebers here who've given me some great insight so far and also helped me realise im not the only "non-kid" who thinks Legos amazing.

P.S. Also never been to (any) Lego land so really interested to hear about what people think of it following the trip away (and wish I'd joined here sooner so i could have gotten involved in that)

Welcome!  You are most definitely not alone

The next few months in the run up to Christmas tend to be the best for bargains,  so wait for those discounts to pop up here in the forum and on the home page,  and then pounce!

I think my favourite Legoland I've been to is Germany (there is a thread about it where I think I stated why this is) but obviously Billund is special as the Home of Lego.  I last went to Billund four years ago so looking forward to refreshing my memory next week.
Windsor comes off worst for me,  probably because I've been there the most (familiarity breeds contempt!) and often the weather has been poor but it's still a great experience to wander through mini land.

PS I had Ice Planet as a kid too!

I actually have such fond memories of those sets.  I think another allure for me with Lego is bringing back all the good memories I had!

I'm going to have to look up the thread with the comment on Germany Lego land.  Any excuse for me to visit Germany is a must (and also didn't even realise there was a legoland there - still so much to catch back up on :))

Thanks for the tip on waiting for the discounts.  Otherwise at this rate likely i'd be in the debtors prison by then (but probably worth it).

I think there are other threads about it as well.
You can do it in a day on the train from Munich (that's what I did).

I remember being soooo chuffed when I got the ice planet base for Christmas one year. I still have it as well :-)

Thanks.  And Munich is one of my favourite places in Germany so even better!  Lucky you to still have the base.  I spoke to my mum recently and she mentioned that she still has some (the stuff she didnt give away) in the back, mice infested, shed.

I mean sorting out lego and hiang to pick out the odd mega bloks brick is one thing.  But sorting lego and thinking you've found a brown 1x1 brick when its actually mice droppings is something completely different  :*
