Oof! I feel your pain. I once missed out on a $50 UCS Yoda, and I had replied within an hour!

Uberbrick: OUCH! Missing UCS Yoda for $50? I would just go cry in a corner for weeks.

Can these have happy endings? Cause one of my friends had purchased the rest of the sale Star Wars guys, didn't want them all and sold two to me at the sale price.

Definitely the "Jurassic World Limited Edition with minifigure" for Wii U - didn't even get to bid for it as someone swooped in with a trade. I'd settle for even just the box at this stage.

I don't scan Craigslist list like I used to so was too late to jump on this gem. If the link is down, it was a dusty 10210 Imperial Flagship for $100.00.

I had a complete, mint condition Cafe Corner I sold a few years back. Made a bit of money on it but boy do I regret that decision now.

At Alicante airport today. I had the opportunity to buy TLBM Joker Ballon Escape for 29.90 euro and Star Wars Darth Vader transformation for 59.90 euro. I could not bring myself to pull the trigger on either!!!

I can't validate the listing (nor do I think I want to at this point), but someone locally posted a "Free" ad with the stipulation that it went to a good home.

They apparently gave away a Tower Bridge, Taj Mahal, Green Grocer, Town Hall, and Grand Emporium.

    Free.

    As in no money.

I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw it..then a lot more when I saw it was already gone...

I died a little inside. Had it on my watch list and had an alarm set (it ended at like 4 in the morning) but apparently slept through the alarm. I realize most people would say this looks like a scam (low feedback/foreign country but his feedback is from selling lego and I messaged the seller and he was very friendly and sent me multiple pictures with the ship and his ebay name. I woke up this morning and immediately knew I messed up big time.

Dang.  Usually i can scroll through Kijiji & not come across anything that isn’t bricklink prices or more.  But yesterday after work & after church, I did my daily couple minutes ritual of checking anyways.  What should I find but a 10124 Wright Flyer listed, NIB (mind you the box was crushed/damaged).  For $160.  Needless to say by the time I sent the message, though the ad had hardly just gone up, it was gone.  Not a huge loss as it wasn’t necessarily a set I was shopping for, but at that price would’ve been a very nice model to build & have.

I missed a Craigslist deal that included the Town Hall and Grand Emporium- should’ve snagged it, even though I do have the Town Hall already.  The person only wanted $500.

Newest one for me has to be #10248 Ferrari F40.

I had it in my cart yesterday from Amazon and just couldn't pull the trigger, even though it was a set I was tempted to buy during its early release period.

Considering my backlog and lack of space though, this may be a blessing in disguise.

it's the most interesting system build I've done so far, and you really don't need much space to display it. (I still like the mini cooper slightly more, though its build is much more straightforward)

Well, just ended my week by missing out on the Winter Village Cottage for $50.

It posted on OfferUp. I responded within 15 minutes of the post, and it was already gone. GIVE ME A BREAK LEGO GODS!!!!!
  • M1J0EM1J0E Member Posts: 644
Wow a cottage for $50?  No wonder it lasted only 15 mins! :D. That was a great purchase for somebody.  Too bad not you, since your winter village is looking awesome!

Does anyone have this table & stools?  I think this would be a great piece of home decor for the grandkids to build on.  They tend to come up every couple weeks to a month here for sale, generally in excellent condition, which I’d want, and for $50-$100.  They also sell within hours.  I’ve been second in line on 4, yes 4, of them.  Good thing the kids are fairly small yet so we can keep watching out for one of these! :D

Lots of big sets I missed as a kid because I was only willing and able to get a bunch of little ones. But here's a small one that I didn't get - #3438 McDonald's Restaurant. Noticed it in the catalog, seemed a bit small for $10, and Dad thought it was crass commercialism

Well, to keep up my extremely unlucky streak, I just missed out on a Facebook Marketplace listing that had at least the following for $400:

    Grand Emporium
    Market Street
    Parisian Restaurant
    Detective Office
    Pet Store
    Palace Cinema
    Town Hall
At least 5 older Creator Houses/Buildings
About 25lbs of other loose bricks

Now, I honestly don't have the $400 anyway, but messaged the seller to work something out. Of course someone is on their way now and lives considerably closer than I.

*sigh* and my dream of owning modulars (and Market Street...ha) slips through the fingers.

It did look a lot like a lego city that had a divorced baseball bat taken to it. I'll just have to convince myself sell the pieces were broken (Just like my soul)

Well I missed out on last years B&N sale that had the Quinjet City Chase (50% off) among other things.  I just never know when B&N has sales and it's hard to keep track of it. :(

Local Walmart had 19 #10715 Bricks on a Roll, dropped from $25 to $15 on Monday. Somebody else got there first, but after reviewing the parts list I have no regrets. There actually can be too much variety in a single box.

if money was the only issue I am sure there are bunch of bricksetter that would happily pay part of the cost to get older modulars at retail price or lower.

^That was in part what I had planned on doing; seeing if she would allow me time to get things together (meaning post on the site to see if I could gain interest in a co-buy). But it was already spoken for once I messaged on it.

Well I had a great find yesterday, but sadly wan’t able to get it.  The ad said “Vintage Lego” & the text said starting at $10, potentially some pieces missing.  What followed was 4 pics of totes of shelfworn boxes.  All early to mid 80s town sets including #6391 and incredibly #106.  If those are even $20 or $40 he’d have a sale.

However he was a block away from where I used to live a couple years back, now a 2hr drive, so I couldn’t just pop over garage sale style.  SO I messaged him politely asking for prices but calling them out by set number (perhaps a smarter way to do it would’ve been just to say I’ll take what’s left even with a high cost & sort it out later).

That was enough to prompt the guy to look up what he actually had & how much it was worth, and pull the ad before he sold any more.  Oops.  No deals for me.  But maybe a good deed for the day if he goes through & lays out what he has at prices closer to what it’s worth.

You’re definitely right about that Lu!  The economy is so bad here that they probably need all the funds they can get from selling off this stuff.  And I learnt a few things on better securing a deal in the future when I see one too.  After all, if I was the seller I’d want somebody to tip me off to what I had too if I was ignorant about it.  As always what goes around comes around.

Was literally about to leave 45 min ago to pick up #8996-1 Skopio XV-1 FOR $15 when seller texts "sorry, husband doesnt want me to sell."

I was brushing my teeth, about to start the 2 hr trip thru a slippery snowy Rush Hour.

^ Whether you were getting it for the parts or to add to a Bionicles collection, either way, OUCH! That sucks, but on the bright side, at least you hadn't driven all that way to be told this. Unfortunately, it's probably more the case that they checked current prices & came up with that excuse, cruddy behaviour...

@MAGNINOMINISUMBRA he did have one listed I thought, though I don’t see it now.  He said he had 2 actually if you can believe it.  https://www.kijiji.ca/v-toys-games/red-deer/vintage-lego-107-canada-post/1409452127?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true  Here’s a link to one of his other rare sets (he had 2 canada post ones listed).  There should be contact info to message him to see about a sale.
