This time I was the one that got away. The deal almost looked too good to be true, and there were several red flags.  He eventually admitted in text that he is a drop shipper, and I bowed out. Maybe someone here is braver than me and will buy them, let us know if it was actually legit.

At this point I start looking at the sold section for pictures that look like the set they are selling. I always find they stole the picture from someone else's auction and that pretty much confirms the scam.

During late night baby feeds I have been watching the new Voltron cartoon series on Netflix. I now really wish that I had purchased the Voltron Lego set. Particularly as a power rangers fan to give me ideas on a Megazord MOC

@Brainslugged Boom! I never would have been able to find it as I've never been to Carousell.

I'd never heard of Carousell, but you can find any image on the Internet using Google Lens. Just upload an image to the app and it'll find other instances of it on the web. Probably useful for not getting catfished as well.

Google Lens is also useful for identifying stuff. I found a piece of metal by my garage recently. It looked like it may have a use so I didn't want to risk throwing it away. But then I remembered Google Lens so took a pic of it. The app identified it as a piece of my dishwasher that a guy had repaired a year earlier. So I could chuck the piece of metal as it was part of the hinge mechanism that had been replaced

I feel your pain. Despite having a ridiculous amount if Lego, I frequently think "why on earth didn't I buy that when it was readily available?"

The best strategy is probably buy everything... decide at a later date if you actually want/need it.

It’s the only reason I consider playing the lottery. Some lucky bastard just won £100 million in the UK. That is a lot of Lego.

I just noticed the plug sockets - probably the biggest red flag!

^ I was about to suggest that both these sellers are fake because the original photo had a UK plug socket in the background. Then I paused for a second and remembered just how many countries use our socket. And then I noticed S$ instead of $ and put 2+2 together!

I didn't spot the S$ but I knew they weren't what they use in Chicago!

    The Ghostbusters HQ - https://brickset.com/sets/75827-1/Firehouse-Headquarters

$350 was way expensive in 2016/2017. My most expensive set was the yearly modular. No doubt, every time I walked into the LEGO store, I checked out that large box...

in 2022, I bought the Lion Knight's Castle in memory of missing the Firehouse HQ.
