BIONICLE 2015 Trans-Blue Mask of Water - Where (Or If) I Can Find One?

ChrisJThunderChrisJThunder Member Posts: 115
Hello everyone!

So I've got a question that I'm not sure has an easy answer. I've recently come across a BIONICLE 2015 Trans-Blue Mask of Water in packaging similar to the Trans-White Mask of Fire from NYCC 2015 and the Trans-Green Skull Scorpio Mask from SDCC 2015. While those ones were easy enough to find on eBay and Bricklink, I'm battling to find the Mask of Water. Anyone know something here that I don't? Where (if anywhere) is the best place to get one?

Thank you everyone!

I believe they were given out during this year's Inside Tours.

The Transparent Blue Mask of Water was given to guests on the 2015 LEGO Inside Tour. The Inside Tour is an extremely exclusive event that costs over $2,000 per person to attend and usually has a long waiting list shortly after registration opens. Four tours were held this year in May and June.

Only 250 of these masks were produced in this color, 50 of which were kept for internal use at the LEGO Group (I'm guessing maybe as gifts for LEGO Inside Tour staff or members of the LEGO Bionicle design team). So really there should only be 200 of these masks in the hands of the general public. As such, there are not likely to be many showing up on the open market. Contrast that with the transparent Tahu mask, of which 1500 were produced and over 800 were distributed at New York Comic Con, a much less expensive event to attend

To be honest, I'm kind of surprised how few have been sold, since there are a lot of AFOLs who don't care about Bionicle and probably have little personal attachment to the mask in question (and you'd think some attendees would be looking to to recoup some of the tour's cost). I know of only one that has been sold, which a friend of mine from the Bionicle fan community bought.

My brother and I were lucky enough to be a part of the second LEGO Inside Tour in May. Here's an album of photos he took of the mask. But as lifelong Bionicle fans ourselves, neither of is really interested in parting with our masks. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance in helping you find one! You could try asking in this thread if any Bricksetters who attended the tour would be willing to sell you theirs.

Only one I could find an eBay, and it seems it already found another home:

My advice would be to keep an eye on eBay and add it to your wanted list on Bricklink (if it has been added to the catalog).

Thanks for the replies, guys! I guess I won't be picking up one of these for around 20 like I did my last mask buys

Looking at it, I just had an epiphany: it's just plastic.

    Boy.

This Lego collecting thing is starting to wear off on me.
Luckily the building thing is what keeps me going.

You know, a few months ago I would have disagreed and thrown (insert rare Kanohi mask) at someone, but as of a couple weeks ago I've left the BIONICLE Community at large and don't really care anymore about the masks. They really are just plastic. I'd rather pay less for plastic I will use in sets than pay more for plastic I put in a box only to bring out on the occasional livestream and such.

At this point, I'm not really looking for the Mask of Water anymore. Thanks to everyone who helped set me up with links, but I'm thinking I should save my green for something more worthwhile :P
