Other possible ideas could be to do something like mini figure parts used in non mini figure ways. or I like the idea of doing a large specialised parts category e.g anything larger than a 2x10 (http://brickset.com/parts/design-3006) which is quite vague but it would be quite inclusive and easy for people to join.
For some specific part suggestions how about the following;
Piece of resistance - http://brickset.com/parts/6055611
Sausage - http://brickset.com/parts/4520952
Flick Missile - http://brickset.com/parts/4520320
Brick Separator - http://brickset.com/parts/4654448
ice cream cone - http://brickset.com/parts/6017003
BTW the game is a great idea, it was a bit of a tricky first part used - I do get the reasoning for the choice, but don't be discouraged if it takes a little while to refine it.
As far as I'm aware the Iron Builder is run by Guy Himber of Crazy Bricks and as I understand it he basically contacts people who get noticed on the LEGO scene, so if you want to participate the best thing to do is keep building and sharing your creations -
@vitreolum was in a fairly recent round so he might be able to offer you more of an insight.
that's basically a plate, no?

That would be interesting.
I hope they are clear enough to identify in this picture.
I believe the goal is to use the parts in an unconventional way, so I would challenge the builders not to use the arch to build a bridge or tree and also not to use the chair as a chair.
Another idea I have is to go a different way and not pick a specific part per se, but have challenges where you can only use specific parts.
These are examples: Build a specific thing using only 1x2 bricks. (Or 1x3, etc.)
Build something using only translucent parts or as many as possible.
Create a scene using as many shades of green you possibly can.
(Or blue, red, brown, grey, etc. I picked green because I think that has the most variety.)
Build something using only certain parts and only a certain number of each part. (This would probably take more time to prepare.)
These are just some ideas I've had but the Brickset community might not be looking for something like this. I do have ideas for other singular parts but have to find them. :)
@LordofLego , how come you never build something yourself? :)
